The headmaster finishes off the meeting by telling us about the plans for later on. He will talk to the higher ups from the other kingdom, like Mazino's adventurers Office Master and the kings of the two kingdoms about this. They will have to start preparing for the upcoming war.
In the meantime, me and Arfius are left to guard the academy while he became one of the hands on the deck for the upcoming war. We just have to guard the academy again.
"Ugh... Again?"
I complained while groaning. Being a dog to the academy is the least I wanted to do.
"Hey… There will always be a threat to the academy."
"Just this guy should be enough, right? I wanted my own peaceful school life."
"No can do, Rize. A good protection has two parts on it. The defence and the offense... The light and the dark. You of all people should know about that better."
"Ugh... Why can't I just have a peaceful life here?"
The headmaster chuckled while Arfius is glaring at me with whatever reason he has for being angry at me.
"Okay, then. I'll call you two later when there's updates. But for now, you may return to your places."
He snapped his finger on his left hand and we quickly returned to our previous positions. I forgot that I was on the roof of the class building.
In front of me, there are no more students crowding on the middle building. Instead, everyone is doing their own stuff like chilling in the park.
Huh, maybe I'll do some chilling too.
I then headed to my dorm room while my mind thought about a lot of stuff. As I fly in peace, my mind wanders about the future, such as the events that might happen, or will happen, or the facts that are already coming true.
A war… huh…?

The next few days went by like a blink.
The event that was previously got disturbed by the sudden attack of the demons was continued again two days after the headmaster returned. Arfius managed to win the 5v5 competition by himself even after fighting the seniors, and class E managed to obtain the second place on the ultimate board game event.
Elmone and the other boys were extremely happy with their victory, they decided and called everyone in the class to a feast at the canteen. That night, the canteen was crowded by the class E students celebrating their victories in every event.
Knowing how we pretty much crushed the midterms exams and won the events, getting to class A and moving out from class E for the next semester doesn't sound that difficult now.
Instead, now we are just going to wait for the final semester exam and battle arena.
The next few days were filled with us focusing on our training on the training ground. Before we train, we never forget to give our condolences in front of our dear friend's grave.
The class starts around a week after the headmasters return. The damages done to the buildings were mostly patched up, and the girls dormitory building had also been rebuilt.
And ever since that day, things have gone normally.
At least… for everyone.
"Please teach me!"
"You must be Rize, right? Can you become my master!?"
"I want to be stronger! Please be my sensei!!"
"Rize! Please be my girlfriend!"
Ew, no.
A lot of students from the other classes, even from the senior classes came to me and asked me to either teach them or become their teacher. Which basically means the same thing.
Of course I had to reject every single one of them. I don't teach people without gaining anything. And even if I get paid, I still won't be teaching them. My free time is too precious for that.
I continued my training for my shadow magic and managed to get it to the Intermediate tier. Now, I am able to conjure shadows a lot quicker and my shadow is so much sturdier.
Even Elmone can suck on my shadow magic now. We had a spar using shadow magic and he lost so easily without me even moving my body.
I have successfully defeated my senior in shadow magic. I feel damn great.
Whatever happened that night… it completely unlocks my shadow magic's full capabilities. Now I can create simply anything I want, the way it was supposed to be.
The healing club also went normally. The third years, Lezlia and Kelmar, still come quite often to the club, but they no longer do the chores or stuff.
Then again, nobody does the healing anymore. I solo-ed every healing that was needed, while everyone else is just here to simply chill.
Aside from that, a few students from class E also come to join the healing club so that they can learn healing magic, like Manda and Maneil. Actually, I invited them, but they came at their own will.
I went to the training grounds every single day and practiced there, even when I had to be alone. After all, getting there only requires me to travel less than two minutes.
Having the ability to fly is like a breeze. Surely it took a lot of focus and magic energy, but it's still extremely convenient. Now, I can get to places extremely fast without having to run or touch the ground. After all, the air space here is clear of planes and free to fly.
Without realizing, days turned to months, and the exam for the first semester is just up ahead.
For me, there's definitely nothing to be afraid of. But for everyone, they are definitely freaking out.
We ended up having a learning session at the class by borrowing the class from the academy nearly every day until midnight.
And when the test day comes, they all are more than ready to answer the questions. We rejoiced at our triumph on the test, but that triumph didn't last that long.
Because the battle arena… is only days away.
