Chapter 2: Land
Dean came to his senses and looked at the tattoo that he originally ignored and scrutinized it.
Looking at it, he noticed more detail, and he finally recalled that when he was about to sleep; he found a bracelet he originally planned to sell for a good meal or two.
He was looking at the tattoo on his wrist. It looked exactly like the one he picked up. It was a matte black lace, and the bead seemed to hold the universe. {image in the comment section.}
During his time being homeless, one thing that made him feel a little human was the people he met. Surprisingly enough, many people came in various fields of expertise, a lot more than he thought when he still had a life of his own.
when he was still well off, he thought that people who were homeless were either just lazy and didn't want to get a job or addicts who had fallen from who they once were, and lastly, those who didn't have a choice but to be homeless because they can not work just like himself.
there are many personalities and many characters that he met and all he can say is he learns a lot from them.
One thing that kept him alive for those five years on the street was his charm. Although he was a cripple, he didn't have many negatives. thoughts there are still some, but not much.
Because of this, he knows that he can't do much being a cripple in the streets, but beg for food and money. Although he had that option, he didn't do that. He still had a little pride left. He could still remember when he was still a sales agent he used to manage millions of dollars for the customer and make sure they liked the product.
but now he has resorted to begging for scraps.
Realizing that wasn't the future he desired, he dedicated himself to learning the art of the shell game from the passing scammer, or "street performer," as he referred to himself.
The streets are incredibly dull, so he always heads to the TV store at night where they replay the most popular shows and movies. Sometimes they even play animes.
Even while being on the streets, he remained knowledgeable about current trends and world events.
He enjoys shows and movies that involve zombies and the concept of a lawless world where everyone is homeless.
he was just watching the ending of the ones who live.
this thought suddenly struck him.
zombies walking around and combined with him just finishing watching the ones who live and with the knowledge he has.
isn't this the concept of that one anime where they suddenly transmigrated to another world?
Does it mean that I have some kind of power?
Despite not really thinking about this situation happening to him because he's always worried about where he's going to get his next meal, pure excitement is seen on his face.
He ran to the edge of the roof again and carefully examined the walkers and sure enough; it was slow, well, at least to where he could see.
He glanced at his tattoo once more, checking if it held any power.
He reminisced about a certain child who eagerly proclaimed their desire to travel the world and taste all the food they had seen on billboards after being reincarnated and obtaining their system.
that kid always says that if I ever was to be in this situation, the first thing I should say is "System".
He took a deep breath and said "System".
He waited but there was no sound, no "Ding" and there was no "Hello Host".
the five years he spent being homeless made him a little shameless, so even when there was no movement to the tattoo, he just kept on yelling phrases that the kid often yells in the morning such as "System", "Big Boss" and "Big System" and all type of things.
One time when he finally asked why he always yells those types of things, all he said was "Couldn't hurt to try to see if it's my lucky day today"
Sure enough, that day was not his lucky day because a couple of hours later he was run over by a truck while trying to save a kid who lost his ball on the street when playing basketball.
He kept yelling phrases for 10 minutes and when he was about to give up, he stared intently at the tattoo where the bead was. Suddenly, he felt a strong pulling force and the next thing he knew; he found himself teleported to a barren land. {image on the comment}
He felt sick. Those pulling forces were no joke. He tried to get himself together, but all that was going on in his mind was a buzzing sound and ringing in his ears, which didn't help his dizziness at all.
after a couple of minutes, he got himself together and was about to look around, but before he could do it, a sudden voice from behind him rang, which made him jump a little.
He didn't know if he was teleported again and was seen by another human being. The thought of it scared him a little because of the possibility of him becoming a lab rat.
Many scenarios ran through his head. He thought about killing whoever it was and dealing with the consequences later and also thought of reasoning with whoever it was and gaslighting him into thinking what he saw was not what he saw.
he chooses the latter and if it doesn't work, go with the other plan.
All this happened in seconds. He didn't even hear that it was still speaking to him.
"My Lord... My Lord..."
