Chapter 46 - I.E.A.'s First Attacks

The enemy have fired at the E.D.L. frontlines, although it may not have dealt much damage, it served as a declaration of their hostility towards them.

"CANNON FIRE!!" One of the captains leading an armored brigade retaliates, an exchange of bombing attacks follows.

Some of the soldiers warned when a bomb is about to land near their positions. "Shit, take cover!!"

The sound of explosions were just as loud as it wreak havoc on the whole area. I.E.A.'s warplanes began to appear on the skies dropping off bombs and weapons like the— "I.E.A. WAR MACHINE!! IT'S THE WAR MACHINE!! EVERYONE BE CAREFUL!!"

Many were devastated by the indestructable war machine. Since it can not be easily destroyed, it did more harm and damage on regular E.D.L. soldiers and the special fighters are trying their best to take care of it.

"EVERYONE, LIKE I TOLD YOU ALL!! GET IN CONTACT WITH THE WAR MACHINE AND DESTROY IT FROM THE INSIDE!!" Raphael reminded his platoon.

He set himself as example for the others to watch, and like last time, Raphael jumped on the war machine and drilled into its exterior with his shifter and killed the person inside it. That automatically disabled the war machine.

But as the other tried, they find it difficult to even get close because the war machine was constantly making explosive attacks everywhere it went.

"Shit!! T-This is impossible!!"

"I can't even get close!!"

And those in the higher ranks that barely got close to the war machine have a hard time drilling into its exterior.

"This thing won't open!!"

"What the fuck is this thing made of!?"

Raphael can't help the others as he got himself busy with gettimg rid of these war machines by himself. And by on the 3rd war machine he's about to disable, there were also those soldiers from the I.E.A. interrupting.

"It's him!! The E.D.L.'s top dog, Raphael Novick!! Kill him!!"

As they ran to his direction, Raphael groaned to have himself deal with more pests from the I.E.A.

"FINE!! COME TO ME IF YOU WANT TO DIE!!!"

There were around 12 enemies that surrounded Raphael, attempting to kill him. Though each of them only ended up having their heads flying away from their bodies or get their faces smashed to bits with Raphael's shifter fists.

Puddles of blood scattered when Raphael finished dealing with those who dared to fight him, but he still wasn't finish fighting off these war machines. When he pried open this 3rd war machine, he found the man inside to be still conscious. "...k-kill... m-me..." he begged.

"Tch, who do you think you are to order me." Raphael stabs the man on his stomach and left him to die a slow painful death.

Before he can latch himself to the next war machine, Raphael got kicked that sent him flying a few meters away from where he was before.

"Arghh!!" He hits the ground, his whole body slides on the rough ground, scraping his skin.

"Shit—" Raphael knew there was only one person who can give him a strong kick like that. He bares his teeth, completely infuriated with that very person. "REGINALD!!"

Reginald dashed towards Raphael with a smirk on his face. "It's time for you to die, mongrel!" Almost reaching his target, he aims his right arm with the shifter weapon, transforming it into a cannon that can blast anything into bits.

By the time he fired his cannon, Raphael was able to counter Reginald's attack by blasting a shifter cannon as well. As their attacks collide, it created an explosion that sent both of them flying.

"Haa, haa... that bastard..." Raphael landed on his feet this time. When the clouds of dusts from the explosion settled down, he sees Reginald standing at the other side.

The two focused on each other and clashed once again.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the E.D.L.'s defense formation, Bernadette was having a hard time dealing with both war machines and I.E.A. soldiers attacking.

"Damn it!!" Her eyes widens seeing how she was nearly blasted by the war machine. If she was slow even in a matter of second on ducking her head, she'd be dead by now.

"Terrence!! Have the half of the lower ranks in our platoon defend the regular soldiers, the rest will deal with these war machines!!" She ordered. Her vice platoon commander immediately did as he was told while Bernadette tries her best taking all these war machines down.

"These things are thick!!—"

When Bernadette got to hold on to a war machine, she was also finding it difficult to pierce through the weapon. But when she managed to do so, she was quite disturbed seeing the half dead person powering this machine.

"—holy shit, so what they say about the war macnine is true. People at the I.E.A. sure is twisted." She kills the person inside and successfully disabled the war machine.

Bernadette continues to take down these war machines until an old opponent showed up and tried to slash her from behind. "Gahh!!" She was able to dodge when she sensed the attack was coming.

The war machine she was about to disable got completely destroyed by this person who just tried to kill her. "You've got some extraordinary luck to get away from a surprise attack like that ahaha!!"

"Heinz!!" Bernadette's brows furrowed at the sight of her rival. "Well, aren't you quite a disgrace. Attacking from behind like a coward!"

"So what?!—" Heinz pounced on Bernadette, attempting to slash her again with a shifter sword. Bernadette blocks her blade with a small shifter shield while kneeling down. "—there's no grace in places where blood is spilled."

"I guess you're right—" Bernadette grins, though the pressure that Heinz is putting on her blade was difficult to deflect. "—then prepare to get decapitated!" She got to redirect Heinz's sword and slipped away from her dead lock position.

Heinz was quick enough to launch another attack on Bernadette again, and had themselves dealing with each other for a while. All the platoon members tries their best to defend their grounds from enemies and war machines that kept on coming their way.

Regular E.D.L. soldiers were also relentless on sending different kinds of attacks to the enemies intruding their grounds. Only a few minutes have passed by when the battle began, the whole area was already chaotic and devastating.

"...RUN!!" That word is often repeated when the E.D.L. infantry soldiers encounter one of those war machines. Anyone can barely take it down, but there's this one soldier that faced a war machine despite her low rank.

"You crazy woman, run away now!!"

Claire didn't bother easing the worries of those from around her, she cracks her knuckles as her right leg shifter transforms into her favorite shifter katana before facing the war machine head on.
