The next couple of days merged into one, and I spent most of my time hounding any doctors that came into the room for answers. Constant checks were being carried out on him, and with no response to anything that they were doing, my heart broke with each and every lack of response from Jace. But, I couldn’t bear to think of any other conclusion than him getting better, so plodding forward, I read to Jace from a magazine that I had bought at the shop in the hospital, and hoped that the annoyance of me jabbering on about the latest make-up and skin care routines, would be enough to wake him up.
When I hadn’t been watching every breath that Jace was taking, I was phoning work to make sure that things were put into place in our absence. Luckily, with Jace being super-organised, there were trusted managers ready to take over at a moment’s notice, and I was thankful for that.
