Chapter 1

Li Yue stole a glance at the man by the window, his silhouette framed against the soft glow of the city lights. Just moments ago, confusion and nervousness had enveloped her when the stern-faced man instructed her to sign the divorce papers. It dawned on her that this man, with his cold demeanor, was likely her husband.

"Li Yue, if there's anything you want to add, please tell me now," he stated, his voice cutting through the tense silence.

Keeping a calm facade, Li Yue began perusing the papers, realizing a peculiar gap in her knowledge—she didn't even know her husband's name. As she prepared to speak, the uncertainty gripped her. What if he wasn't her husband at all? With a measured tone, she placed the papers down and boldly stated, "10 million cash now."

Liu Ming, her supposed husband, furrowed his brows at the unexpected demand. Puzzled, he nodded and reached for his phone to summon his assistant.

Amidst the wait, a knock echoed, and Liu Ming looked at her expectantly after tapping on the table. A questioning gaze met his, prompting him to speak, "My assistant will bring the cash. Sign the papers and hand them over. I'm leaving."

Acknowledging that this encounter marked the end of their marital ties, Li Yue graciously nodded, a regal dismissal fitting for a queen. Liu Ming, accustomed to her confident demeanor, found an unusual pleasure in her comportment this time. Though he anticipated resistance after recent events, the meeting unfolded with an unexpected calmness. With a final glance, he departed.

Finally alone, Li Yue allowed her posture to relax, the constant scrutiny lifting. She closed her bedroom door, her thoughts racing. A shower, she decided, to wash away the scent of alcohol clinging to her. Two hours immersed in the luxurious bath, she emerged with renewed clarity.

In front of her wardrobe, draped in a bath towel, she examined dresses from renowned brands. The original owner's taste echoed in her choices. Opting for a simple sky-blue dress and minimal makeup, she murmured to herself, "Perfect for a divorce; neither too strong nor too pitiful."

A knock interrupted her reflections. Opening the door, she encountered an unfamiliar man with a bag.

"Madam, here is the cash. You can check," he said.

With a polite smile, Li Yue accepted the bag. The assistant, startled by her efficiency, left promptly, fearing further surprises.

Surveying the substantial amount of money, Li Yue marveled at the unexpected turn her life had taken. A ringing phone revealed her father's call. Answering with a hesitant

 "Dad,"

"Yue, Don't worry, I'll talk to Liu Ming. I already sent someone to find evidence. Your mother and I believe you. So don't be impulsive."

"Dad, I already signed the divorce paper."

Amoment of silence before her mother's voice, hurried and concerned, took over.

"Yue, Are you alright? Did someone force you? Wait for mommy, I'll send your dad to pick you up from there."

The abrupt end left Li Yue feeling a surge of emotions, remnants of the original owner's turmoil.

Panicking, she sent a message to her supposed family, claiming discomfort and announcing her departure to calm her emotions. Swiftly packing her belongings, including the bag of money and jewelry, Li Yue booked a flight out of the city, casting a last glance at the room before her departure.
