84. Beru Wannabe
Jin Woo who keeps a low profile among the S-Rank hunters look at the humanoid beetle boss. Its appearance reminds him of Beru although its power is a little weaker than Beru.
The Rulers actually have done things to enhance the monsters' power per Jin Woo's request. It's the reason they can have so many S-Rank monsters to create S-Rank Gates.
The only monster that doesn't get enhanced was Kamish. It would be really bad if that Dragon was stronger than it supposed to be. After all, that Dragon was meant to warn mankind and also for Indra to kill while he was still not too strong.
Other monsters are enhanced using a method that Jin Woo and the Rulers created. It sacrifices the monsters' life forces, but it's not a problem because those monsters are meant to be killed anyway.
Them being stronger is actually better because stronger monsters give better resources for mankind. Also, stronger monsters release more magic power upon death which will help Earth and humans grow faster for the incoming danger.
Though Jin Woo never thought they could create a monster almost as strong as Beru before the Ant King became a shadow soldier. He is pleased because it means he will have another strong shadow soldier.
"Now, I wonder who will kill that thing."
He knows some of the National Level Hunters are strong enough to go against that boss alone. But there are still other beetle monsters to take care of.
The number of these beetles isn't as high as the ants in Jeju Island. But each of them is stronger and much tougher than an ant, also, they are gigantic, making them just as problematic.
While everyone is being wary of the boss that has just come out of the broken Gate, someone suddenly attacks the boss at a very high speed.
It's Dewi. She suddenly appears at the boss's location and sends a kick to its head after killing a giant beetle monster.
But her kick is blocked by the boss even though she moves very fast. She sends more attacks, but the boss blocks all of them.
"FOCUS ON THE BEETLES! I WILL HANDLE THE BOSS SO IT WON'T BOTHER YOU."
The boss then sends a claw attack. It's very fast, but Dewi dodges it before sending a punch which gets blocked. Both of them start exchanging blows and no one can land a hit on each other.
It amazes the S-Ranks who can't see their movements. Their movements only look like flashes to the S-Ranks who are considered the best hunters in the world.
Even the National Level Hunters are having a hard time keeping up with their speed. Only some like Il Hwan, Thomas, Zhigang, Jonas, and Ragnar can see their movements.
Obviously Jin Woo can see them just fine, but he won't make a move because it seems Dewi can handle the fight just fine even though the buffs from the S-Rank healers have gone.
"She doesn't even activate the power buffs of her gears and only uses her armor for defensive purposes throughout the raid. Is she actually stronger than father and Thomas?"
Jin Woo can feel that Dewi doesn't use the buffs that Indra placed on her gears using Rune Magic. Her armor is really used just for defense and she doesn't even use weapons.
She keeps fighting only using her own power and body except for when she gets some buffs from some S-Rank Healers in the beginning of the raid.
But it seems she thinks she doesn't need them, so she doesn't ask for buffs anymore after the previous buffs wear off.
"She seems to be stronger than I remember. There's no way she actually can get stronger like her brother, right?"
Jin Woo has an odd feeling about Dewi's power, but he can't confirm it. Though it's still a good thing that she is this strong. With her level of power, she can handle most of the Monarchs' soldiers.
He keeps watching Dewi's battle while also acting as if he is fighting the monsters seriously to hide his real power because he still hasn't fully recovered.
Dewi's fight looks very intense as she stands in equal ground with the boss, at least strength wise because soon the situation changes.
After fighting equally for a while, Dewi starts overwhelming the boss. Her attacks are hitting the boss more often while the boss still can't hit Dewi.
Both of them still have the same speed and strength as before, but it's clear that Dewi has more experience and better techniques.
Previously, Dewi actually was just feeling out the boss's power and skills. Now she finally decides to seriously try defeating it as she starts using better techniques.
She uses feints too sometimes which fool the boss that only fights using its instinct. Her Martial Art skills are very advanced that even the boss's strong instinct can't handle them.
Feeling furious, the boss finally uses its Magic Skills. It screams and creates powerful dark purple soundwaves that spread in all directions.
Dewi who is the closest to it receives the most damage. She doesn't even have time to get away because the skill was cast in an instant.
The effect of that sound attack is truly bad for Dewi whose hearing becomes very strong after transforming into her Moon Rabbit form.
Her ears are ringing hard and her head hurts so much because of that scream attack she receives from a very close distance. Some blood even comes out of her ears because of that.
Her concentration is disrupted, so she can't respond to the boss's claw attack. It hits her face and sends her flying quite far until she crashes onto the barrier, shaking it a bit.
The boss seems delighted, but then it gets surprised seeing Dewi stand. There's no injury too on her face even after receiving such a powerful attack.
"Ugh! My brother's magic in the armor increases my overall defense, so that claw attack doesn't injure me. But it seems that Sound Magic attack couldn't be blocked by his magic. This will be troublesome."
Dewi's body suddenly gets covered with a bright green-yellow light. An S-Rank Healer nearby is casting Healing Magic on her even without being asked to, which she is really grateful for.
But the problem with the boss's Sound Magic still remains the same. She will just get into the same situation if she can't solve that problem.
Furthermore, that Sound Magic doesn't only affect her, but also everyone else. It gives the Hunters a strong headache, disturbing their movements while the beetle monsters seem to get stronger and aggressive after hearing that scream.
"Buffing its troops while debuffing its enemies with a single scream, how troublesome."
Even Jin Woo thinks that Magic Skill was bad news. Although it also makes him excited for when the boss becomes his shadow soldier.
While he thinks of that, the Hunters are being pushed back by the remaining monsters. The Healers quickly heal the hunters, but healing so many people at once is not easy and takes time.
Meanwhile, the boss is attacking Dewi again. It locks its eyes on Dewi because she has been injuring it, making the boss furious.
Seeing its Sound Magic attack works, the boss decides to use another Sound Magic attack. It opens its mouth and shoots a beam made of dark purple soundwave circles.
Dewi wants to dodge, but then she realizes that she is near the barrier. If that attack hits the barrier, then it might break and the monsters will pour out, so she can't dodge.
"Tsk! I guess I need to try using that."
She folds her rabbit ears to cover the ear holes as much as she can. Then her right arm starts glowing bright white that blinds her surroundings.
Dewi then sends a very fast and strong straight punch that even those like Il Hwan can't see at the sound beam when it almost reaches her.
Her punch is so fast and powerful that it creates a very powerful shockwave. That shockwave actually counters the Sound Beam and they destroy each other.
"Nice! It works!"
Although a shockwave and a soundwave are not exactly the same, they are still forms of vibrations. So they can get in contact and neutralize each other.
"This won't do. I can't keep creating shockwaves like that. It takes too much power just to match that guy's soundwave. Seems like I need to use that and finish this quickly."
Dewi decides to use a secret skill she has never shown before. A skill that makes her confident she can defeat the boss in a short time.
