Alec just nodded, assuring Daphne Tjia not to worry. Although still unsure, Daphne Tjia relented. He stood on the edge that separated Alec's room from the garden, watching Ansel Balder push the wheelchair away.
"I'm glad you're aware. Thank you for everything. Without you, Daphne Tjia and I would not be here," said Ansel Balder, who walked with Alec across the rocky path in the park to a row of shade trees.
"It is my duty to protect you and your future wife."
"She's my future wife, but loves you," Ansel Balder replied.
Alec didn't argue. Love is something that can be seen and felt. Alec felt such great love. Women like Daphne Tjia are willing to shave it. The tenderness felt was so real. Daphne Tjia seemed to be careful not to hurt him.
"Don't think I'm happy to see you like this, Alec. I'm not that bad of a human."
