More than Friends?

The next morning, Uzi slowly opened her eyes, feeling the weight of guilt crushing her chest. She had denied N's help, despite his unwavering loyalty and willingness to aid her in the face of Eldritch J's formidable power.

She tried to shake off the feeling as she turned her head to gaze at a framed drawing on her wall. It was an illustration of her and N, their arms around each other, smiling as if they had not a care in the world.

N had given it to her as a token of gratitude for their friendship, and it had been hanging on her wall ever since. Uzi couldn't help but feel a pang of remorse as she looked at the drawing, realizing how much she had taken their friendship for granted.

As she let out a groan of frustration, Y/N turned to face her. Y/N has been up all night, as they had no need for a sleep cycle. "Good morning, Uzi. Is something bothering you?" They asked, concern etched on their face.

Uzi let out a heavy sigh before responding. "It's just...conflicts, I guess. I made a mistake, and now I feel terrible about it." She rubbed her eyes, trying to shake off the guilt. "Whatever, let's just get ready for school and get it over with."

Y/N looked at Uzi quizzically. "What's a 'shool'?" They asked, mispronouncing the word.

Uzi couldn't help but smile a bit at Y/N's innocence. "It's 'school,' Y/N. It's just a place where we go to learn things that may or may not be useful. It's boring, but we have to go because it's what's expected of us."

Despite Uzi's explanation, Y/N still looked confused, their forehead creased with a furrowed brow. Uzi sighed, feeling exasperated at their inability to grasp the concept of school. "Just stay here while I get ready." She said, her voice tinged with frustration.

Uzi made her way to the bathroom, the cool tiles of the floor sending a shiver up her spine. She closed the door behind her and looked at her reflection in the mirror.

Her neon green eyes glowed in the dim light, the color more vibrant than ever. Her dark green hair was a stark contrast to her former purple locks, and she knew that her new appearance would draw attention.

As she applied her makeup, she thought of a way to explain her transformation to her classmates. She didn't want to draw attention to herself or have to answer a barrage of questions.

"I'll think of something later." Uzi muttered to herself. "By the way, Y/N, you can grab some of my clothes or something, keep it subtle!" She called out to her roommate.

"Okay!" Y/N's muffled reply came from the other room.

Uzi finished getting ready and left the bathroom, feeling not at all enthusiastic about the day ahead. She found Y/N in her room, rifling through her clothes. They had changed into a black beanie and hoodie, which matched Uzi's attire, but had kept their original boots.

As Uzi and Y/N stepped out of their home, they were greeted by Uzi's father, Khan, who was standing by the entrance with a friendly smile.

"Good morning, Uzi! How are you and your friend doing today?" He asked in a cheerful tone.

"I'm fine, Dad..." Uzi muttered, clearly bothered by something.

"We're doing just great, Mr. Doorman. We're on our way to the 'school' that Uzi has to attend." Y/N replied nonchalantly.

Khan raised an eyebrow in surprise. "School, huh? Is this your first time going?" He asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Yes, it is. I only gained sentience two days ago, so I'm still learning about a lot of things." Y/N explained.

"In that case, you'll love this school. It's the best in the colony. Mostly because it's the only one here, but still!" Khan assured, beaming with pride. "Oh, by the way, you woke up an hour early today, Uzi."

"What?! Ugh! Whatever, I'll go take a nap." Uzi grumbled, stomping back to her room.

Y/N and Khan were left alone, the silence between them deafening and awkward. Khan racked his brain for a conversation starter and finally came up with the perfect one. "So, Y/N, have you ever built a door before?" He asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"No, but according to the information in my manual, I was designed to be more effective at construction than any other worker drone." Y/N replied.

"Well, let's put that to the test by fixing the main door!" Khan exclaimed, leading Y/N towards the first door in the colony, the one that was damaged in the fight with the Disassembly Drones. "Knock yourself out, kid." He said, patting Y/N on the back.

Y/N approached the imposing metal door with determination, their tool belt jingling as they reached for a wrench. As they began to work, Khan's voice filled the room, his words carrying an air of expertise and authority.

He spoke of the intricacies of door-making, of the importance of considering every possible detail, from the size of the door to its resistance to explosions and its security features.

Y/N, however, wasn't listening at all, since their mind focused on the task at hand. They moved with swift, automatic motions, their fingers working deftly as they made adjustments and modifications to the door.

As Khan spoke on, his monologue stretching on and on, Y/N's mind began to wander. They hadn't heard of anything about fixing doors, and yet, they acted as if they'd done this hundreds of times.

Finally, after 30 minutes, Y/N stepped back, wiping their brow with the back of their hand. "Finished." They announced, their voice ringing out clearly in the suddenly silent room.

Khan's eyes widened as he stared at the door, disbelief etched into his features. It had only taken Y/N a matter of minutes to do what he had expected to take hours.

"I- I mean, you did good work." He stammered, his voice filled with a mix of awe and confusion. "I'm sure it can withstand an explosion or two."

