Chapter 9: Inheritance Domain

"A Sacred Protector Inheritance Domain is opening in a month, I want you to go there. Come see me after 20 days."

Lance looked up from his meditation after her words rang out. "Yes, teacher", he said while looking at the house in the distance. He then went back to observing the twin swords placed on his lap as he sat cross-legged.

It had been 2 months since he arrived on the island and he had just reached the rookie realm in twin swords. 'It is harder than I thought.' He had constantly trained himself against the spirit beasts on the island. Even his cultivation had stagnated at the early skin stage.

The teacher had said that this was due to the essence energy being absorbed by his body to grow. He had indeed become taller, he was as old as a 12-year-old at just 6. He soon sunk back into his meditation to absorb essence energy as well as ponder the mysteries of the swords.

Soon 20 days passed, and he walked towards the house. He saw her sitting on the porch and stroking a tiger cub in her lap. "Teacher", he greeted her simply as she had forbidden him from bowing.

She smiled at him at the same time as the cub growled at him. "He seems upset that you didn't greet him." Lance sighed and said, "All hail the mighty Tiger Lord."

The cub seemed to be satisfied and sank back into enjoying her strokes. The cub was the teacher's spirit beast and loved to lord his status over him. He was named cloud due to the blue cloud like shapes on his fur coat.

"Take this medallion, it will take you to the Kingdom of Blades. Cloud will come with you too." A green medallion floated toward him. He took it and looked it over, it was plain without any decorations and seemed to be made of some shiny crystal. It was not too attractive but still felt warm in his hands.

The cub growled at her and immediately got a bop on the head.

"You will go with him." The cub immediately jumped up and gave her a glare with a defiant look in his eyes. "I will give you a blood fruit if you with him.", she said and rolled her eyes.

After hearing about the blood fruit, he immediately jumped and landed directly on Lance's shoulder. She then looked at him and said, "If you pass the 12th trial then I will give you a hundred-year-old ginseng. It will help you reach the peak of skin layer directly. Activate the medallion by infusing your essence energy into it."

"Yes, teacher." He then infused it with energy the same way he did to his swords. The medallion glowed brightly and covered him with a white glow.

"Take care", he heard her say as he disappeared.

In a forest in the Blades Kingdom, a blinding white light appeared. A silhouette came out of it, a handsome male with small cub lounging on his shoulder came into view as the white light disappeared. The small cub seemed to have clouds stitched onto its shiny black fur coat. It lazily yawned as it slowly opened its eyes and looked around. Nothing seemed to catch its interest as it yawned again and went back to its nap.

Lance looked around and relaxed after seeing no one around. He noticed the cub going back to sleep from the corner of his eyes and could only sigh exasperatedly.

"How should I reach the Domain?", he asked but the cub didn't even deign to open his eyes. The teacher could have at least give him a few general directions.

He could only move ahead in a random direction and hope to encounter some people willing to give him directions. He soon reached a road paved with hardened earth. 'Left, or right?', he thought to himself. But he didn't get to choose as a small horse cart came from his left. A middle-aged man was resting on the cart and saw him on the side of the road.

"Where are you going, child?" Lance could only smile bitterly after hearing the word child and replied, "I want to go to the nearest town but I'm lost. Can you point out the nearest city or town to me."

"Why do you want to go to a town and where are you from?", the man looked him up and down.

'Maybe he knows about the domain….'

"Do you know where the Inheritance Domain of the Sacred Protector is?" The man looked at him confusedly for a moment before a light seemed to go off in his head.

"Are you an Immortal?", he immediately jumped off the cart as he kneeled in front of him.

Lance was surprised after seeing the terror in his eyes. He immediately pulled the man to his feet as he said, "I'm a cultivator not an immortal. Please don't kneel!"

The man kept trying to fall to his knees but stopped after hearing Lance.

"Please forgive me for calling you a child Lord Immortal! Please don't kill me!", the man begged.

'I of course won't hurt you!" Lance tried to calm him down but he was too agitated. After begging forgiveness for a few more minutes, he seemed to notice that Lance wasn't angry.

"You want to seek information about the Immortal Domain in a town, Lord Immortal?", he asked respectfully after calming down a bit.

"Yes, I have to attend it. Don't call me Lord please, my name is Lance.", he said.

"Yes, Lord Lance. But you won't find anything about it in a mortal town or city. You will have to go to the capital city, Lord." Lance pondered for a moment and asked, "Do you know where the capital is?"

"I do not know, Lord" Lance sighed but perked up again soon.

"But the Destroying Spear Sect is forming a caravan to send its disciples to the capital. They may have the same goal in mind as lord."

Lance immediately enquired about the caravan and found that it was going to pass through the town where the middle-aged man was going.

"Ah I forgot to ask your name." The man immediately answered, "My name is Yan Shui, lord."

Yan Shui and Lance set off to the town together to the cart.
