81. Arrogant Yuri

In front of the hotel that's used to accommodate the Hunters in Russia, the S-Ranks and National Level Hunters are gathering around Thomas and Yuri Orloff.

They are getting ready to watch the show. Thomas has asked Yuri to show his Barrier Magic so it can be tested.

Of course, Thomas won't say it nicely. He provoked Yuri by saying that they can't trust a barrier made by a 'mere' S-Rank as it might break instantly when the monsters pour out of the dungeon.

Yuri gets provoked easily because of his arrogance and overconfidence of his barrier. Though he also sets up a condition. He needs to use a lot of magic crystals to supply his barrier's energy.

His barrier magic will get stronger by absorbing the magic power from its surroundings. That's why he is very confident that when the S-Rank Gaye breaks, his barrier will become very powerful from the magic power that pours out of the Gate.

It just makes Thomas look down on his barrier even more because Indra's barrier never needs to borrow energy from outside. His barrier's power is purely from his magic power.

Still, Thomas doesn't want Yuri to make any excuses later, so he allows Yuri to use as much magic power as he wants.

The Russian Government has prepared tons of magic crystals because they know how Yuri's Barrier Magic works.

So they allow him to use a lot of them to demonstrate his Barrier Magic's power. After all, they know they can't provoke the National Level Hunters who seem to doubt Yuri's barrier.

It's also a good chance for them to see if Yuri's barrier will be strong enough to hold off the S-Rank monsters because the National Level Hunters surely will know if it's strong enough or not with their experience clearing an S-Rank Gate.

Yuri sets up the barrier after dumping tons of Magic Crystals around him. He doesn't make it too big. It's diameter is just 3 meters, but it's big enough as a punching target.

Of course, a smaller barrier will use less magic power to make. But he uses his full power and the small barrier even absorbs the magic power from the magic crystals around it, making it much sturdier.

"Is it ready now?"

"You can go anytime."

Both of them are confident in their own power, so they smirk arrogantly. Other Hunters think both of them are just the same. But they are anticipating the result of this quarrel.

Thomas stands in front of the barrier and powers up his body with his magic power. Then he sends a very powerful punch that creates a very powerful shockwave.

Everyone can feel the vibration from the punch. The ground where Thomas stands even dents and cracks. Even the glass windows on the surrounding buildings are shattered because of the impact.

Thomas and the National Level Hunters are surprised to see the barrier is fine. It really is a good barrier as it can withstand Thomas's punch without any damage.

But Yuri doesn't seem happy as his smug smile has disappeared. His barrier withstands Thomas's punch, but he can feel the barrier's durability is being reduced a lot.

Luckily, no one realizes that, so he quickly repairs the damage by making his barrier absorb the magic power from its surroundings.

"Hmm, not bad. But I'm not done yet. S-Rank monsters' attacks are stronger than that, especially if it's the boss."

Thomas releases more magic power as he wants to transform into his Spiritual Manifestation form. But then someone stops him.

"Wait, Thomas!"

Dewi walks forward and stops Thomas from transforming.

"What is it? Do you want me to stop? We need to test the barrier with full power."

"I know. But let me do it instead. I know my brother's barrier's power more than anyone here. So I think I am the most qualified to compare them and see if this barrier is sturdy enough."

Thomas can see that Dewi won't take No for an answer. He can see how pissed she is because someone thinks his barrier is as good as Indra's barrier.

Yuri flinches a little when Dewi says that. But he still says that his barrier doesn't get weakened at all which pisses Thomas a bit because it's the same as saying Thomas's punch didn't do shit on his barrier.

Dewi doesn't say anything more and just gets ready to punch. The National Level Hunters are surprised that Dewi doesn't transform into her Moon Rabbit form.

"Is she planning to attack it without transforming even after seeing Thomas failed?"

"But she looks confident."

"She must have her reason. She's the most pissed here because someone thinks to be on the same level as her brother, after all."

"Well, let's just see. This will be interesting, after all."

Dewi's body glows white and her eyes even shine white like a lamp. She lowers her stance and then sends a powerful punch. Everyone can see that her technique is very different from Thomas.

It's much more refined and she even spins her whole body from feet to shoulder to strengthen her punch. Her form is also very solid and her move is very fluid. This really shows that she is a very skilled Martial Artist.

*BAM*

Her punch that looks just like a flash of white light hits the barrier. It doesn't create as big of an impact as Thomas's punch. But everyone is shocked by the result.

Yuri's whole barrier is cracking with Dewi's punch as the source. Then it shatters into pieces and disappears under everyone's shocked faces.

"Thomas only has power, but his technique is shit, that's why he couldn't break it. Your barrier is strong, but if monsters that are as strong as us and even have powerful skills come out of that Gate, then your barrier won't hold. I know your barrier almost cracked when Thomas hit it. Do you think I won't notice? I've seen and attacked my brother's barrier numerous times, so I can confidently say I'm the best at analyzing barrier magic among everyone here. If Thomas transforms, then your barrier will break easily. But that won't show you the true power of your barrier because you would think that it only breaks because Thomas, the rank 1 hunter was going all out and the monsters will also need that much power to break it which is unlikely because the hunters inside will attack them before they can go all out. But as you can see, I don't even need to transform to break your barrier. So for the raid day, I advise you to use even more magic crystals than planned, and I hope you won't absorb the Hunters' magic power because if you do it, then I will break your barrier and then break your skull even if it's a coincidence."

Dewi gives a long talk to the stunned Yuri before leaving the scene with the National Level Hunters who seem very satisfied with the result.

But they are also surprised to see Dewi manage to break something that Thomas can't break. After all, they all know Thomas has the most raw power among them and only Il Hwan can match that.

With this, they hope that Yuri will be more serious in the raid. Aside from crushing his arrogance, they also want him to know how dangerous the monsters will be.

Then, a week after both S-Rank Gates appeared, they finally started to crack. The Hunters on both Gates are nervously waiting for the monsters to come out. The double S-Rank dungeon raids will finally start.
