The Answer

Jimin and Taehyung's eyes widened hearing Jungkook say that.

"Jungkookie, did you uh hear everything?" Taehyung asked embarrassed.

"Pretty much yeah." Jungkook said setting down the food bags.

"Um, I think you guys should talk. So I'll go Tae! Bye Jungkook!" Jimin said leaving the other two alone.

"Jungkookie why did you say you will do it? If you heard everything, you know that me and this person would be bound together for life." Taehyung said trying to clarify things.

"Yes I heard that part." Jungkook said taking the food from the bags.

"Are you sure you understand because it's a big commitment and we haven't know each other very long. We had this one date but this would be for life, faries only bond with one person." Taehyung explained.

"I understand." Jungkook said bring Taehyung's food to him.

"Why would you want to do it? I didn't think you liked me in that way." Taehyung admitted.

Jungkook sat on the Taehyung's bed as well, and thought on how to explain.

"Look, I don't know how to like or love someone. I have never experienced such emotions before and you were right, my instincts are to run away. I don't know if I should do this, but I know I want to. Even if I am a little confused about most things, Jimin helped me realize that I do care about you. I don't know if it's because I have feelings for you, but it's something I can't explain. Everything is so new to me, and I am still figuring it out." Jungkook said with his head down.

"I understand you are confused Jungkookie but since you are not sure maybe it's not a good idea to try and commit to something like this. You could change your mind later and I admit I don't think I could handle being hurt like that." Taehyung said sadly.

"I would never want to hurt you Tae! I can't promise that I will always do things right, but I don't know why....I don't want you to be with someone else. I don't want you to affection with someone else." Jungkook said shyly.

"You would be jealous if I was with someone else?" Taehyung asked sheepishly.

"I don't know how to describe the feeling but I suppose it is jealousy or like a want to protect you, I am not sure. Like I said I have never felt anything like it before. Look Taehyung I never want to hurt you, and I understand if you don't trust me for this." Jungkook replied.

"What? No of course I trust you Jungkookie, you have never lied to me! I just don't want you to throw away your whole life and commit to something this huge!" Taehyung said with his head down.

Jungkook looked over at him and before thinking he reached over and took Taehyung's hand. Taehyung froze and looked up at Jungkook with a pouty face.

"Tae for some reason we get along really well, which surprised me. When we first started talking I was sure you would drive me crazy, but you don't. I am not bothered by anything you do, and I actually feel calm around you. I used to have a bad temper but not with you, with you I don't feel angry. I have always felt on edge, and I didn't realize it at first but being around you is the calmest I have ever felt." Jungkook said.

"It's a fairy thing." Taehyung replied.

"Are you sure? Because I'm pretty sure I have the urge to punch Jimin at least once a day." Jungkook scoffed.

Taehyung started laughing.

"Jungkookie, what?!" He said laughing harder.

"It's true! That little guy drives me crazy sometimes, I don't know how Yoongi hyung puts up with him." Jungkook sad smirking at the sound of Taehyung's laugh.

"I didn't know that, you don't show it." Taehyung said.

"Well because you are usually there, and like I said I feel calm around you." Jungkook said.

Taehyung doesn't know how Jungkook just says things like this without getting shy or embarrassed. Jungkook can just say and do things and it doesn't seem to make him shy at all. He was confident and unfiltered, which is what Taehyung liked about him. Jungkook just says exactly what he thinks, which can make him a little socially awkward, but it means he doesn't lie.

Taehyung feels like he can always trust Jungkook because he always says the truth. So he knows everything Jungkook is saying to him now is true, but it keeps him from accepting his answer still. He wants Jungkook to understand that this was for forever, that he can't run away. That Taehyung will one day be on the council and Jungkook would be looked at and judged by people. He will be in the spotlight and criticized and talked about.

"Jungkookie, I like you. I have since we first met, I can't explain why but I kind of just did almost right away. So I would be so happy to be bonded with you, but there is more to it then just us being together." Taehyung added.

"What do you mean?" Jungkook asked.

