First Glimpse

"So, this is my cabin!" I said to Erin who is carrying a scowl on her face maybe about that mystery woman.

"Your assistant Lacey is going to join you in a minute. We have an inter telecom equipment so call if you need one." She gave a forced smile and departed with creaky sounds of her heels.

Meanwhile, I used the time to appreciate my cabin.

It's been neatly designed, with a wall background of creamy tiles with golden stripes, a leather mustard coloured comfy swivel shair, a black and white office desk with a PC, a flower vase and empty photo stand at the edge of the table. A medium-sized couch sofa placed the corner of the room and there goes large vertical window left to my seat. The room looks alluring and stunning.

I removed my uncomfortable long coat, dropping it to the couch and got seated in the chair.

And my focus is drawn by the photo stand.

This can't be empty.

And in a flash, the door unlocked, revealing Lacey's face.

"Can I?" She asked raising her eyebrows.

"Yeah!" I nodded and she stood in front of me.

"Have your seat, Lacey!" I said and she sat anxiously.

"So Mr Aus-"

"Call me Austin. It's not that I am an elderly annoying headstrong boss, right?" I smiled and she chuckled.

"We work together Lacey and you are my assistant. You can be and act comfortable with me. All that matters is to earn the company's reputation." I said crossing arms and she nodded.

"It's kind of you Austin!" She smiled.

"What about the marketing status of the company?" I asked leaning back.

"It's actually going good from the last five years that our company expanded all over England and coming to the marketing, the previous officer got some intellectual brain and handled skillfully and our client's products are being smartly advertising and marketing on various mediums." She said in one go.

"Umm, so, I got to continue the League!" I smiled and she nodded casually.

Suddenly, something strikes my mind and my mind poked to spit it out.

"So, uhh.. The Creative Department perhaps played an important role too. Don't you think?" I inquired with a nervous smile.

"Oh, definitely yes. After all, it's been led by a potential person" She gave an amused look.

"I see. It means Creative Director-"

"Miss Lydia Davies" she interrupted me.

"Oh. She may be one of a kind, I mean, a soft-hearted and an amiable person?" I raised eyebrows.

And she suddenly broke into a quick laugh startling me.

"Excuse me?"

"I am sorry!" She ceased to laugh.

"She is the most ill-natured and snobbish person ever I have met. The whole staff hates her including me." She shrugged.

"Really? Then what about the potential stuff and all?" I asked

"It applies to her work not on her character." She rolled her eyes.

I was about to say and she spoke again.

"Oops, I need to meet Mr James and I totally forgot about that. I gotta go, will join you later. And yeah, the next product details are being saved on the desktop, check it once. Excuse me!" She said and left the room

What's up with this Lydia woman?

I sighed deeply shutting my eyes and started to work.

"So, finally, you are here my man!" He hugged me tight which is enough to suffocate me.

"Hey, Max! Hold on, it's troubling me!" I squeaked, breathing heavily and he released me.

"It's been six months I saw you, high cheeks." He winked and I snorted out.

"You are never going to quit calling me with weird names! Aren't you?" I grunted and he kicked on my chest.

"C'mon, mate! Be a sport!" He chuckled.

"Now, let's grab a drink!" I said and we walked to bartender's place and seated on barstools.

"One pudding wine and you?" Max said.

"One Espresso Martini," I said and we received our drinks and sat in a corner table.

"Hey, bill is mine okay?" He said suddenly.

"Yep! I will be next time!" I showed thumbs up and sipped the drink.

"So, how is your first day at new branch?" He asked poking one eyebrow.

"It's good. It's really good." I nodded pursing the lips.

"Good? I thought you are going to be freaking exciting. But, you sounded so bland! What's the matter? How is your boss and the whole staff? Any hot chicks spotted?" He winked hornily which made me chuckle.

"My boss Mr Williams is more than good enough, humble and sweet. And the staff-" He cut me.

"Come up with names, Auss!" He looked hyperactive and I sighed noisily.

"You never change. Okay. A weird one, Alex. Silent guy, Luke. My assistant, a gorgeous Lacey. A red hot, Erin. A young one, Ella. A generous Taylor and, and a mysterious Lydia!" I stressed the last words.

"Mysterious? What goes with that?" He asked leaning forward.

"Everyone greeted me except her. She haven't met me afterwards too. And the strangest part is every each employee hates her, giving her offensive names!" I shrieked being too involved.

"Hate her? And offensive names? What is that?" He asked shockingly.

"An arrogant workaholic bitch and an ill natured snob!" I grunted.

"That's really pathetic! That too towards a woman! Man! That's really awful Auss!" He grumbled.

"I know Max! They may be exaggerating! I need to find out and no one is interested in talking about her!" I rolled my eyes.

"Hmm. But don't be too concerned in the matter Auss. Go with your work!" He glared at me.

"Yeah, sure, okay!" I smiled oddly.

"Now what else?" I asked and he started to speak which I least concentrated.

Shut your thoughts Austin! I slapped my mind and immersed into my best friend talks.

°°°°°

The intercom rang and I lifted after the first ring.

"Austin Roberts here!" I said

"It's James speaking! We have a staff meeting at conference hall in fifteen minutes about our next project. Be there without fail." The voice came.

"Sure, Mr Williams!" I said and ended the call.

It's been a week I joined the branch and this is going to be my first staff meeting.

And yes, I have never got a chance to witness that Lydia woman. I mean there were numerous times, I could get stuck with her, but every time, I missed it.

It can be her assistant who would attend my call to her or she would remain vanished when I walked to meet her on professional purpose, sometimes any of the staff would come to me to submit files on her behalf while everyone skips it whenever I rise the topic and she has never shown up in the canteen.

But wait, why am I desperate to see her? I am sure gone crazy with my mind!

I checked my black omega wrist watch and raised from the seat, walking to lift and reached the conference hall where Mr Williams already seated in the center and I postured myself right to him and we waited to people gather.

I picked up the placed magazine to spend the time and suddenly the hall is filled with whispers which made me to lift up my head only to jump me in amazement.

The door slowly slid open, displaying a woman in mid-twenties, dressed in black plain shirt with black and white striped trousers, ambled towards my side erect, with one hand slipping into a pocket, and sat exactly opposite to me, left to our CEO.

Unknowingly, my breath hitched, stiffening entire body, my face hooked at her and my eyes never going to avert my gaze from her.

She is moderately tall of 5'4 with a slender body, brownish black hair tied into pony, fairly pale complexion and her unique greyish green eyes stands out.

Damn! Too beautiful!

But after all, something caught my deep attention and that's a fixed frown on her face and her gorgeous yet impassive eyes.

So, she is-

"Good morning Miss Davies!" Mr Williams greeted.

"Good Morning James!" She said sharp, not even glancing at him.

So, here she is, the famous Lydia Rose Davies!