But Y/N was already shaking their head, a small smile playing at the corners of their lips. "Actually." They began, their voice growing more confident with every word. "I made a few modifications. This door is impervious to fire, explosions, and bullets. It could take a nuclear strike head-on and still stand strong."

As Y/N spoke, they talked about the many upgrades they'd done to the door. They named benefit after benefit, speaking of them as if it were no big deal. Suddenly, Khan gave Y/N a sudden and prideful hug.

Khan's embrace took Y/N by surprise, and they stood frozen in place, overwhelmed by the sudden show of affection. As Khan released them, Y/N could see the admiration and pride shining in his eyes.

"You're a prodigy, Y/N!" he exclaimed. "Like the child I never had."

As Khan raved about Y/N's door-making abilities, Uzi stood quietly behind him, her presence seemingly unnoticed. She coughed loudly, hoping to catch her father's attention, but he continued to speak as if she weren't there.

"I'm literally right here." Uzi finally interjected, her tone edged with frustration.

Khan's brow furrowed in confusion. "What? I said child, and you're my daughter, so what gives?" He replied, his attention finally turning to Uzi.

Uzi rolled her eyes, but her father's next words caught her off guard. "Besides, you're not actually siblings. Yet." He added, his eyes lighting up with a glint.

"Whatever you say, Da-" Uzi began, but her voice trailed off as she realized what he had just said. "Wait, what do you mean by 'yet'?" She demanded, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

"Oh, well, I just meant... Since Y/N is so good at fixing doors, just like me..." Khan paused, relishing in the moment.

Uzi, sensing where he was going with this, immediately interjected, shaking her head vigorously. "No..."

But Khan wasn't deterred. "And we're both Worker Drones, and we're all geniuses with doors..." He trailed off, his mind working furiously.

Uzi's heart sank as she saw the gears turning in his head. "No...!" She said, her voice sharp and firm, trying to shut him down before he went any further.

"Maybe I can..." Khan began, a glint in his eye.

"No!" Uzi cut him off, her frustration palpable.

"We might as well make it official, and I'll adopt Y/N so they can be part of the family!" Khan declared triumphantly, his face alight with excitement.

Uzi facepalmed, feeling embarrassed and helpless as the scene quickly cut to Khan signing adoption papers, with Y/N looking on in confusion.

"So, Y/N... You're officially my adopted child now. Congratulations. Now you and Uzi can be siblings in peace." Khan announced, signing the final adoption paper with a flourish.

Y/N still seemed to be processing the situation. "Thanks, Mr. Doorman." They said politely.

"That's 'dad' to you now!" Khan corrected them, grinning from ear to ear.

"Dad...?" Y/N repeated, still struggling to comprehend their new role in the family.

"Of course! My new child, Y/N Doorman!" Khan declared, beaming with pride.

Uzi groaned in embarrassment and frustration. "Kill me now." She muttered under her breath, feeling overwhelmed by the situation.

Back at the deserted school, the only sound was the frantic footsteps of a terrified female student echoing through the darkened halls. She stumbled and fumbled with every step, her vision obscured by the shattered remnants of her glasses, which had been ripped from her face during the chaotic chase.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she desperately searched for an escape, but the dimly-lit corridors seemed to stretch on forever. As she squinted through the haze of broken glass, a faint figure came into view in the distance, causing her to freeze in terror.

As she reached up to gingerly place the broken glasses back onto her face, she couldn't help but notice a nearby surveillance camera suddenly whirring to life and slowly turning of its own accord.

Suddenly, her attention was pulled forward as she saw a shadowy figure emerge from the darkness ahead. It was Doll, and something was different about her tonight - their expression was replaced by an unsettling and sinister grin, and their eyes seemed to glint with a dangerous light.

Doll used her Absolute Solver's abilities to tear thepoor girl's right arm off. And almost as if by an act of magic, she then summoned a cleaver. To further accentuate on her seemingly imossible feats, she multiplied the cleaver by three, and killed the girl without any trace of mercy.

The scene shifted forward to some time later, as Doll returned to her eerily quiet home. As she stepped inside, the muffled crunch of a hapless bug beneath their shoe echoed through the dimly-lit entryway.

With a flick of their wrist, Doll effortlessly used her telekinetic powers to hoist their books off of the floor and onto a nearby shelf, barely breaking stride as she moved through the silent halls.

The air seemed thick with an oppressive, palpable energy that seemed to emanate from every corner of the house, as though it were alive with dark intent.

Finally, Doll made their way to a small desk in a dimly-lit corner of the room, where they picked up a tattered notepad and began to cross out a name with a bold, jagged stroke.

Kelsey's name was the last on a list that included dozens of others - a catalogue of past victims, perhaps. As they stared at the list, Doll's expression twisted into a sinister smile, their eyes gleaming with a dangerous glint.

"Мам, Пап, я вернулась." Doll intoned, which translated to: "I'm back, Mom, Dad."

Silence was their only reply. As the camera slowly panned around the room, the flickering red light revealed a horde of cockroaches scuttling in the shape of two figures, but everything goes black before an explanation could be found.
