Losing someone you love..?

She closed the door slowly and I groaned. Once I heard she was downstairs, I turned on my small television at the front of the room. I grabbed the remote and made myself comfortable. I laid myself on my bed and grabbed snacks from my secret stash under my bed. I scrolled through my recommendations until I found something worth watching. It was a show with over 7 seasons, which should keep me entertained for the time being. I watched for an hour or two before getting interrupted by my sister. "Come in!" I said after she knocked on the door. "Want dinner?" She said holding a plate of steak. "Sure," I said putting my snacks away. "How are you feeling?" She says handing me the plate and drink. "Good," I say, placing my cup to the side. "Want to tell me what happened yet?" She says looking directly at me. "Nah" I say not really wanting to tell her anything. "If you say so, but you're gonna have to tell me sometime" She says as she holds the door. "Yea, someday" I say as I munch on my steak. She walks out and closes the door slowly. I ignore her and finish my show. "1 season finished." I say after approximately an hour. I looked outside my window and I saw Alexa walking to the house in front of me. I knocked on the window and she turned to look at me. I waved and she waved back. She made a hand motion, signifying me to come. I put my shoes on and made my way outside. My sister was in her room, which was perfect. I opened the front door and walked over to her. "Hey" I said as I approached her. "Hi!" She said with her books in hand. "Do you live there?" I said pointing to the house in front of mine. "No, my grandma does. I came to bring her cookies." She said, taking out the cookies from her backpack. "Oh, I live right here" I said pointing to my house. "I see, you must know my grandma then?" she said as she put her books in her bag. "Yea, I do" I said with one hand behind my head. "Do you wanna go see her?" She said moving towards the house. "Sure," I said walking alongside her. She opened the door and we walked in. "Grandma! I'm here! I came to bring you cookies! I hope you don't mind that I brought a friend." She said as we walked in. The word "Friend.." echoed in my head. I had a friend…? A real friend..? "It's fine honey, bring them to the kitchen table." I heard a distant voice say from a room. "Ok, thank you!" She said walking to the kitchen table. She placed the cookies, then walked to the room her grandma was in. "May we come in?" Alexa said while knocking on the door. "Yes sweetie" She said. We walked in, and the room was full of string, yarn, and sweaters everywhere. She was sitting on a sofa, knitting. "Oh, you brought him!" She said looking up at me. "Yea we met in school today" Alexa said walking towards her. "Yes, he's a good boy. He helped me save Luca." she said pointing towards the cat at the corner of the room. "Yea I remember him" I said walking towards Luca. I kneeled down and petted him. He purred and closed his eyes. "That's nice." Alexa said looking towards our direction. "We better get going now Grandma. I'll see you next week" Alexa said walking towards the room door. "Ok hun. I'll see you two love birds later" She said smiling. Alexa and I turned red and I yelled "What? We just met today!" I stood up and walked outside. "Grandma!" Alexa screamed. "Bye hun" She said ignoring us. We walked out, and once we got to the front step Alexa said "Sorry about her, she can be embarrassing". She was bright pink and I was too. "It's alright," I said clearly sweating. "Cya," She said waving. "Bye" I said walking towards my house. I opened the door and went up to my room. Those 15 minutes were the worst 15 minutes of my life. What the heck was she thinking? We're not together.

I sighed and went back to watching my show. About the 20th time I sighed today alone. Life. I just hoped my sister did not see me. If she saw me, she'd ask the most embarrassing questions, and I was not going to answer them. "Keith!" I heard my sister scream. She startled me, which made me worry what she wanted to know. "Who was that?" I heard her say from outside of my door. "Uhhhhh," I started. "A friend…?" I said finally. I jinxed myself earlier. Why Keith, why? "A girl, is your first friend?!" She said. The door opened and she looked like a fan girl. "What's her name? Does she have a brother? Is she nice? How does she smell? Do you like her" Are just a few of the millions of questions she asked. ;-;

