Chapter 8 Turn yourself in

Mr Chika was visibly shaken, he was staring at Vincent as if he had seen a ghost. " I ... i ne...ver knew the Ikenna's had another son" stuttered Chika.

" I don't think we are in a situation where we exchange pleasantries or sit for a long chit chat so i will just go straight to the point." He signaled Bruno who handed him a large brown envelope which he threw on the table, in front of Mr Chika.

" In that file contains hard evidence of your misdeeds which was able to survive been destroyed or confiscated and then buried by the police and the prosecution. In that envelope there is video evidence of you ordering the assassination of my parents and Mr Nelson. Remember him? The man you killed and staged his death as suicide. In there also are receipts of your illegal drugs transactions, bribes and embezzlement of government funds through your political associates and a list of politicians on your payroll.

I will never understand why people who engage in criminal activities keep detailed account of those activities. Am not complaining though, seeing as it benefits me." Mr Chika picked up the envelope ,with shaky hands he bagan to go through the contents envelope. " How ... did you get these."

" It wasn't easy i can assure you." Vincent clasped his hands and leaned forward on his chair, his handsome face an unreadable mask. Now for the main purpose of this meeting . I want you to turn yourself in. As you already know, i can't turn this evidence to the police, it would be destroyed immediately and the whole thing buried , I can't have that. So here's what you are going to do. You will go the police yourself, with the evidence in that envelope and turn yourself over for prosecution. Reporters are going to capture this process live. I want this aired in the 9 o'clock news in every broadcasting station in the country tonight." He flicked his wrist to check the time on his wristwatch " this is exactly 7 o'clock on the dot, that gives you two hours to report yourself before the 9 o'clock news."

Mr Chika finally asked " am i to understand that you're asking me to incriminate myself ?" An incredulous look on his face.

" Oh please, we both know you not been accused wrongly."

" What if i refuse " Mr Chika asked. Vincent leaned back on his chair and tilted his head sideways, as if contemplating the possibilities. For a moment he was not so sure Mr Justin Chika was willing to lose everything for his family, then he saw his hands shake but he quickly recovered his pose. The man was bluffing. Vincent called his bluff. " Am i to understand Mr Chika, that you're abandoning your family." Vincent asked coldly then he smiled. " Ah, you've made this a lot easier for me then, am all for an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I wanted to give you a chance but " he shrugged nonchalantly. " A bullet to the head should do it. But don't worry I won't kill the child, I'll put her to good use when she's of age." Now he was the one bluffing, he couldn't hurt a single hair on Clarisse and her baby's head and he knew it. He got up causally to go putting up a false calm demeanor " I'll make sure to send you the body to bury." He hoped Me Chika wouldn't call his bluff, everything was banking on this. He need not have worried Mr Chika was trembling very much now. " Wait !! " He shouted stalling Vincent " i will turn myself in, so please do not hurt my daughter and granddaughter." Vincent released the breath he didn't know he had been holding. " It's up to you now, your daughter's life depends on your actions from here henceforth. Like i said i want your arrest and evidence of your criminal activities on the 9 o'clock news across the country tonight. Let's go Bruno."
