Chapter 35: Finding the Cat

Selene received a quick reply from Rowan.

His reply was particularly rigorous.

[Neighbor: This is the Dan Gui, as far as I know a lot of parks in Morning Glory City have planted them, Gui Xiang Park, Ming Jing Park and also Green Plaza, and even some are planted inside the Temple of Good Fortune.]

[Selene: Thanks! It's a big help!]

Selene opened the map and searched for the exact locations of these spots and managed to pinpoint the target.

Spiegel Park, located in the north of Spiegel District, was eighteen kilometers away from their neighborhood in a straight line.

After determining the location, Selene decisively threw her cell phone into her backpack, ran out of the underground garage, and darted all the way towards the direction where Spiegel Park was located.

Luckily, Linda's boyfriend's heart wasn't hard to the end, he just threw the cat to the park, not to the side of the road.

Hopefully nothing will happen to the two little ones.

Selene ran almost at full speed, taking shortcuts the whole time, and arrived at the gate of Spiegel Park in only half an hour.

Just as Rowan said, this park has a lot of osmanthus trees planted, even around the parking lot, and when the wind blows, the osmanthus blossoms float down as if it's raining flowers.

The park is closed, but that for people, like kittens can just come and go as they please.

Selene skillfully squeezed through the railing.

Spiegel Park was huge and smelled so complicated that it was kinda hard to find the two cats, but she was a cat and she could call them by name.

"Bella-" "Oliver-"

Selene called the names of the two little ones as she walked.

After ten minutes of walking, she finally got a response.

"Orange! We're here!"

It came from a bush not far away.

Selene rushed over and dove inside the bush, only to find that there was only one cat inside.

"Oliver, why are you the only one? Where did Bella go?"

The blue cat sighed and looked up at the sky, saying helplessly, "He's up there."

Selene followed suit and looked up, noticing that the ragdoll cat was lying on a branch of the tree, not daring to move, his fur exploding all over his body like a large marshmallow.

Selene: "... How did it get up there."

Oliver didn't hold back his laughter plopping down on the ground, "Climbed up, a mouse just passed by and it got scared and scurried up the tree."

Bella was devastated and yelled, "That's enough out of you! Do something to get me down."

Selene, also expressing shock at this development, looked up and pivoted, "You climb down the tree."

Bella hugs the branch tighter, "Oooooo... I don't dare."

Selene: "..."

She didn't understand, going up was daring! Why wouldn't you dare to come down!

"Then why don't you just jump down?"

Selene looked at Bella's position which was about two meters from the ground, and the lawn was still below, so if she was jumping down, it shouldn't be much of a problem for the cat.

"Oooooo... I'm afraid of heights." Bella also felt self-conscious about losing her cat face and buried her head lower and lower.

There was nothing Selene could do but take the bag off her back and try to climb the tree herself.

Bella screamed at the top of her lungs again, "Help-"

All at once she took off in place and jumped down towards the tree, flipping over in the air to land smoothly.

Selene saw that Bella had landed before she chuckled, "That's not okay, scaring yourself."

"That's right, cowardly Bella, you usually talk about how smart you are." Oliver, who had witnessed the whole thing, was straight up amused.

Just as Selene was about to jump in, she suddenly heard a loud 'buzzing' sound, like the prelude to a fighter jet bombing.

No way! ...

Selene immediately looked toward the direction of the sound, and saw a large hornet's nest among the leaves, in which several hornets had already sprung up and were flying toward her.

Just now, after Bella jumped down, the branch shook violently and caused too much commotion, startling the wasps in the hornet's nest, which should have taken her as an intruder.

Seeing that the wasps had rushed to her face, Selene hastily raised her claws to swat one away and jumped down from the tree.

"There's a wasp! Run with me!" Selene fished out the small satchel on the ground and instantly turned her body around and ran in the direction of the park exit.

Bella was still paralyzed on the ground, but as soon as she saw the huge wasp above her head she immediately bounced up from the ground and hurriedly ran after Selene.

Oliver, who was still crouching on the sidelines watching the fun, was instantly confused.

"Ah, you guys wait for me!"

The blue cat dragged its fat body and ran at the end.

The wasps had originally aimed their attack at Selene, but Selene was running too fast for them to catch up, so they turned their bodies around and prepared to go and teach that last intruder a lesson.

Selene turned her head and realized that the wasps had all gone to round up the blue cat, and she immediately stopped her pace and reversed her direction and dashed back.

Luckily, cats have pretty good dynamic vision, and Selene limits dodged a wasp's attack and swatted it to the ground.

After swatting away two more with her tail, Selene nudged the blue cat, who was shivering on the ground, "Get up, I'll get their attention, you guys wait for me over by that tree up ahead."

Oliver got up with a roll and immediately ran towards the front.

Selene, on the other hand, ran in the other direction and jumped into the bushes.

The hornets soon lost their target in the bushes and leisurely flew back toward the hornet's nest.

Selene poked her head out of one of the bushes when she couldn't hear the wasps anymore, and she shook her head to shake off the leaves that had fallen on her head before she limped out of the bush.

It didn't even take the moonlight for Selene to see that her left paw was swollen and that a hornet's stinger remained in the center of her cat's paw.

She had been accidentally stung when she swatted away a wasp earlier.

Bella and Oliver immediately gathered around.

"Orange! Are you alright?"

"Ah, your paw paw is so swollen, what should we do!"

"It's okay, let's go." Selene shook her head.

It should be that animals have much lower perception of pain than humans. She also just felt her paw paw numb and itchy right now, not so much pain. She shouldn't be able to run, but she could still walk back.

Selene confirmed the direction she was in, and led the two cats in the direction of her neighborhood.

One hour later.

Selene finally saw the gate of Snowdrop Elegant Court, and she excitedly turned her head, only to realize that the two little ones behind her didn't realize that they were almost home, and were still chatting idly.

Oliver: "I'm so hungry, I suddenly regret not catching that mouse."

Bella: "First of all you couldn't catch it, and secondly how do you eat that disgusting thing."

Oliver: "Also, I miss my freeze-dried, my can-can, my cat food, no more picky eaters, I'm going to eat well."

Pretty good, at least the trip didn't psych them out.

Selene turned around and instructed seriously, "You two head inside that house, and when the people inside see you they should call out for your owner to come get you."

"What about you Orange?" Bella asked in confusion, "How will your master pick you up if you don't come with us?"

"You won't have to worry if I do! Go on, we'll play together some other time!"

Selene watched the two little ones enter the security room before sneaking along the wall and slipping inside the neighborhood.

Still going back the same way, she tumbled in through the first floor window of the security access of Building A, and then climbed back up the stairs to the nineteenth floor.

The door to her house had been left open when she left, just flimsy.

Selene made it home without incident, which was a relief, and collapsed onto the couch.

Too tired to really have any energy left now.

And honorably wounded.

Selene lifted her left paw, realizing that at first it was just a swollen circle, and after all her fussing, it was swollen like a bun.

It was quite painful, and she felt that she had to go to the vet to have it looked at.

But how to go to the hospital?

［Hello, are you home?]

Rowan was concentrating on his project when he heard a cat call.

He then looked at his cell phone and remembered that he had changed Selene's message tone to a cat's purr.

Rowan froze.

Selene then felt a darkening before her eyes, and then looked back to find herself in Rowan's arms.

And as both a comfort and an admonition, he gently touched her head with one palm and said, "Don't move, we're going to the hospital now."
