This, it turned out, was part of the ‘casual’ service, which at times extended to a brusqueness that stopped just short of rudeness on the part of the wait staff. Both the beef and seafood entrees were well prepared, and the portions were more than generous.
An hour or so later, we were walking around the Faneuil Hall area, complaining in a good-natured way about how much we’d eaten. Over dinner we tried to persuade the Lanes to come with us on our excursion to Cape Cod, but they declined on the grounds that four would be a crowd for this, our first trip there together.