"My mom is on the council, and I will replace her after she steps down. So the person I bond with will be in the public eye. Everyone will want to know about them and may even judge them and not agree with the choice. You are a very private person, and I don't know if that is something you would be comfortable with." Taehyung said looking down again.

Jungkook had still not let go of his hand, but he didn't say anything for a few moments. Taehyung looked up slightly to see if maybe Jungkook looked angry or annoyed at all. He didn't but he had his concentration face on. Taehyung watched him as he thought about what Taehyung said.

"Will I have to give speeches?" Jungkook asked meeting Taehyung's eyes.

"What? Uh no, I would be the one who make the speeches. You wouldn't have to do anything, just be there with me." Taehyung answered.

"Ok. I don't like making speeches." Jungkook added.

Taehyung laughed a little, seriously too cute.

"So you really want to got through with this?" Taehyung asked again.

"Yes!" Jungkook said interlocking their fingers like they had the night before.

Taehyung blushed and smiled, and Jungkook just watched with a soft smile on his face.

"But about the other candidates...." Jungkook started but paused.

"I am not sure who they are, honestly I am not sure how the process works on making the final decision." Taehyung admitted.

"Can't you just tell them you already pick me?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung was a little surprised again by how straight forward Jungkook is.

"Bold of you to think I pick you!" Taehyung teased.

Jungkook was a little surprised and his face got a little sad and pouty. Taehyung had never seen that face on him before and cooed immediately.

"Aw Jungkookie don't pout I was just kidding!!!" Taehyung said moving closer to Jungkook and cupping his cheeks. "I was kidding ok, don't be sad!"

"Why are you squishing my face?" Jungkook asked the best he could with his face being squished together.

"Because you look really cute when you pout!" Taehyung said not letting go.

"I don't pout." Jungkook huffed.

"Yes you do! Actually you do it a lot, but I never said anything. It's really cute!" Taehyung could finally admit.

Jungkook squirmed in Taehyung's hold trying to get away, but Taehyung just moved closer squishing his face even more. So Jungkook let out a defeated sigh and gave up. Taehyung giggled and let him go but didn't move away.

"I'm not sure how the bonding process works, but let me talk to my mom. Because if you want me, I don't want to consider anyone else." Taehyung said shyly.

"Good, cause I don't want other people thinking they have a chance with you." Jungkook replied in his usual unfiltered way.

Taehyung just giggled at that. He knows Jungkook doesn't always think what he says has such a stronger meaning, especially to Taehyung. It makes it hard for Taehyung not to blush at his words sometimes. He knows that maybe Jungkook doesn't mean it in a romantic way, but the words were enough to make him think Jungkook did care about him.

"How about I send my mom a message now, ok?" Taehyung asked.

Jungkook turned to look over his shoulder where Taehyung had rested his head, and nodded.

"Ok! Here we go!" Taehyung said taking out his phone.

He was so nervous. This was a big deal and he knew it, but he also felt excited to tell his mom about Jungkook. As confused and awkward was, Taehyung really liked him and wanted to be with him. Jungkook watched at Taehyung typed the message and sent it.

"That's all you're telling her? I would have thought you would tell her more things about me." Jungkook complained.

"I didn't want the message to be too long, besides I can tell her all about you later! Can we just eat now I'm starving!" Taehyung said whining.

"Fine, but you better tell her good things about me." Jungkook snapped.

"I'll be sure not to say a word about your snoring I promise." Taehyung said taking a bit of his food.

Jungkook's head turned super quick to give Taehyung a pointed look that Taehyung pretended not to see.

"I do not snore!....Do I snore???!!!" Jungkook asked loudly.

Taehyung let out a laugh covering his mouth.

"I'm kidding Jungkookie!! You don't snore, you sleep like an angel!" Taehyung said still giggling.

Jungkook huffed and turned his whole body so that his back faced Taehyung.

"Aw is this out first fight Jungkookie?" Taehyung teased poking Jungkook in the side making him squirm.

