CHAPTER 13

★★Three days later★★

At the cattle ranch where I was at a corner packing some grasses for the cows, I felt a tap behind and my heart about jumped out. I already assumed that it was Damian maybe because he has been in my mind these days. I hurriedly turned my head backwards secretly wishing and hoping that he was the one that tapped me although the scent was different.

"Phew! Emman..." I heaved out a heavy sigh disappointedly. That was my first time setting my eyes on him ever since I left the Robinson's mansion.

I flew into his arms hugging him because I did miss him actually. Emman looked happier to see me as he played with my hair like he would always do when we were younger. Emman sat me down on the ground seated next to me. I bulged out my eyes at him looking at those precious face of his.

"It's really unfair for you not to inform me that you were already back home. I guess Rachel is not also aware that you're back now right?". He asked me while I nodded my head at him in agreement.

"Yes... I'm sorry about that but I didn't want to bother any of you. Everyone has their lives to live at the end don't you think?". I asked him while he looked at me remembering the words of Rachel to him.

While we were still having some conversations, we got interrupted by the entrance of Rachel and two other girls from the neighborhood. Rachel was very happy to see me and she couldn't stop jumping all over my body even though I wasn't comfortable with it. I allowed her to actually be herself around me since she was my childhood friend and we were like soul sisters now. I really valued our friendship and would displease myself to make Rachel happy. The other girls sat next to Emman as we all had some friendly chats.

"Naughty girl! Julienne you're a bad friend now. You didn't even tell any of us not even me that you were back from the mansion. We missed your presence so much and we're equally happy that you are here with us now." Rachel said to me while I beamed a smile at her.

"Julienne tell us, how's your experience at the mansion? Did you find your prince charming there? I wonder how it feels to live with Damian in one house." Elena joined into our discussion while I looked at her speechlessly.

Emman exchanged glances with Rachel and it seemed both weren't comfortable with the question she asked but they pretended to act okay with it. Elena queried me while I was left with no choice but to reminisce on the past. I held onto some past experiences I encountered with Damian and I was totally lost in my thoughts. Those memories were undeniably beautiful and I didn't realize when I started missing Damian. I have to forget those memories or I might end up truly falling in love with him forgetting our difference in status in the society. Rachel called back my escaped soul into the reality while I shook my head in foolishness.

"What are you thinking now Julienne? About him?...." Rachel asked me as I cut her short immediately.

"Who's him? There's no him, all of you are thinking too much and it's time you stop it. Let's get back to work before those men get at us." I said to them, standing up.

"..but it really seems like there's a him and you're avoiding that conversation Julienne. Maybe they're actually right while we were here missing you, you were having some great time at the mansion." Emman said to with a cold deep voice that left me surprised.

I looked at Emman's face and I could see how pale it was. I didn't read meanings into his words because I still believed we were good friends from old times but I don't know if that was how it was for him now. Rachel really understood where he was coming from but she tried comporting herself. Emman left there longside with Rachel while I shook my head being helped by Elena and Isa in packing those grasses meant for the cows at the ranch.

Rachel dragged Emman to a corner holding holding him by his wrist. Emman stood infront of her wondering what was going in her mind again.

"See the way you reacted when Damian's name was brought up in the midst of our conversation and you would still pretend you feel nothing for Julienne...nah that's a lie." Rachel whisphered to him in a low tone.

"It came from a place of concern Rachel and you're really thinking too much. I don't have feelings for Julienne instead you're the one having fantasy feelings for Damian. That'll never work out even if it was between him and Julienne. The both of you should know your class and stop going far." Emman replied her while she rolled her eyes at him annoyed by his words.

Still working at the cattle ranch we got an information from our masters that the Robinsons had prepared a big dinner night for us which would be taking place at the field of their mansion. I suspected that it was Damian's idea but then again there have been cases like this in the past so I really didn't know if it was Mr Patrick's idea or his son's. It would be stupid of me to think that I really mattered to Damian to throw a dinner night party for the cattle ranch workers. The girls were very happy to hear the news because such beautiful news happens randomly. Rachel couldn't stop pondering on how tonight was gonna play out and she would be meeting our master's son tonight. I wasn't prepared to face Damian yet to be honest. He would want to have a discussion with me but I would try my best to avoid such communication with him. Rachel escorted me back home after getting some works done at the ranch.

Packing in some of the dried clothes I had hanged outside few hours ago into a large knitted basket, Rachel kept me busy with some chit chats.

"I can't wait for tonight to meet the prince charming Damian. I would be entering into the mansion for the first time. Ain't you excited too huh?" She asked me happily while I shook my head.

"There's nothing special about tonight. I'm only worried because I don't want to cross path with Damian. I'm trying my best to avoid him and I hope it doesn't happen tonight." I replied in a low tone folding in the clothes into the basket.

"You might have fallen for him too right? Who wouldn't fall in love with such a handsome young man like him? I even overheard some gossips that his rumoured fiance will be arriving the dinner night tonight. I didn't know he was already engagef but it might be an arranged engagement." Rachel said to me while I dropped the clothes looking at her surprised.

This was my first time hearing such rumor and I was bamboozled. Those words kept ringing in my ears and I really didn't know where to place my feelings after hearing that he indeed was engaged to some kinda girl. She might also be from a wealthy background and it was better he sticker to his class and not some common girl like me that has no place in the society.
