#Chapter4

Savion arrived back home angry at the world. Shadow sat at the kitchen table awaiting his arrival. /"You did the right thing. I just wish you would have erased her memories./"

Savion sighed, irritated. /"Not now Shadow./"

He stood up. /"You know the Cloak can easily capture her and track her back to us. Think about that./"

/"I have!/" Savion shouted. /"I have./" He repeated more calmly as he looked at him.

His mind was so confused at the events that happened. Savion honestly couldn’t wrap his mind around her not staying with them. It felt right. She felt right. Even if it wasn’t. Shadow did a soft /"hm/" for laughter.

/"You fucked her did you not?/"

Savion threw his hands up annoyed. /"It is over Shadow. She left our lives for good. That is what you wanted right?/"

Shadow folded his arms and shook his head. /"I hope so, but something tells me it will not be the last time we see her. From the confused and infuriated look on your face, I can tell this is not what you expected nor wanted./"

Savion walked off. He paused at the door. /"I do not expect you to understand. Hell, I do not even understand, but Armarria belongs with us./" And deep down he wanted to say /"she belongs with me/", but couldn’t. He walked away to find David knocking on his door once he arrived to the second level of the house. /"Hey, I am back./"

The door burst open as he walked into the kids high tech room full of monitors and computers.

/"You find anything on the base in Las Vegas?/" Savion asked, walking in.

David rolled his chair over to the computer on the desk. /"I did actually. Found a layout of the base and everything. It’s been reported several children has gone missing over the past few days alone. One I found interesting. A Clarissa Roberts. Recently been reported missing presumed dead, but show up on the radar several months later changed./"

Savion looked curious. /"Changed how?/"

David pulled up a report. /"The police report says she died at 6:00 a.m./" David pulled up a video feed of the girl. /"This is her after the Cloak got to her./" Another video showed up with the girl rocking back and forth while moving her hands in a circular motion creating some kind of electric field only two hours later.

/"They killed her and then enhanced her? Since when had that been their M.O?/"

David turned off the video. /"Since now./" He replied. /"They are evolving. I even read there are others that could be genetically enhanced./"

Savion sighed. /"Our enemy is evolving quicker than we can keep up./" David turned away afraid to speak out of turn. /"Is miss Armarria going to be ok out there alone?/"

/"Not sure, but it was her choice to go back. I am proud of you for spying on them and not getting caught. Take a break from all this stuff and be a normal kid for once huh?/"

David laughed. /"What is normal? All I can think about is protecting my family. I’m afraid Savion, that I’m not strong enough to protect them like you and Shadow. I used to talk to Melody every time those bastards../" Savion touched his shoulder.

/"I know David. It angers me as well still. You all are just kids. It should not have to be this way./"

David stood from his chair, fixing his glasses as he did so. /"I just don’t want anyone else facing the fate that we did. We have to stop them, but yet I’m so afraid of fighting. I’m afraid without you guys./" He wrapped his arms around Savion letting out his emotions. Savion lovingly placed his hand on the top of the teen’s head.

/"There will come a time David that you will surprise even yourself. Being able to kill is a curse I would not wish upon any of you. Shadow and I have stained souls. There is no going back for us. There is hope for you David. That time will come when you will know what to do./" David nodded, doubtful, but took the advice for what it was worth. Savion’s soul was stained, but he never stopped to consider the children’s souls. They all had seen too much and witnessed far too much to not be just as damaged as he was.

A couple of days passed since Armarria’s sexual encounter with Savion. Her body still ached for him and there was a sadness overwhelming her when she was alone. She swirled the straw around in her milkshake, imagining everything about him. His smile and his strength attracted her more than anything.

/"Mia?/" She looked at Ryan calling her name. Oh yeah. She forgot she had accepted his offer to have lunch with him. The sheer need for normalcy drove her back into his arms. She thought at least she would give him a chance to explain himself. The feeling of guilt overwhelmed her that Savion’s sex was so great that she thought about sexing him even while her heart was with Ryan.

That wasn’t right, but he cheated first. Her mind told her though he did cheat, two wrongs don’t make a right. She sighed at that fact because she wanted Savion again and the weird part was, it wasn’t just for his sex. She felt something more. That more was the very thing she was running from.

With Ryan, she knew she would never be able to allow herself to trust him again. She wouldn’t fall for the same trick over. That’s what she told herself he was only around for normalcy and that’s it.

/"You seem distracted. What’s going on? I was a tad bit shocked you called me after you let that savage beat my ass in the alley./"

Armarria rolled her eyes. /"He thought you were trying to attack me. I called you to check on you. I realized some things about myself recently and I just feel kind of lost./" She confessed, swirling her straw again. /"Ever since you cheated on me my life has turned upside down. I need some closure./"

/"I believe we can work this out, Mia. We’ve been together for so long. You know me./" He placed his hand on the table to reach for hers. She moved back.

/"Do I? I thought we could be married and love ONLY each other, but I was clearly wrong./"

Ryan shook his head. /"It’s not like that. Just give me another chance. We can make this work again this time, I promise./" He held his hand out again.

