Arc 2- Chapter 2

*Starfire's Pov*

We had been on the road for a while now, zombies couldn't even graze the jeep cause they were immediately taken down by the group.

'Ha~ I am getting bored~'

[Don't worry, you will soon get the distraction you need]

'Finally!'

And like little que said, in 15 minutes, more than a hundred zombies moved towards us.

'Little que, were they summoned by a high level zombie?'

[Yes host. It also happened in the normal story, which was one of the reasons they were slowed down]

'What level is the zombie?'

[Just a level 4 zombie]

'Well, let's get this party started then'

I giggled inwardly before getting out of the jeep to fight some zombies.

"Miss Fiona, Chief said to keep you safe. Please stay inside while we deal with this" One of the level 4 volunteer said while using his earth power to open the ground and swallow up the zombies.

"Can't you see there are too many zombies? Let me help, I don't want to be a useless burden" I said angrily as I faced him.

I grabbed a sword since I can't use a gun which will attract more zombies, and started slicing some zombie brains.

The volunteers tried to stop me but were too busy with the zombies.

"Roar!!!"

A zombie roar was heard as all the volunteers under level 4 fainted directly, the ones at level 4 clutched their head in pain while the ones at level 5 furrowed their brows in slight pain.

'If I am not mistaken, the level 4 zombie must have mind-controlling power for its scream to affect everyone'

[Yes host, you didn't feel any pain cause of my protection. That just shows that I am so awesome, aren't I?]

I ignored Little que's boasting as I used the present distraction to make my way away from the zombie crowd.

The zombies had gotten more ferocious after hearing the level 4 zombie's roar but thanks to the level 4 and 5 volunteers that were still stable, the group weren't defeated yet.

"They will be alright. After all, they survived in the normal storyline" I mumbled as I got out of the zombie crowd.

[Host... I thought you didn't care and said they will be alright?]

'Don't take it the wrong way, I just wanted to get some zombie nucleus to upgrade'

I am now in front of the 3 storey building where the level 4 zombie is.

[And it had to be the zombie that was summoning that crowd of zombies, just say you want to help them host]

Little que rolled his eyes as I just smiled while looking at the building.

To be honest, even if I know they will survive, some weak ones might die. Plus, I get to absorb the zombie nucleus though since it is a level 4 zombie, it won't be enough for leveling up. If I absorb some level 4 or one level 5 zombie nucleus, then I would be able to level up.

'Hey, give me information on this zombie'

[Well, since it is a mind powered zombie, it is physically weak but has a strong mind, which is why it can summon as much zombies as a level 5 can. You should be able to easily defeat it due to your level, after all, the higher the level you are, the faster and stronger you get]

I nodded and jumped directly to the roof of the 3 storey building.

The zombie was standing there while overlooking the zombie crowd. It didn't notice me since I had activated the invisible aura so as not to be slowed down by zombies.

The zombie was ugly with its abnormally big head and bloody body.

*Slice*

"Uh? That was too easy" I mumbled slightly confused looking at the now genuinely dead zombie.

[Like I said, mind powered zombies are weak and usually uses other zombies as protection]

'Ok, I get it. I just didn't expect it to be this weak'

I looked at the volunteers' area and found that the zombies looked confused since their was no body to control them. Even with that, they still attacked the volunteers but were more easy to deal with since other zombies didn't bother coming.

I dug into the level 4 zombie brain with my sword and took the nucleus.

"Well, this is a good harvest though" I  smiled happily as I cleaned and started absorbing it.

After some minutes, the nucleus was completely absorbed and I felt a little bit more powerful but haven't upgraded.

I sighed and faced the volunteers' area to realise that the zombies has all been dealt with and they were all looking for me.

"Oops! I guess that took a little more time than I expected"

[We need to leave this area before they find you, host]

'I know, I am working on that'

I jumped from building to building towards the direction where Kyle should be.

After an hour, I slowed down and entered an abandoned building.

"Good thing I packed some provision and weapons in this bag" I smiled as I took a snack from the backpack and ate.

'Hey, Little que. Didn't you say you could take a physical form?'

[I can. Do you want me to do it now?]

'Yes, I need some physical company~'

A little boy with black hair and gold eyes appeared in front of me.

[Do you like my appearance host?]

His voice sounded in my head even without opening his mouth.

"Oh, you can still talk to me in my head?"

"Yes host, I can. I am still connected to you even in this physical form" The little boy said staring at me.

"But why did you chose to be a little boy?"

"It is more excusable like this. You can say you picked me up since I looked so pitiful being alone without anyone to protect me from zombies. They will easily buy it and admire you" He said cutely as he came towards me.

"I guess so. You can still change into an adult, right?"

"Of course, host"

"Good. I hope you can still fight in this body cause you can't be a burden to me like the female lead, even if no one can be as annoying as her" I said with a playful smile even if my voice changed a little at the end.

"I can still fight. In fact, I already programmed this body to have level 6 air-power" He said sitting next to me.

I smiled while pinching his cheeks.

"You are so adorable now" I cooed ruffling his hair.

"Wasn't I always adorable?" He pouted swatting my hands away.

"Well, you technically didn't have a face, so..." I trailed off teasingly

"Ugh! You are annoying" He huffed before facing away

"Well, we should be getting to Kyle in two days at most. After him, we will look into that side mission of yours. Imagine, the side mission is even more hard than the main mission" I teased poking his cheeks

"Well, at least you will learn to work hard" He said while facing me with a serious gaze

"Don't I work hard normally?" I asked pretending to be hurt even though I still had a smile on my face

He tsked before facing away.

I smiled before drinking some water and checking the weapons.
