Chapter-139

He rolled out of the prison. The thunder stopped but the skies were still dark as if they were ready to mourn for her.

"She... is..."His lips were dead. He kneeled before the gate of the prison and screamed.

"Ashok... " A distressed voice echoed behind him. He was feeble for any response. His entire body was numb.

"What happened??" Another sound forced him to raise his head. Dhruva looked at him in angst.

"Ashok... Crowned prince and general Dhruva is here to rescue commander back." Deva spoke in a monotonous tone.

" Let me meet her." He tried to get up but the guilt and remorse were too much for his shoulders.

He couldn't face his prince nor a word was uttered from him. All he could do was cry. He cried his heart out. They panicked at his conduct.

"What happened??"

He bowed striking his head on the floor and extended his hands; stained with her blood.

He groaned; "I... failed... her."

"What?? " Dhruva grabbed his hands tightly, their eyes were red.

"Repeat it.. if you dare?"

"Lord... she is waiting for you..." He pointed towards the huge gates of the jail. Dhruva galloped in but Jiva walked slowly. Each step was slower and heavier. They both disappeared into the murk of prison.

A scream expired and penetrated through the strong walls of the prison. It was his cry. Jiva walked out of the prison holding her in his arms. She was pale. Her hands were down. Jiva cuddled her, his eyes were dead, lips pale but his hands didn't tremble. She was safe in his hands; finally. He slowly walked with her. All the army stood still. A huge wave of disbelief swept through their heart. Once the mighty commander of Hirangan forces is now cuddled with scars. He rested her in his cart and walked back. His steps were fast and his eyes were furious. He held her last words tightly and said,

"This is her last word, they all kneeled: This is my decision. I am sorry. I hope for no war or death for me. It's not worth. Spare them."

Ashok returned the token to Jiva. Jiva raised both his token and ordered, "All the Hiranga in Amai, listen to my orders. There won't be a war or death but tonight, Amai should witness the curse. The whole kingdom should be on fire. Show them what they deserve."

Dhruva lighted the fire and the start of their wrath was marked by the destruction of the prison. It was set on fire. Huge fumes filled the dark sky.