My face was: Red, embarrassed, tired, and most importantly annoyed. Ugh Sisters, they can be the most annoying humans in the world. "Get out," I said calmly, avoiding her questions. "But-" she started. "Out" I said once again this time more firmly. "Fine" she said, looking like a broken hearted first grader. "Finally" I said after she was out of my room. "I heard that!" she screamed from outside my door. "Wow you have ears, want a medal?" I said sarcastically. I then heard her make her way to her room which was a huge relief. I groaned and flopped myself on my bed. It was 8:46 pm and I was ready to head to bed. I would stay up longer, but I was not going to risk having Kate come into my room again. I should probably mention, my sister's name is Kate. I headed off to bed with no worry at all, if she came in she would have to go out because I was asleep.

[Next Morning]

I woke up about 3 times last night, for some reason. I couldn't sleep, it was pretty annoying because I was tired. My sister usually has to wake me up, but I woke up on my own this morning. I put my sheets to the side, took a shower, got dressed, and ate breakfast an hour before my sister woke up. I was sitting downstairs reading a book, before my sister came out of her room. "Awake already?" she said as she approached the kitchen. "Yea, I wasn't tired" I said looking up at her. She grabbed a glass and filled it with orange juice. She drank about ¾ of it, then she went back upstairs. "I'm going to get ready for school, just sit tight." She said halfway up the stairs. "Ok" I said, putting my head back towards my book. 15 minutes later, I was bored out of my mind. I wanted to walk to school on my own, but didn't know if Kate was willing to let me go on my own. I went upstairs to her room, and knocked on her door. "Yes?" She said. "Can I walk to school on my own?" I said hesitantly. "Only if you promise to be responsible next time, and tell me when you leave the house on your own." She said from the inside of her room. "Sure, can I go on my own?" I said again. "Yes, bye." she said. "Thanks! Bye" I yelled down the stairs. I'm not sure if she said "bye" to me, because if she did it was very faint. I ran downstairs, grabbed my phone, bag and headed outside. I crossed the street and walked on the sidewalk path to the school. I got out my phone and started scrolling through spotify. I put on a recommendations radio and plugged my headphones in. I put my phone in my pocket and kept on walking.

[Third Person Perspective]

The sun was scintillating and shining brightly. He was crossing the street, until a car recklessly drove over him. He was tossed on the roof of the car, and fell down as the car speeded away. People rushed to his aid, but he was bleeding everywhere. His back had a large bruise, his hand was half cut, his face was blistering with blood and there was no hope in his life. At least three people called 9-1-1 but they were going to take a while to come. There was a crowd of over 10 people surrounding him, and two people had wrapped his cuts and bruises with sweatshirts and anything that would stop the bleeding. 20 minutes later, the ambulances came speeding down the neighborhood and stopped near the sidewalk. They examine his cuts and bruises and try to find anything they can stop from bleeding. They bandaged the least damaged bruises and put him in their ambulance. On the way to the hospital, he becomes conscious and starts breathing very slowly. He is reassured he will be alright, but things will only go downhill from there…

[Keith's POV]

The last thing I remember was walking down the street, then pitch black. It was all a blur, screaming, shouting, comfort voices, and worried expressions. I couldn't feel my legs, and my back had an awful pain. My phone was on the side of the road, scratched up, and broken. My head was hurting, my back was painful, and all I felt was pain. It felt like a thousand needles were being stabbed into my back and no matter how hard I tried to pull them out, they'd hurt more. All I could think about was my sister, my school, my only friend, and my life. Everything could be gone in the blink of an eye, and you wouldn't know until you see it was gone, feel it's gone, and realize it's gone. I was worried that if I woke up again I would have no leg, no back, no hand, or no life. Sometimes, the easiest things like breathing, could become the hardest things to do.