Jungkook let out a squeel, which was a sound Taehyung had never heard from him before.

"Oh my gosh, your ticklish Jungkookie?" Taehyung said laughing again. "That's so cute."

"I am not cute ok! I am manly and strong, not cute." Jungkook said confidently.

Taehyung just kept laughing and earned an annoyed look from Jungkook who stood and walked over to his own bed.

"I think I will have to reconsider doing this after all..." Jungkook chimed in.

Taehyung stopped laughing and turned around to look at Jungkook with a sad face.

Jungkook looked up at him and smirked.

"Just kidding." Jungkook said.

"Uh!!! Are you serious?! I hate you!" Taehyung said pouting." You scared me!"

Jungkook laughed a little, which was a rare sound as well. Before Taehyung could scold him for being mean he heard his phone go off. Taehyung took it out and saw a reply from his mom.

Mom: I am so happy you have picked someone Taehyung! Please send me some information about them so I can learn more.

(End of message)

Taehyung hesitated. He wasn't sure how his mother would feel about Jungkook as an option, or that he wanted Jungkook to be the only choice. Taehyung wasn't sure how his mom would react to him brushing off the candidates his mom had picked for him. He paused and thought about his reply carefully.

(Text Message)

Taehyung: his name is Jeon Jungkook, 18 and he is a... an Amarok

Mom: an Amarok? Taehyung are you sure about this? They are not like others, I don't want you to get hurt.

Taehyung: I know mom, he won't hurt me. And the other thing....do I really need to consider other candidates? I mean I think I like Jungkook a lot actually, I don't think I would want to meet anyone else.

Mom: son, I understand if you like him but will be a good match for you? Do you like him enough to be bonded to him for life? It's a serious thing and if he changes his mind you will not be able to bond with anyone else.

Taehyung: I'm sure Mom, and he wants to do it.

Mom: if you know for sure that this is what you want to do, I suppose there is no need to meet with the other candidates. However, we still need to meet him. The council will need to be notified as well and there needs to be a briefing as well to explain his role with you being on the council.

Taehyung: mom, mom! Just send me the information and I will see when he is free to meet with you guys, ok?

Mom: yes, ok! Sorry. I am happy for you Taehyung and I can't wait to meet him! Please just remember what I said, and if anything changes let me know.

Taehyung: ok mom I will. Talk to you soon!

Taehyung set his phone down and went back to eating. Thinking about what his mom had said, and even though Jungkook seemed determined he still felt doubt. There were still a couple of weeks before the ceremony, that gave them some time to be sure.

"Jungkook, I let my mom know and she seems ok with me not meeting the other candidates." Taehyung said cutting the silence.

Jungkook tore his attention away from his phone.

"But now she wants to meet you....so...." Taehyung was trying to think of the best way to ask Jungkook to meet his parents.

"You want to know what day I'm free to meet your parents?" Jungkook asked trying to guess what Taehyung was trying to say.

"Yeah...." Taehyung said sighing.

"Uh, I'm free Wednesday evening." Jungkook said returning his attention back to his phone.

"Also...I was wondering....if maybe you might want to maybe go to dinner together one day." Taehyung asked.

"We always eat dinner together Tae. " Jungkook said still scrolling on his phone.

"No I mean as in a date." Taehyung added holding a breathe for a second. "It's just that my ceremony is in a couple of weeks, and I thought maybe we should go on a few dates to see if are compatible. You know as more than just roommates or friends."

Taehyung waited nervously for Jungkook to respond.

"So you want to date me, is that what you are asking Tae?" Jungkook ask teasing.

Taehyung just groaned embarrassed and threw a pillow at Jungkook's face.

"Shut up!" He replied. "Let's just hurry, we have to be at your house soon for dinner with your mom!"

"Wow, I guess we are serious if we are meeting the parents already." Jungkook said.

"Seriously what has gotten into you?! Stop teasing me!" Taehyung said annoyed.

After an hour of Taehyung asking Jungkook what outfit looked the best, they finally were waiting at the bus station on their way to Jungkook's family home.
