Chapter 6 - First Day

*Ava Jones POV*

Walking through the office confidently. I promised myself that I will not get insecure about myself this time.

From experience here, I made sure to dress maturely.

This time here it looked like I am one of them.

Similar to last time, This time eyes of people were on me again as well but the difference was the way they were looking at me. Previously their eyes were showing disgust which was telling me that I don't belong in this place but now I could see men eying me out and girls were looking at themselves insecurely.

To be honest, now I don't care what other people think, now all I want is to work hard and show them that I deserve this position.

"WTF, How in the world am I supposed to complete this work by tomorrow 6 pm!?", I shouted mentally while seeing the bundle of files on my desk.

That jerk really planned all this to ruin me. I knew his motives weren't right at all from start. Did he hire me to ruin me like this?!

Hope he burns in hell!

Releasing a big sigh, I opened one file but that son of a bitch wasn't making anything better. It felt like my eyes popped out.

WTF is this? Do they really assign this work to new employees?

Two days are not enough for all this!?

I was about to go into his office to complain about it but my steps were frozen when a thought came to my mind.

This will make him happy! This is what he wants. He wants to prove to me that I don't deserve to be hired by his company.

And I will also prove him wrong! I convinced myself and started doing all my work with focus and carefulness.

I was so determined to do all this that the time goes on too fast, it was already evening and time to take my off.

I quickly picked up all files and was ready to go home. I was so hungry too because I didn't eat anything for lunch.

Thank God I didn't see that Rylan otherwise seeing him in front of these files will surely want me to punch him too. Sometimes he is just too lucky.

After buying some takeout I went home. Eating my food quickly, I started working again.

I kept yawning again and again. It's 3 AM and the work is still not done.

4 files are completed and that's my limit for today. I need to sleep, I can't do it anymore. I will do the rest of the two files tomorrow, most probably I think I can do it by tomorrow at 6 O clock. If it wasn't for him, I would be able to complete this file earlier but this time I had to make sure to check again and again if there are any mistakes or not otherwise he would forever tease me for this.

Even I am surprised how I completed 4 files today, this would be a slap to his face for doubting my abilities, I thought while mentally flipping my hair.

Before dozing off, I put thousands of alarms just to make sure I wake up cause I don't trust myself with one alarm. If there is one, I would probably off it in my sleep. I can't make any mistakes here. After putting an alarm by every 5 minutes in the morning, I quickly dozed off to my dreamland which is the only place for my peace. How I wish I could sleep forever!

The thing which was bound to happen happened, most of my alarms were snoozed but thankfully I arrived on time for work cause of my unending alarms. I was almost late, but I got lucky today for the first time because I got saved by just 3 minutes.

I reached towards my desk and started doing my remaining two files.

*Rylan Nichols POV*

It's almost 6 pm and I am waiting for Ava to come into my office with files. I am 99% sure she hasn't completed the given work. I knew it was evil of me to give her 6 files on her first day with little time but that was to test her so I am not gonna scold her this time if she doesn't complete the work.

it's just that I am way too nice with a very kind heart.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a knock. I settle myself and with a stern voice, I spoke "come in".

at the door I saw Ava coming in, she kinda looked nervous and had dark circles. I think she hasn't completed her work and also hasn't slept enough.

Woah it's fun seeing her in this state and being scared of me. This is what I wanted, she should know who is the boss here.

With light steps, she came to my table. I was going to say her that it will be the first and last time that I am letting her go for not completing the given work but before I could even say anything, I was silent by her when she handed me the bundle of documents.

What!!? Did she complete the work but how? Most of my best employees take at least 3 to 4 days but she did it in one and a half?!!

Am I dreaming or something? Maybe she did it wrong, I need to check it. Before I could check it, she fake coughed. I saw her and when my attention was on her, she spoke

"So can I leave now? ", she spoke.

Aww, she already wants to leave, I thought of talking with her for a while. Wtf am I thinking?

"Yes, you may leave", I spoke coldly.

With that, she left the room.

I curiously opened the documents, I checked all the files and it made me shook. All the files were amazingly done in such a little time. There were some points which were not wrong but I think could be done better other than that it was overall done greatly with carefulness.

I am impressed by her work. I doubted her skills and this just removed all my doubts.

*Ava Jones POV*

I left the room in a good mood. I was happy with his reaction, it looked like he didn't expect this at all.

This time I was smiling widely.

I was about to go to my desk but there was something that grabbed my attention and left me shaken. The words escaped my lips without me knowing.

"How is this even possible? ", these words came lightly and there was a hint of so much shock in them.
