Charlotte froze in place, her mind spiraling as she studied Ethan's face. His expression couldn't be read, and his sharp gaze gave nothing away.
Did he remember her from the beach? She couldn't tell.
Without a word, Ethan turned to Mr. Harris. "You can leave us."
"Yes, sir," Mr. Harris replied and quickly exited, leaving Charlotte alone with Ethan.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Charlotte began, her voice trembling slightly, "Mr. Grayson, I just want to apologize for—"
"You're here to work, Miss Williams." Ethan raised a hand, cutting her off. "Let's not waste time discussing irrelevant matters."
Her breath hitched, clearly taken aback.
The warm, casual man from the beach was gone, replaced by a cold, authoritative figure. She swallowed her words, unsure how to respond.
"How many languages do you speak?" Ethan's voice broke through her thoughts.
Caught off guard, Charlotte hesitated. "Just one...English."