[Alexa POV]

"Pathetic" he says after he tosses me to the floor. "W-why?" I say with the little strength I have left. My hand over my shoulder, and my legs swollen with bruises. "Why? You want to know why? It's because you're a little goody two shoes and you're innocent and kind, and you have NO IDEA what real PAIN is!" He yells, hitting me back with his dirty sneaker. I open my mouth to respond, but nothing comes out. He walks towards the door and turns off the light, he closes the door and locks it tight. My head hits the ground as I pass out in pain. I remember thinking, why? Why do I deserve this pain? Why is my life like this? I accept the pain at this point, because I know somewhere in the world people have worse pain than me, people are dying, people are crying in their bedrooms because of the pain they have to endure every single day. I'm just one in a million, no one cares about me. I wake up to darkness. I see ambulances outside and the sun halfway up. I see a kid lying in the middle of the street, probably dead. I close my eyes and hope this is all a dream, I hope that today I have a better day. I open my eyes to the realization, that none of this is a dream, this is the real world and I can't stop living it. I'm tired of pain, and I bet so are you. I'm tired of crying, hurting, and not being able to stand up for myself. I washed my face and put on new clothes. I grabbed everything that was important to me and ran outside. I ran to the school and I put everything in my locker. I decided to ask Keith for help this morning, and I started asking where he was. There was some sort of commotion about some kid in the hospital which I didn't want to be a part of. I walked up to a kid and asked him "Have you seen Keith?". "Keith? Oh yea, he's in the hospital. The WHOLE school is talking about him, he got hit by a car this morning and is probably not going to make it. Sorry" He said. As soon as I heard those words, I lost it. He was my only real friend, he was the only person I could trust aside from my grandma. I ran to the girls room and cried. I cried an ocean, and did not stop crying. About the 6th period, a janitor came into the bathrooms. I was sitting in the corner of a stall just sniffling and crying. "Hey miss, what's wrong?" I hear a woman's voice say from in front of me. I look up, and see it's the school's janitor. "Nothing, it's fine" I say with a smile standing up. "No dear, it's not fine. Want to come to my office to talk about it? I can give you a cup of coffee if you'd prefer it?" she says offering me. "Sure, thank you" I say walking alongside her. We walk to her office at the back of the hallway, and walk inside. It had a peppermint smell to it, and it was beautiful inside. She put her hand towards the seat and I sat in it. She brought me a cup of coffee and a donut. "Here dear, eat up" She said offering me the food. "Thank you," I said, accepting the offer. I took a few bites of the donut, and a few sips on the coffee. She sat in the seat in front of me and asked me "What to tell me what's wrong dear? I can't help you fix the problem if I don't know what the problem is," She chuckled and took out a tissue box. I felt comfortable telling her everything, because I knew she could help me. Her face brightened up, waiting for a response. "Yea sure. My dad always abuses, and hits me when I do nothing wrong, and I just learned my only friend is in the hospital and probably won't make the day out alive." I said while looking down at the floor. "Poor girl, you've been through a lot. Are you going to go back home?" she said, expressing concern. "No, I took everything and put it in my locker, I need a place to stay. I'm never going back home. I was going to ask Keith to help me, until I learned he was in the hospital.." I said with my eyes starting to tear up. "Drink some coffee, relax yourself. Then I can help you, take a few breaths. :)" she said with a smile. "Thank you, very much," I said covering my wet face. "It's no problem, you can use your phone in here too, I don't mind." she said standing up to open a cabinet. "Ok, thank you" I said while pulling out my phone from my bag. I browsed the news, hoping for some new information about Keith. I stopped at the first news report about him. It was a picture of him laying on the floor, his hand looked awfully bad and his back was so bruised and cut. I clicked on it and listened to the video. "Keith Robinson, after being hit by a car with major injuries is alive. He is said to be recovering but in critical condition. The driver of the car that ran over him is in custody and is waiting for trial." said the news lady. My face brightened up, Keith was alive, and safe. I decided to visit him later today, which got me all excited. "Are you ready to talk about it?" the janitor said, looking at me. "Yes, I decided to visit Keith later today, but I still have no place to stay" I said disappointed. "You can stay at my place, I know it's too much to ask, and you probably don't know me at all, but I have an empty room and I live alone with my dog. I would be happy to take care of you for the time being." She said with a smile, while looking at the floor.
