Bin Brothers

The battle plan for the 11th Ward was being executed with precision. The CCG headquarters, in collaboration with the police, had mobilized forces from various locations to evacuate the residents and seal off the entire area.

Over five thousand personnel, mostly investigators, were deployed for the operation. The CCG had already located the Aogiri Tree's stronghold in the 11th Ward, which was situated in a commercial district. After eliminating the human occupants, the Aogiri Tree had set up their base there.

Lin Yi glanced around, taking in the serious atmosphere. The soldiers, clad in bulletproof armor, had effectively cordoned off the commercial district in preparation for the upcoming battle. Amidst this tension, Lin Yi was the only one making light-hearted remarks.

"It seems like the Aogiri Tree organization is more formidable than we anticipated. Their defense is tight, and they show no signs of retreating," Yukinori Shinohara observed through binoculars, frowning.

The surroundings were filled with fully armed ghouls wearing masks and carrying firearms, clearly prepared for battle. It was evident that they had acquired a significant number of weapons and ammunition after destroying the 11th Ward branch.

"According to the plan, we'll hold the front line firepower while you act accordingly," Shinohara instructed, pausing for a moment before adding, "Stay safe."

"Don't worry, I've got this," Lin Yi casually waved his hand.

With a quick glance at the time, Shinohara suddenly raised his head and launched a signal flare into the night sky. The flare burst into a bright explosion, shattering the silence.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

In that instant, a barrage of gunfire erupted as both sides unleashed their firepower. The exchange created a visible storm of bullets, displaying its terrifying might.

"Lin..." Shinohara began to say something, but his voice trailed off. Lin Yi had already transformed into a blur, rushing through the barrage with incredible speed.

"He's always so impatient," Shinohara sighed.

However, possessing exceptional skills made a noticeable difference. The Aogiri Tree forces standing in their way were evidently well-trained. They occupied several floors of a tall building, equipped with ample firepower and kagune shields and scopes.

They were stronger than the CCG forces, who relied on advanced technology, and they effectively suppressed the CCG's advance, halting their progress.

Yet, buildings over ten meters tall proved to be no obstacle for Lin Yi. With a swift leap, he soared to a height of six to seven meters, activating the suitcase in his hand. Jörmungandr materialized, transforming into a sharp longsword that plunged into the wall.

Using it as a foothold, Lin Yi exerted force, rotating in mid-air as he unsheathed the sword. Propelled several meters higher, he swiftly charged into the third floor of the high-rise building.

The CCG forces outside, including Shinohara, were left dumbfounded.

"The speed of this kid's growth is truly astonishing," Shinohara exclaimed in amazement after a brief moment.

Gunfire continued to erupt throughout the entire third floor, but it had lost all sense of order. Amidst the cacophony of gunshots, faint screams could be heard. Lin Yi, facing a group of C and B-ranked ghouls, moved through them like a hungry wolf in a flock of sheep. Each swing of his sword claimed another life.

The Aogiri Tree's front line collapsed completely.

"Full assault!" Itsuki Marude, in charge of command, shouted excitedly over the radio.

The crowd roared in anger as they surged towards the entire commercial district.

"You've had your appetizer, don't get too greedy and forget the main course," Lin Yi muttered after exterminating all the ghouls on the third floor. Instead of pursuing further, he changed his course, diving deeper into the commercial district.

He understood that this battle wasn't a situation where Eto Yoshimura would give it his all. It was more like a test, a gamble.

A retreat would be announced soon.

Chaos reigned within the commercial district, and with Lin Yi deliberately avoiding confrontations with certain ghouls, no one could impede his progress.

"Surprisingly smooth," Lin Yi sighed, slapping his forehead. "But I seem to have a poor sense of direction."

"Hey, can I ask for directions? You two have been secretly following me for a while now," Lin Yi exclaimed, feeling a headache as he faced a dead end. Though there was no one around, it seemed like he was talking to himself.

"Whoosh!"

But as soon as he spoke, a sound of rushing air came from behind him.

Two deep blue kagune extended, crossing each other as they flew towards him like swords.

"Clang!"

Lin Yi swiftly swung his sword, blocking the attack. The metallic clash resounded through the corridor. Slowly turning around, he saw two individuals donned in purple cloaks and masks. One bore a red 'P' symbol on the mask, while the other had an 'X'.

The Bin Brothers, S-rank ghouls wanted by the CCG, and executive members of the Aogiri Tree.

"So, you finally found us?"

"This guy seems quite extraordinary. He managed to block our combination attack."

The brothers exchanged words.

"If he manages to break through, it could become troublesome."

"No problem, let's just kill him."

Lin Yi looked helpless.

"It's quite disrespectful to ignore me like this," he muttered, shaking his head. Although he had gained a considerable reputation within the CCG, he remained relatively unknown in the world of ghouls.

After all, his most notable achievement was severely injuring Rize Kamishiro, but few knew that he was the culprit. In other instances, the small fries he eliminated failed to attract much attention.

"It's disheartening."

While complaining to himself, the Bin Brothers launched their attack. Both possessed Bikaku-type kagune. One struck from the left, the other from the right. Their figures appeared like phantoms.

Simultaneously, their agile kagune acted as their third arms, coordinating their movements flawlessly.

"Bang! Bang!"

Lin Yi leaped backward, narrowly evading their attacks.

One of the Bin Brothers had already positioned himself behind Lin Yi, wearing a triumphant smile as he unleashed a roundhouse kick.

"Just die!"
