Hard nut to crack

Having been sunk in the darkness, the room began irradiating with the rays of the dawn. The shapes of the objects were regaining their definition, and the imminent rising sun rays that remained under cover throughout the awful night were about to brighten up the surroundings. Hiding behind the curtains, Sam had a glimpse of a slightly illuminated figure, lying on her back, wrapped up in a woolen tartan shawl in the bed. Obsessed with dreams, the lady was in her tight sleep like a newlywed woman, who sleeps after her golden night ecstasies. Her face bearing soft creamy skin was half-covered with her loose silky hair like a beautiful blue sky obliterated with patches of dark clouds.

On the other hand, her man was in a state of torment like a tortured captive in a dungeon. He did not dare to come out of his so-called comfort zone to encounter vulnerability. He will not be able to scratch out of his mind the engraved arduous memories of the affliction he underwent last night. He was pensively looking at his right side as the physical and mental imprints of misery were perceptible on his back and face respectively. His eyes, once bright sparkling objects, reflected deep dolefulness. The surrounding objects looked blurred due to his fitful night's slumber for being in intense agony. His look began wandering through the room, but he did not see anything because he was in his deep thoughts. His forehead was covered with deep wrinkles, which were as uneven as his turbulent life. Bushy black brows frowned from the night's suffering, made these wrinkles even deeper, and brought a rather strict expression on his face.

Indubitably, his rival was a sadist barbarous demon; with the powers of being invisible, changing shapes, turning into smoke, and entering human bodies to hypnotize their victims. This makes this demonic jinni more powerful than him. He never wanted to plunge into such a melancholy, but his mind succumbed to his heart, obeyed and complied with the commands to rescue his unrequited love. He was well aware that he had a compassionate and kind heart, which always ruled over his head.

Cool morning wind blew outside, made its way into the room through the window crevices, and brushed his senile face slightly. He filled his chest with the fresh morning air, which smelt damp and musty. He involuntarily smiled from the corner of his mouth while thinking that his better half had been stolen. This aggrieved thought polluted his mind and added to his grief that his rapturous delight of reuniting with his love had been tarnished yet he continued grinning miserably. The position where he was supposed to be in the night, his rival, seizing the throne, had deprived him of his legitimate right.

The yellow ball began rising with its red shades spreading everywhere. That was the right time. Sam mustered courage and stood up, feeling tired and shivering from pain in his back. He had a glance at the sleeping beauty and then tiptoed to the vanity. He threw a quick look at the mirror and smiled again and inhaled the air. He could not resist a flashback of being most loved and respected among his people. They reckoned him as an interesting and smart person, who knew when to insert a word or when to stay silent. People spoke highly of his determined and strong character, which was well-combined with his sense of sympathy and willingness to help. He did a lot of good things; his sensitive heart never let him stay indifferent to those who needed help.

All of a sudden, his flashback was pierced and ended when he heard a buzzing noise and a sleep groan followed by loud excessive yawning by Jennifer. He instantly crouched down, lay on the floor, and then made himself creep and reached under the bed, which was just a few inches high from the floor. He did not want to encounter Jennifer to get thrashed again because he was sure about the demon's presence within her.  At the same time, he had no plan to leave her alone, he had no mind to give in or give up; he was determined and committed to fighting till the last drop of his blood. Even though unethical practices were taking place in his presence; he felt as helpless as an infant caterpillar in a nest of hungry ants.

He sensed that Jennifer tossed and turned in the bed. She then sat up and grumbled under her breath, "Dhan vee then imba rashuga…dur imba rajjega… mitaga vera dhera vijja …. Keve mita hunanee…konduvas ginnane?"

Sam heard each word of Jennifer's utterance, but could not understand the language at all. "What language is she speaking?"

After a short pause, she spoke again, "Ahren mita hunna benume nu; ahren ginda vara rangalvana…abudves imba rajjega hunna benume!"

He at once understood that it must be the native language of the spirit and she was talking to that invisible entity.

"Do they know I'm hiding under the bed?" Sam muttered to himself, "I don't think so… if they had known, they would have kicked me out of this house at once…But I think that the demon was not around when I stood and saw my reflection in the mirror…he has just arrived and talked to Jennifer after spending a playful night with her!" Evil presumptions had overwhelmed Sam's head.

Sam was not sure whether the thoughts he was obsessed with are true or not. He saw nothing with his own eyes. He did not see the demon making love with his sweetheart with his own eyes. How could he believe what he had been thinking was true? But he had witnessed Jennifer's demeanor and expressions of fornicating with someone. "Sexsomnia or fornication?"  Lying motionless on the cold floor under the bed, Sam covered his face with both his cold palms and fell into deep gloomy preoccupation.

He then heard that Jennifer was getting out of bed, stood on her feet, and lumbered towards the vanity. He inferred that she was looking at her reflection in the mirror as well as tying her hair into a bun on the top of her head. This is what he experienced watching every morning after waking up. He loved her neck and nape… and earlobes of course amid this activity. He began craving the cuddling and caressing of her darling. He fell into envisioning his nose and lips rubbing on her side-neck and wrapping his arms from behind while she was tying her hair."

He knew that Jennifer will have a refreshing morning shower shortly. He wished to drop some holy water in her bathtub, "How can I do that? The bottle is in my shoulder bag, which had dropped somewhere out of the bedroom while I was being struck."

When he peeked from under the bed, Jennifer had exited the room. He came out stealthily and made his way out of the room. He picked up his bag lying on the floor near the boundary wall and flew out of the house like a prisoner from a dungeon's gloom.

Fatigue and distress were his companions as his sleepless night, his back pain, and his wife's apparent indecent and immodest activities caused this companionship. He took out his cell phone and rang Hammad Syed, "Hi!" He groaned.

"Hey…What's wrong? Everything Ok?" Hammad Syed was puzzled.

"Not Ok…She changed all of a sudden last night! She didn't let me get close to her…Instead, she assaulted me! And she spoke a language this morning I've never heard before!" Sam uttered in a quavering voice.

"Oh my God!  O.k…come over to me…I've got it now…it is not at all plain sailing…I'll have to draw up something more practical… it's now or never...either to live or to die!" Hammad Syed spoke in a confident tone.
