After three years of marriage, Wendy Stewart was used to Michael Lucas's sarcastic remarks, his frequent threats about getting divorced, and even his indulgence of a mistress. She thought that she could bear with this her entire life, until she accidentally got pregnant with a child that Michael did not want. Finally despondent, Wendy signed the divorce agreement and left. She thought they could have parted ways forever, but Michael refused to stop looking for her after the divorce. When they met again, she was the world's top designer. Wendy was getting hungry, and Michael and Jill had walked out of sight.
She packed her things and decided to go for lunch. The dining area was huge, so she didn't think she would run into them in the company cafeteria. Besides, Michael usually ate in his own private room. She just had to find a table in the corner, and she probably wouldn't run into them. or so she thought.
On the way to the cafeteria, she would hear Some comments about Michael. But this time, the comments included Jill as well.
"Hey, did you see that?"
"See what?"
"The boss is having lunch with Corrine's assistant. And they seem to be enjoying each other's company too."
"I saw them! I just came back from the cafeteria."
"Jill even put food on Mr. Lucas' plate. They seem rather close."
"What?! I've just started shipping Mr. Lucas and Corrine, but now he's changed target? You've got to be kidding!"
