Leerans have advanced psychic powers, which make them very desirable Yeerk hosts. Leerans are scarce species that only have one small star field with a few planets. Those planets with lands were cherished because they were their only sources of mating. Originally, Leerans needed to go on land to mate, but technology has made that unnecessary. Now, each of these cherished planets is greedily eyed by the Servant race.

Since the universe bullies are interested in those planets. They want to get it through forced conquest.
