“I slept the whole way?”
“You did. Very cute snoring from you as well.” Michael’s eyes twinkled as he drew back. “Come on in. Aiden’s collected the keys already, so we can go in.”
“How did he get the keys?” Philip sat up with a yawn. “I was told I would need to be the one to pick them up.”
Michael chuckled.
“Aiden’s very persuasive. We managed. Are you coming inside or do you want to freeze?”
It was certainly chillier than before. Philip managed to get out of the car without his legs buckling, but they threatened to. He had been stuck in the same position for four hours, and his body felt so stiff. He stretched his arms up, rising up on his tiptoes. God, that hurt.
“I can’t believe I was asleep the whole way.”
“After working a night shift, I’m not surprised.” Aiden said. He had opened the boot and was starting to bring out the bags. “Just get inside. I’ll be the delegated bag-carrier.”
