Gleichber(3)

Calvin saw his classmates disappear in thin air and wanted to meet with his friends before he went to the other side.

It was a well known fact that going to another world wouldn't always teleport you next to those around you.

The magic technology allowed you to have the same equivalent place in the other worlds coordinate.

For example, if we assumed that our universe is 5 unit long and 5 unit wide and that someone was on the 1, 1 coordinate, he would be teleported to the other world's equivalent. So if we say that Gleichber is 10 long and 10 wide, that person would be in 2, 2.

Knowing this, Calvin wanted to try to stay as close to his friends as possible as to not lose their sight or even touch them to be teleported as one, but when he turned around, Leo was nowhere to be seen and Alphonse had just clicked on the Transfer button, making him go *poof*.

'Those idiots. It's basic knowledge that you have to wait for your team. Arrgh! Guess I'll try to find them when I get there.'

He then clicked the transfer button too and started his journey to the other world.

At first, he felt like his soul was being sucked off of his body, followed by a cold sensation enveloping his body.

Soon after, the cold feeling left him and he felt like he was back to being himself again.

'My head hurts a bit but I guess my parents made a big deal out of nothing in the end.'

His parents told him being transported was the worst feeling ever, but apart from the mild uneasiness, nothing was too unbearable.

Calvin had been transported to what looked like a big mountain reef. The many peaks that pointed toward the sky had their tip hidden by the clouds. Said reef looked to be filled with caves and underground tunnel, making it prone to exploration.

He scanned his surroundings, trying to spot another student, only to realise he was alone.

'They should've waited, since we don't know how big this place is. Anyway, this place isn't dangerous so it's not really a problem.'

Since this world had probably been explored alot by the previous students, Calvin didn't expect to find anything rare or precious. The only hope he had was that, since he didn't see any other students, this world was probably really big and so his chance of finding something had gone up a bit.

Calvin peeked at the peak, then saw one of the caves and chose to go to it. He felt fear from the height of the place, but he had been assured he couldn't die and so, he resumed himself to.

'We don't know untill we try!'

As he made his way to one of the opening in the mountains, Calvin had to pay attention to where he put his feet since the way up was filled with dangerous spiky rocks and piece of wood blocking the way.

When he was nearing the cave he was eyeing, he got his foot stuck on a weirdly shaped rock making him fall face first.

*Bam*

-"Aargh" he moaned.

The pain he felt was real.

He knew the dean wouldn't lie about them being unable to die in this world, but if he could feel the same pain as he would on Earth, he'd rather take all the precautions he could.

For the rest of his ascension, Calvin made sure to look around carefully before taking any big steps.

He safely reached the opening and took out his phone to see how much time he had remaining.

'12 hours ah? I think I have time for a quick nap, just to regain some energy.'

He was exhausted and wanted to take a small nap, so he looked around the cavern to see if anything weird resided in it and when he was sure of his safety, he lied down on the cold stone floor.

The dark cave that Calvin was in when he went to sleep was now fully illuminated, which woke him up.

Calvin opened his eyes and took in his surroundings before remembering where he was.

He looked at his phone to see his time and he still had 9 hours left.

'3 hours of sleep should be enough. But where the fuck is that shiny glow coming from?'

He had been asleep for three hours straight and hadn't met any trouble but he was startled by the light reflecting off the cavern's walls. He rubbed his eyelids to see clearer. Calvin then noticed that the bright light that shone on him came from a light brown, bronze-ish looking metal.

Calvin approached the wall to inspect the metal. Said material was embedded in the wall, in a way that made it impossible to remove without a pickaxe or some sort of power tool. He tried to scratch the wall with his hands, but to no avail.

After being exposed to the blinding light for over ten minutes, he decided to try to follow it's source. He delved farther into the cave and noticed some cracks looking like some roots along the cavern's walls. Calvin followed the roots, who were emitting the light, for a while and finally came in contact with a weird mushroom, who emitted the light.

It was quite big for a mushroom and had the light come of as pulsation from the dot covering it.

He glanced at it and realised that the roots he saw all along the cavern all converged to it.

Calvin kneeled next to the shroom and tried to pull it out, but unfortunately for him, the roots of the fungi were too strong and he only fell on his back after trying to remove it from the ground.

As usual, this little problem triggered him for no reason, making him see red. He regained his feet and came back to the shroom and tried to pull it out again, but the fungi held on and nothing seemed to be able to dislodge it.

Calvin, even tough he felt more powerful than before, felt like nothing could get this mushroom out of the ground. He would need specialized tool for that and, right now, he had none, so he abandoned this peculiar project and tried to go deeper in the cave.

Even after going down in the cavern for so long, Calvin could still see some roots interlacing with the cracked walls, which made his way in the tunnel less of a guessing game of where he could put his feet.

After a while, he finally hit a dead end. It looked like the cave had collapsed on itself and multiple chunk of rocks were laying on the ground. Calvin picked one up and took a glimpse of a small shinier part of the rock.

Calvin remembered seeing those type of rocks in his normal high school science class. Those were most probably geodes and what was inside could be either priceless or useless, but Calvin had nothing to lose since his inventory was empty.

He added all the rocks he could pick up to his inventory and re-checked his time.

To his surprise, his time was less than thirty minutes, which made him go in a rush to take more rocks. Calvin used all the force he could muster and picked up even the heavier geodes. He didn't know how much his inventory could hold on but he guessed it wasn't much since it was distributed to all students.

His time finally came to an end and the same weird and dizzying feeling he felt before came to him. His mind went blank for a bit and then he reappeared in the yard.
