Chapter(50)

Episode(50): The Silver Asura Sage appears, Something wrong with his head!

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(50)

Dark shadows coiled together in the air and converged to form solid matter. Out of nowhere a spear oozing a menacing aura appeared in the air above Sullivan.

He slightly curled his fingers and the spear began to rotate at such a high speed that it didn't even seem to be spinning in the eyes of others.

Sullivan looked at the pathetic excuse for a hero and curled his lips.

Indeed, trash like this deserved to die earlier on than become a hindrance later.

If the hero had even the slightest ounce of promise his end would have been different.

Sullivan would have allowed Renji to live because in this long game of hero vs demon king the entertainment he would bring wouldn't be few at all.

But such a salted fish, sigh.

At this point they just needed a new hero altogether.

Renji closed his eyes preparing for death.

His heart was thumping wildly and he really didn't want to accept dying such a pathetic death.

Why should a hero like him die like some nameless mob when the story hasn't even begun?

Wasn't that just saying he was delusional from the get go?

Even until the end, Renji never changed his way of thinking.

If he died he would resent the demon for disturbing the plot.

Resent the heavens for allowing him to die such a useless death and resent the world for not coming to his rescue.

With all the hatred in his heart, Renji waited patiently for his death to come.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three...wait?

Death never came. What was happening?

Was dying always such a slow process?

Renji opened his eyes and was immediately flabbergasted. That was because the black spear was mere centimeters from piercing his forehead.

Renji retreated in horror.

That was a close one indeed. If it had been any closer he really would have died but what was happening?

He Heard footsteps coming up beside him and glance back to notice a man.

He held out his right hand an invisible force seem to hold the struggling black spear in place. Although it seemed to want to continue its course it was completely unable to do so and it saved Renji by a hairs breadth.

Renji wanted to pat his chest in relief but he couldn't throw away his face by doing this. Even if he was saved he had to make it seem like he had things under control.

The man glanced over at Renji.

He was a middle aged man that seemed about to enter old age.

His facial features were like all those he had seen in this world and he looked like a westerner.

The man didn't have much of an expression and his tone was polite as he asked in concern.

[Hero, are you okay?!]

Hearing the man's voice, Renji came back to his senses and he frowned slightly.

It was one thing for a woman to worry about his safety but for a guy to do the same.

It felt so uncomfortable and disgusting that he couldn't help but gaze up at his savior with disdain.

[Motherf*cking old badger!? Who the hell do you think you are and why did you get in my way!!]

The man was taken aback.

He had a flabbergasted look on his face and his eyes were open wide in confusion.

[G-Get in your way? Didn't I just save you from dying?]

Renji was literally milliseconds away from dying. If he hadn't intervened the brat would have long died but what was this?

He looked at Renji and thought that this guy was just too arrogant.

Want to save face but aren't you afraid he would leave you to your death?

Renji sneered.

[Old geezer bastard. You just disrupted my plans!]

Just from the way he shouted confidently you might have really thought he had the situation under control.

But don't be mistaken.

Renji just had too much pride, so how could he lower his chin and give gratitude?

This old guy should just feel honored he can be graced by his presence.

So what if you save him? Did he ask for it?

[Hmph! Want to look cool and act tough. Look at your age 'elder', aren't you embarrassed to be playing around? How dare you steal my thunder??!!]

The man was so astonished that he could only grit his teeth in frustration.

[Ungrateful little....]

He had never seen such an ungrateful little twat in all his life ever.

Truly, this was the first!

It was also the first time he had such a strong urge to punch someone, however because of his status as the hero he didn't dare lay hands on the brat.

He wished he could curse his ancestors but where would his dignity go as the senior? How could he face others in the future if he were to argue with a stupid kid?

He could only sigh.

Right now he needed to focus on repelling the demon so focusing on a mindless brat was nothing but wasting brain cells.

Seriously, if not for his title as hero the man would have long kicked Renji to the side ages ago.

[Kid, Look at the situation and stopping being foolish!]

Renji's face twisted.

First was this arrogant demon and now was this damned old fossil, where did they get the courage?

[Who are you calling a fool you sh*tty geezer?!]

He cursed the old man without restrain.

Seriously, how dare they make fun of the heavens chosen!?

Dammit!

Not only was his pride trampled on but an old man made a cooler entrance than he did!

Renji felt like he had lost face to the point he could only grit his teeth in envy! No!

He couldn't let this old guy's momentum continue to undermine his own.

[Hahaha! Old guy! Do you know, I'm the hero! God's chosen! The sole protagonist of this world!!! I was born to stand above others while you side characters should enviously grovel at my feet while trying to get to my level.....only to be disappointed in the end! Hahaha!

Who in the hell even are you to overwhelm me!? Do you not fear the wrath of the heavens]

Sigh.

What nonsense was this kid rambling on about?

The old man had pity and frustration in his eyes.

This was the hero?

He seemed like a mental nutcase more than a hero.

Seriously, even for heroes shouldn't there be some sort of recruitment qualifications and conditions?

Did they just pick anyone to be a hero these days?

But the old man was also angry.

Even if the brat had issues with his brain how dare he speak to an elder like this?

But he was helpless because the brat was a hero and not someone he could casually reprimand.

At this rate even his young troublemakers of grandchildren seemed a lot better than this hero.

He wasn't the hero's caretaker either so he seriously had no reason to teach him to act otherwise.

