Chapter 29: Call to Duty

A catastrophe...

That was the only way to describe the current state of Jennys office. There were papers thrown around the room, boxes piled up in the corners and the heavy scent of coffee filled the air.

Ark scanned the room with his eyes to eventually find the owner of this room sat in her desk chair in a disheveled state. Her hair that only an hour ago had a shiny luster, was now unkempt. Jenny's blue officer outfit had it's top buttons undone revealing the fruits being stored inside the clothing. The glistening white skin peaking through the gaps of her clothing had a tinge of red to them.

Seeing this stimulating sight, Ark gulped and could not remove his eyes no matter how hard he tried.

After a few minutes of silent staring, his fantasies were interrupted by Jenny addressing him.

"Ah Ark... Sorry for the mess, ever since I have come back, it has been one huge dilemma after another"

Ark smiled at Jenny as he struggled to remove his eyes from her peaks.

"No I should say thanks for the treat, what's going on though?"

Jenny tilted her head slightly at Arks words before following the direction of his eyes. Realising the subject of his stare, she cleared her throat in an exaggerated way before sorting out her clothes. Seeing the door to wonderland being closed before his eyes, a look of longing flashed past Arks eyes before he straightened out and resumed a serious expression.

"So, what's happening? You seem really stressed."

Jenny thought for a moment before deciding to speak to Ark. She had already declared to Ark at the Medical office for him to act friendly with her, so she decided to vent her frustrations about her current predicament.

"It's just too much. It seems that odd cases of rampaging Pokemon have been happening all over Kanto for no reason, so we are really spread thin"

Ark was astonished...

This was not an event that happened in the Pokemon anime, so he had no knowledge about what the cause could be.

"So you don't know the cause?"

Jenny shook her head with a worn out expression.

"No idea, I am about to head up to a lake near here. Apparently there is a Seaking that keeps destroying boats and the trainers around can't subdue it"

Ark thought for a moment, this event was a godsend for him right now. If he played his cards right, he could get the thing he needs most right now.

"Officer Jenny! I would like to offer my services!"

Officer Jenny was taken aback by his proclamation. Extra help right now would be a extremely helpful since she will not have to take as many Officers away from Pewter City if she took Ark.

"Haven't you only just woke up? Not only that you were injured earlier"

Ark smiled at her considerations despite the tough situation she was in.

"I am fine, Sylph and I are ready to take a new step and this is just the kind of kick we need"

Hearing his resolve, Jenny nodded her head.

"Alright, if you're ready we can leave tomorrow so you can get some good rest"

Thinking for a moment, Ark realised that he had a few things to set in order today. He was in Pewter City so he needed to take advantage of this and stock up on supplies. Seeing as he got a recent income, he decided that he would spend it on food and maybe a few other necessities.

Ark left the Police station to take a stroll around Pewter City. The city had a completely different vibe to that of Viridian City. It had a more robust feel to it, as though it could stand tall against the test of time much like the various mountains residing in the Kanto region. As he looked around, he saw that there were numerous shops that sold local delicacies or souvenirs. Although it was an obvious idea considering it was a gym city, it made Ark once again realise that the Anime did not show him everything this world had to offer.

"Sylph, we'll go get our shopping before we take a look around"

Sylph, who was holding Arks hand and walking alongside him, nodded her head to his plan. Although she would not object in most cases, Ark decided that if he wanted to start being stricter, he needed to start telling her his plans so she understands his goals.

The two continued to walk down what looked like a main street. There were countless amounts of people going in and out of shops with bags accompanied by their Pokemon. It was Arks first time seeing so many different types of Pokemon in one place. Most of the Pokemon were rock or ground types, however there was also a mixture of bug and fighting type Pokemon within them.

It seemed that the majority of people in town had types retaining to these three. It made sense since they were most accessible in this area. Ark and Sylph eventually approached what seemed to be a generic convenience store. It had sales deals posted in the windows and many people walking in and out.

Judging that this may be the best place to shop currently, Ark and Sylph entered the shop while he mentally created a shopping list mainly consisting of Pokemon and human food. It was true that he could use a few more Pokeballs, however his food situation was more important for his journey.

After roughly an hour, the two had finished their shopping. The £1000 had actually been extremely useful, they managed to get 2 months worth of both human and Pokemon food alongside another Pokeball. This means Ark now had two balls to use to catch his team. As he had not actually caught anything yet, he did not know whether Pokeballs were reusable or whether they were unusable after a failed capture.

"Right now that's sorted, let's head back to the Pokemon Center for some rest"

Ark and Sylph head to find the Pokemon Center. They had been attacked yesterday and were still in quite an exhausted state, thus they decided it would be best for the two of them to rest since they'll be traveling tomorrow.