This time she accepted. Her skin felt oily where his hands and hers met, almost disgusting that she touched him. He wasn’t Savion for sure. Her body knew right away. She didn’t even know how she could even sleep with Ryan again after Savion. He changed her completely. It annoyed her that her body wasn’t hers anymore.

/"Come to dinner with me and I will show you. Let me make it up to you./" Ryan said while trying to make eye contact.

Armarria closed her eyes and thought for a moment. She felt a light sting on her arm like electricity shocked her hand. She opened her eyes in horror. All around her the people were dead with mass destruction all over the restaurant. She gasped and jumped back. Out of the destruction, she saw a man with a veil over his face and a long black robe.

/"Unleash your power./" The voices whispered.

/"NO!/" she screamed, jerking away.

/"Armarria please just give me another chance./" She looked around confused as the restaurant was back in place and Ryan was right in front of her. She was breathing heavy as her legs forced her to stand.

/"I will call you ok./"

Ryan stood up to chase after her. /"Mia wait./" She ran out the door.

She quickly got into her car and drove to her motel. She locked the door and began pacing the floor. The image she saw felt real. Her body was still shaking from the effects of it. She looked at the number on the dresser and felt the need to call him.

/"No Mia you can’t call him. No matter what happens./" She chatted to herself. Shaking her hands to get the nerves out, she finally was able to sit on the bed.

So much for normalcy. She sighed to herself. It was only a couple of days since she saw Savion but she couldn’t help but stare at the phone. She knew he would be disappointed she didn’t want to stay. He wouldn’t want to help her now that she needed to talk to someone who can actually make sense of it all with no trust for Ryan to tell him. The only person she had was Savion.

After hours of fighting herself, she picked up the phone. After the twentieth time hanging up she finally dialed the number. It rang twice and then there he was.

/"Armarria./"

Her heart fluttered instantly at the sound of his voice like a heavy weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

/"I’m sorry I know I told you I wouldn’t speak to you again, but I couldn’t stop myself./" What have you done to me would’ve been her next question. She could sense he was smirking over the phone.

/"I will call you right back./" He hung up quickly.

Armarria looked at the phone for a second becoming pissed he hung up so quickly. She slammed the phone down in a huff. It rung again the next second. She answered.

/"I am sorry I had to hang up quickly. The phone you have at the motel can be traced back to me if someone wanted to track me. This is a secure line, now we can talk. Even though you did say we would not speak again./"

Armarria sat on her bed. /"It’s nice to hear your voice. I couldn’t stop myself from calling you. I tried./" She confessed tears beginning to run.

/"What is wrong Armarria?/" His voice was so soothing and comforting.

She held her head in her hand. /"I saw them all dead. Everyone. A man walked up to me and for some reason, he scared me. I can’t remember him, but then I was back in the restaurant and the people were alive. Am I going crazy?/"

Savion grabbed a towel from the chair, wiping his face from the sweat that dripped down his face from his workout.

/"No. Tell me what the man looked like./"

/"I couldn’t see his face. He had on a veil and an all-black robe./" Savion’s eyes widen his heart began to pound loudly in his chest in fear for her.

/"He told me to unleash my power./" Armarria cried harder. /"Who was he?/"

Savion sat on the weightlifting bench. /"A Cloak member. I could not tell you which one, they hid their identity well. I do not want to scare you, but that means they know where you are. You should get your things and get out of the motel./"

Armarria sniffed. /"I don’t have anywhere to go./"

Savion sighed. /"I know I am sorry./"

/"I should’ve just took your offer and stayed with you guys./"

She took the words out of his mouth. Savion knew he would regret what he would say next.

/"Your life can never be normal again Armarria. I warned you./" He fussed. /"Just ask me./"

He took a deep breath to contain his anger. Not at her but himself for not being there with her.

Armarria sniffed, afraid to ask, but realizing she didn’t have a choice. There was a knock at the door on Armarria’s end.

/"Who is it?/" she asked cautiously.

/"It’s me, Mia. Open up./"

Armarria began to wipe her eyes. /"I have to go./" She hung up the phone.

/"Armarria no! Do not…/" Savion cursed when he heard the dial tone.

Grabbing his shirt he ran up the stairs. /"Shadow I have to go help her. Do not try and stop me./" He said going out the door, knowing Shadow would hear him. He had to bring Armarria back with him this time. He refused to leave without her by his side.

Armarria opened the door for Ryan. /"What are you doing here? Did you follow me?/"

Ryan reached to hug her but she backed away. His touch was disgusting to her now.

/"Mia some people came to the restaurant as soon as you left looking for you. I followed you here./"

Armarria’s eyes widened as she began to lock the door.

/"What did they look like?/" She panicked. Ryan shrugged.

/"They had masks over their faces. Some kind of veil./"

She gasped, hurrying and reaching for the phone.

/"What are you doing? Are you calling the police?/"

She ignored him and dialed Savion. He answered on the first ring.

/"Stay put. I am coming to you./" Ryan’s face grew angry.

/"Was that the prick in the alley?/" He reached and snatched the phone away from her hands hanging it up.