For now, he ignored the disrespectful tone of Renji and spoke calmly with his hands behind his back.

Now he resembled a senior in a wuxia novel except his momentum was completely thrown off pace by Renji.

[I am the Sage of the Silver Asura magic tower]

Glancing forward at the grinning Sullivan, the sage had a serious and stern expression on his face.

He was on the middle of a serious experiment trying to create a new magic that would revolutionize the magic industry, but he never expected to sense a dense and oppressive demonic presence show up all of a sudden.

[I immediately rushed over to assist with the situation. After all, I as one of the sages could not allow the hero to die before facing the demon king]

The sage stood firmly before Renji like a shield unwilling to see the person behind it get hurt.

[Worry not hero! I definitely won't allow you to get hurt!]

After saying this much the sage smiled.

He thought his words would have touched the hero and this might allow him to calm down. Who wouldn't feel honored seeing another person sacrifice themselves for you?

The sage didn't believe Renji would be so ungrateful.

Well, he clearly underestimated Renji Aikawa.

[Grrrr…..]

Renji grit his teeth growling like a dog.

His expression was extremely ugly at this time and he wanted to slap this old guy to death.

[Shut up!! Who needs your help! I already had things under control so don't spout nonsense old fossil!]

What if others heard?

What would happen to his face?

Renji could allow anything but he definitely couldn't, no he wouldn't lose face in this life no matter what.

The sage's expression fell to a frown.

'Brat'

Really, when had he ever encountered such an unruly little twat?

This was the first!

If it was any other person he would have secretly slapped them through the void but huhu, this one was too lucky that his status was higher than his own.

He really just wanted to humph and leave.

See how you 'have everything under control' then.

But, looking at the eerie smile on the demons face he knew he couldn't leave the situation like this.

And even if he was upset, the hero was still a huge asset to the human race so he couldn't allow the brat to die. He sighed.

At the same time Sullivan smiled.

The ominous smiled stretched up to his ears and even as his magic was stopped in midair his smile only grew deeper and more ominous.

So what if you caught my magic?

"Kehaha!"

Sullivan suddenly released a chilling laughter.

His deep gaze seemed to completely see through the sage and the hero and it was like no one had anything they could hide from this demon.

[I originally expected this country to have garbage warriors just like the hero they summon, but….seems I was a bit too confident in my perspective]

Sullivan nodded.

[It turns out you not only have ants, you also have slightly stronger ants as well]

A chuckle escaped his lips.

In his eyes he really couldn't take these humans seriously. It wasn't that he was mocking them but his thoughts were truly thinking of everyone as nothing but ants.

[I guess this moment is suitable for the term, 'never judge a book by its cover', yeah?]

But Sullivan wouldn't bully them too much.

Where was the fun in such a situation?

No, he licked his lips.

He had to toy with these guys to get the most fun out of them.

The sage obviously saw the disdain in the demons eyes and frowned.

[But I'm the Sage]

As amicable as he might be, he was still the sage.

He wouldn't let just anyone look down on him and especially not a demon.

[Don't put me on the same level as a brat. I've seen many wars and many arrogant and cocky demons like you fall in a puddle of their own blood because they were too conceited]

[Keha! Is that so?]

He snorted.

What bullsh*t.

So what if a couple small fry die.

Sullivan was different from those fools that only know boasting.

If not for toying around would this old man still have the life to speak such words?

[Well, I guess you have stock to be confident old man? Alright, unlike some infant hero I guess a battle with an elder of your level should bring a somewhat level of excitement]

Flap!

His black wings extended and flapped once instantly releasing a violent wind.

There was no magic but the wind felt strong enough to cause a hurricane. Some people were even instantly blasted into a wall.

The sage didn't have time to save them and could only erect a barrier before himself and Renji in time.

Sullivan chuckled.

[Why don't you show me something fun?]

Ah, he was doomed!

The sage genuinely felt like he was doomed at this moment.

Sure, he blocked the guys move but if just a casual flap of his wings caused such destruction then how would he beat the guy?

Even though he had confidence in his strength, the monster before him was unlike any other he had ever seen before!

Alarms bells kept ringing in his head warning him not to face this guy.

If someone said he was the demon king he really wouldn't be able to deny that fact at all.

Yet, this was only a lackey.

Then how strong was the demon king?

How terrifying.

[Get up and retreat. You're no match for this demon in your state brat]

Feeling the pressure, the sage had no time to baby sit Renji and he needed to focus all his efforts on this fight.

[Grrr!]

Renji was like a dog ready to bite as he growled.

The sage however clicked his tongue, what kind of beast was this? Was his brain kicked by a donkey as a child or was he just born stupid?

[Don't glare at me brat]

He shook his head.

Why did he have to deal with such a childish fellow?

[I'm under serious pressure just facing this guy's aura and I really don't have the time or energy to protect you so don't waste time]

The demon had to be dealt with here and now.

Even if it was just to make the demon retreat that was enough.

Just because he was the sage didn't mean he would be conceited and stupidly underestimate his opponent after all, he could feel the other party's aura as clear as day.

It wasn't like he had issues with his head.

He lifted his hands and a force hoisted Renji into the air before throwing him a few meters away from the fight.

He then sighed and looked back at Sullivan with a serious expression.

[Get ready demon, I'll let you have a taste of this Sage in full power mode!]

In response, Sullivan smiled eerily and laughed wildly.

[Hahaha, Come! humor me human!]
