Trapped Fate

Usually, individuals find it difficult to change their fate unless a higher authority than themselves grants them this ability. In truth, they are only carrying out what was predestined to happen while doing everything they can to make a change in fate. "Opportunities like this are intended to be taken, but given that you are now a member of our organization, I wonder what you'll want to alter." *Scribble, Scribble* What he intended to change was written on a white sheet of paper. "I want to reverse the events that occurred when I was 17 years old, alter my destiny, and destroy this organization in the process." The organization hall became quiet as they started to make mockery of him for his stupid wish. "All right, anything you want, I'll do it. I hope you won't regret it." *Snap, Snap*

Sebastian was hanging from a branch, clinging to it for dear life while his pallid legs dangled below. He appeared to be defenseless and was still asleep. The emerald, thick vein he used to tie himself up appears to be protecting him from dying after falling a great distance. Sebastian opened his eyes as the trees around him began to move. His expression started to seem perplexed as to how he got into this situation. He didn't do anything but sit there and look, trying to come up with a plan to leave this area.

"Oh my Christ, why am I so moronic? I should have tied my waist as well, not only my legs. I suppose I could attempt ascending the vein; after all, the branch is rather nearby." While I pulled myself up the vein, it seemed rather easy to climb, luckily I could reach the branch after what seemed to be a few minutes. I was now beyond tired, but I knew I had to get down from the tree and make myself back to the wizard tower or whatever it was called.

*Rip*

Although my rucksack had fallen on the ground, I was without a sharp tool and found it difficult to rip the vein from my leg. My stomach started to complain as I felt hungry; it appeared I needed to get it before I became any more weakened. All of my resources were in the bag. When I noticed a golden hue on a tree limb that was rather near to me, I turned to scan the trees. "Is it a banana, I see? I haven't observed one in a while." Walking there was rather simple, but getting it out of the branch was more difficult. I found that eating it with my hands and pilling it up worked best. My stomach filled up very quickly; I hoped I could have saved some for later, but I lacked a bag to put it in.

I had to put my feet on cracks to prevent falling backward because the wood wasn't particularly soft, making getting off of it somewhat difficult. Before I knew it, the dirt was getting closer to me. It surprised me that nothing had broken or stolen from my backpack. My blanket had also fallen, so I picked it up, blew off any dust it may have had, and then I zipped it back inside my back. returning to my previous exploration of my surroundings as I made my way to the wizard tower. Everything was going according to plan until I came upon what appeared to be a stone tab. It had markings, but nothing I could make out and it didn't seem to be in a language I was familiar with.

More stones appeared all around as I drew near; it appeared to be a kind of construction block. I saw enormous abandoned old runes as I drew nearer. How could such a lovely location be left in shambles makes my eyes beam with wonder. There were crystals of rainbow all over the place. Rubbing my fingers over the tiles' old runes revealed a lovely pattern; they didn't feel harsh but rather smooth to the touch. Veins and moss were present on virtually all of the stone tiles, which had been completely overrun by nature. A strange-looking walkway that appeared to be appealing to me had an antique stone staircase inside, which I discovered when I entered.

Since I descended the stone stairs, which were rather brittle as parts of them were falling apart, there were chilling gusts all around me. Nearly every corner was covered with spider webs, and the more closely you peered at them, the more little eyes you could see staring back at you. I wanted to turn around, but because I was nearly completely down, it would be best if I didn't because I was rather terrified of spiders. Some of my steps may have hit some ancient traps since they seemed like pressure traps, but nothing fired at me. This rune appeared to be so ancient that the traps were no longer effective.

"Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, I reached the top of those terrible steps. Because of all the walking, I had to do to get to the bottom of the steps, I was becoming fairly out of breath." I was praying there wouldn't be any more or I would give up and go back. Prisons, with dead bodies inside of them, were all I had in store for me, though. I couldn't stand the smell of death, so why were there so many prisons on these runes?

"W.. Why do these runes have so many holding cells? I should quit investigating this site if they were not a decent set of individuals, but I feel like I should look around more. My inner self is being called by something."

"Explore us more Sebastian Torres."

I refrained from peering into the cells since they were packed with bones—both human and what appeared to be animal bones. They were so ancient that earth had found its way inside and they were beginning to resemble fossils. Children were also confined in these dreadful chambers, as I even observed several rather little skulls. As I made my way farther inside, the scent of death only seemed to be becoming worse. reaching what appeared to be a stone door with skulls scratched into it and other, obscure markings.

*Swoosh*

It was difficult to push the door open; it felt as though something was preventing me from doing so. A startling scene was shown when the door finally opened after what seemed like a long time. The middle of the room was lit by the sun, and it appeared that a glass centerpiece with what appeared to be an angle trying to grasp a star in its palm was letting light into the space. It unveiled a casket surrounded by lovely crystals and plants in a variety of vibrant hues. Everything about it appeared magnificent, and the death odor had been replaced by the floral scent. Because the space was so lovely, I was unaware until the door behind me slammed, shutting me within.

It was as though a voice calling to me from the casket came before it. It appeared as though I had no control over my body since it continued to go toward the now-glow-in-the-dark coffin despite all of my orders. That was coated in crystals that were now sparkling and shone in various hues. Even a small water circle couldn't stop me from getting to the coffin because rocks began to form beneath my exposed feet to prevent me from drowning. I was now in front of the coffin, which was holding a bracelet in the shape of a star rather than bones or a body. The coffin suddenly burst open as the branclet floated toward me and wrapped itself around my arm while shining a brilliant starlight.

*Branclet*

"It had been a long time since I had seen a person enter these runes; the others weren't worth exposing myself to. However, you didn't visit my rune out of any particular need; rather, you did it out of curiosity. Sincerely, I wasn't hoping to gift you my most expensive bracelet, but it was all I had. You will benefit more from it than I ever did, though. I was employed for my magical healing abilities, which no one else possessed, while I was imprisoned down here for thousands of years.

Due to the fact that I used the healing power of the stars on others, my abilities only functioned at night. I was shocked to learn that the only cost was for me to live for another year. I got to live longer and look beautiful for millions of years, which was initially a great price to pay for using very strong magic. However, that was a problem. Everyone I had ever loved was now deceased, yet I was unable to pass away since my healing abilities prevented any suicide attempts from being successful. I was considered immortal by everybody.

If only I could have departed the planet sooner, but the only way to do that was to give my powers away, which is what I did. I put all of my might into the bracelet you are wearing right now. I am aware that it is stupid of me to bestow my curse upon someone your age. You only fell and prayed for a depressed person's dreams. However, I'm confident that this will aid you on your journey; after all, who doesn't take pleasure in curing others? You have a good heart. But don't be deceived; my powers could do more than just heal; you'll have to figure out how to use them. I'll be leaving soon, so live peacefully, human."

It looked as though a bright star had suddenly appeared in front of me and was slowly going away, breaking the glass as it did so. It had arrived at its family's house at last. As my eyes closed and my body gave up on the coffin, tears streamed down my pure white face. My body was only capable of relaxation and sleep since I was exhausted and lacking vitality. The floor's veins formed a sort of warm blanket over my body, removing my garments as they wrapped themselves about me.