/"Ryan he can help me. There are things going on you don’t understand./"

Ryan crossed his arms. /"Then explain it to me, Mia. You didn’t want to give me a second chance when you’ve been doing this guy all along behind my back. You’re a hypocrite!/" He pushed her down on the bed.

Armarria began to cry. /"Ryan stop! You are hurting me./" He was mounted on top of her shaking her forcefully.

/"I loved you Mia and you choose that guy over me!/" He threw his hands up ready to slap her.

/"No!/" Armarria’s eyes went black as the flow of power took over her.

Time had stood still as Ryan’s hand froze inches away from her face. He struggled to move.

/"What are you?/" he struggled to move. /"What have you done to me?/"

Her eyes opened wider sending Ryan flying into the opposite wall, hitting his head on the TV stand on the way down. Armarria snapped out of her trance, horrified.

/"Ryan I’m sorry. Ryan! Please don’t be dead./" His body was just laid out on the floor, blood pooling from his head wound, but he was alive.

She hurried to the bathroom cabinet and pulled out bandages and anything else she could find to seal the wound. She sat on her bed for a time and stared into deep space. Maybe a couple of minutes or hours later the lights began to flicker. Armarria looked around the room terrified. A girl bursts open the door with a black aura surrounding her.

Armarria stood up from the bed with her hands up in front of her. /"Don’t come any closer./"

The girl walked forwards as her neck popped and her movements were stiff like she was a zombie of some kind. Armarria’s wrists began to feel the electric shock from the girl as she placed her hands down in pain.

/"They want you. They are waiting for you./" The girl whispered in a low ominous tone.

/"Who?/" Armarria asked.

Before she could explain the girl twisted her wrist, painfully shocking Armarria through her body. She screamed while falling to the ground, shaking. The intruder loomed over her.

/"You’re not that special./" The intruder placed her hand above Armarria’s face preparing some kind of attack.

Savion began to convulse as if he was being attacked in the car. He was close now fifteen minutes away from Armarria’s motel. He held his chest in pain. Something was happening to her. Somehow he had guessed they were connected. He was feeling her pain.

That angered him, causing him to speed out of control, zipping back and forth through traffic. He had to get to her. He pulled up to the motel, sensing the surge of power coming from her room. He hurried, but remained stealthy, preparing for anything. He peeked around the corner inside her room seeing no one. He cursed walking in. He looked down to his right to see Ryan on the floor with a head gash unconscious.

Trying to feel sympathy for the man he touched his pulse on his hand to check if he was alive. There was a pulse. Savion continued to look around the room. Armarria was on the floor beside the bed, convulsing. Savion grabbed her gently.

/"Hey, Armarria look at me./" He caressed her cheeks. Her eyes opened, black as night, as she pushed Savion away from her the same way she had done Ryan.

Savion hit the wall, surprised, but landed on his feet, unscathed. /"She’s under my control./" Savion turned to the intruder walking out of the bathroom.

/"They didn’t tell me she wasn’t alone./" Her hands twisted painfully.

Savion could feel the sting but wasn’t fazed. /"You are that girl from Las Vegas who died,/" Savion remembered. /"Clarissa Roberts right?/"

The girl tilted her head. /"I’m not her anymore./" She began attacking Savion, swinging left with an electrically charged hand. Savion dodged expertly, avoiding her hands at all cost.

/"You are following the Cloaks orders. You do not have to listen to them./" He grabbed her wrist, trying not to hurt the girl.

/"I don’t have a choice./" Her hand twisted violently and the surge of electricity flowed through her arm.

Savion grunted as the power shocked through his body, but he never pulled away.

/"You don’t know what they will do./" She kicked Savion, but Savion threw her down on the bed forcefully. She was nothing compared to Savion’s strength.

/"I know exactly what those bastards are capable of. This is your last chance./" He grabbed the girl by her throat, ruthlessly. /"Release Armarria now./" He demanded as he squeezed her throat.

She gasped for air. Clarissa grabbed his hand to give a shock, but the effects didn’t work. After trying harder she released Armarria from her hold. Savion dropped the girl back on the bed as Armarria began to choke.

He ran over to her. /"Savion you’re here./" She still coughed but reached for him.

/"I am. Let me get you out of here./"

Clarissa stood up from the bed. /"NO!/" She screamed. /"I need her!/" She gathered all her energy for a final attack.

/"Clarissa stop you will kill yourself!/" Savion warned.

She continued to scream until all her powers gathered. Savion grabbed Armarria and threw her into the bathroom. He knew he had to do the unthinkable. His eyes became red as he walked over to Clarissa.

/"My apologies./" He reached around her dark aura as she powered up, grabbed her neck again, and twisted.

She fell limp to the floor. Savion sighed. Killing was part of what he was. He hated that side of himself, the necessary evil to keep everyone safe. Armarria walked out of the bathroom.

/"You killed her?/" She gasped.

/"She was already dead. The cloak used her as some kind of experiment./"

Armarria placed her hands over her mouth as the girl faded to dust. She looked over at Ryan.

/"We have to leave now./" Savion continued as he began to walk out the door.

Armarria nodded, grabbing a bag and followed cautiously behind Savion back to his car. Savion called 911 to come for Ryan while they drove away.
