Vol. 1 Chapter 8 : Mission

Conrad continued to read aloud from the scroll concerning her first mission: "Introduce fire as a non-evil instrument for orc livelihood and protection; failure to do so would result in a ten-year reduction in life span; a prize will be issued for the level of task if achieved. progress zero percent"

"minus ten years of my life?! Well, what if I die while on a mission? Can I be compensated?!" Belle was at a loss for words, when she accepted the mission she didn't think that she could die considering they needed her to save this world

Conrad tucked the scroll into his sleeve and turned back to face the anxious Belle. "Relax, it's not even that risky; after all, this is only the first one; the more high-level missions you complete, the more you'll receive; think of it as one of your games."

Belle groaned as she crossed her arms across her chest. "Unlike those games, I don't actually die, and I have a ton of buffs and cheats too."

Then, out of nowhere, a thought came to her. "Hey~ Why don't you give me cheats so we can get this done faster?" while elbowing him, she remarked "It'll be simpler and quicker for you as well?"

Conrad gave her a corky grin as he glanced into her waiting eyes. "There is a way" Belle's eyes grew brighter. 'Superpowers?! oh how about super strength? no no how about speed? flight? invisibility or even telepathy?!'

Belle was so engrossed in her superhero fantasies that she didn't hear Conrad's ramblings. "Hey are you listening?" He patted her on the head as he circled over her.

"Yes you are so right?" She pretended to be listening to his explanations with a sheepish look. "What did I even talk about? hmm?"

With a teasing smile, he had one of his brows arched. 'Look at this sweetheart; his cheeks make me want to pinch them.' Her hands itched as she tried to keep herself back.

"Sorry I wasn't listening" Belle confessed "Thought so" While still in the air, Conrad straightened up. "What I meant was that having cheats like strength or the like isn't impossible, but the cost is too high."

"What do you mean by the cost is too high?" Belle cocked her head, perplexed. 'If can have superpowers that'd be so cool!' imagining herself flying and saving people and what not

"Because your body is that of a human, not an orc, you are physically weak; therefore, when you gain these abilities, they may cause serious physical and mental harm the first time they are injected into your body." He lowered his head slightly, staring to see if she was frightened by the potential threat, but she was more excited than he thought.

"Well what are we waiting for! When you can have power for the rest of your life, one day of misery is nothing. HAHA!" laughing like a mad man, when suddenly Conrad put his hands over her mouth "Wha-"

"Shhhh someone's approaching, we'll talk later" He vanished into thin air after saying that.

Outside, there were heavy footsteps, and a huge jaguar leaped to the entrance with a small bag in its mouth. Smooth rocks and dried leaves can be seen peeking from within.

He put down his luggage and turned into a handsome young man., it was Liam. Belle was still staring at him, and because she couldn't react quickly enough, she saw his baguette in full view once more.

When her face started to burn, she quickly covered it and screamed. "Put some clothes on!" Liam stared at her slowly and looked at his physique after hearing her outburst, finally realizing the little female was embarrassed he chuckled lightly and he took the cloth covering around the things he brought and wrapped it around his waist.

"You can look now" She carefully removed her hands from her face and fixed her gaze on him. "The next you transform at the very least give me a heads up or cover yourself immediately!" she reprimanded him

Liam only gave a small smile "Got it" He considered this female to be particularly sensitive, His race's females were more daring and didn't mind viewing each other's body, but this one always elicited a strong response, He felt compelled to tease her after seeing her embarrassed by his body.

"What do you need these for?" He took a piece of stick and ran his finger across it. "I'm working on something to eat" she couldn't say she was going to create fire to Liam just yet, She's still an outsider he met yesterday, and who knows what he'd do if he found out she was starting fire.
