Chapter 74 — She Now Calls Me Chuan

"Yes, very. So, should we continue too?" Li Chuanmo asked half jokingly.

Pei Yueran coughed. Truthfully, if she were to think logically about things before doing them, especially when it concerned Li Chuanmo, she would never do them. But being with Li Chuanmo just made her feel a sense of freedom she was not used to. It made her feel like she was walking on clouds, and could do anything without consequences.

Li Chuanmo did things to her mind that she had never experienced before, not even with Han Lei. With Han Lei, she felt safe, warm and cared for.

With Li Chuanmo however, she felt a sort of passion she had never thought possible. The intensity of it scared her sometimes, yet she was drawn to it helplessly, like a moth to flames.

Thinking about Han Lei dampened whatever heat she still felt within and brought back a familiar sense of guilt.

Li Chuanmo saw her expression and knew what her answer would be.

"Chuan, I'll be very honest with you. It's useless to deny the attraction between us, so I won't do that, but....."

"Shhhh", Li Chuanmo made a shushing gesture by putting a finger to her lips. "I totally understand, so you don't need to say more." Just her call of "Chuan" sweetened his heart, making him want to pluck the stars for her if she asked. It was a clear indicator of just how far their relationship had progressed.

"Honestly, contrary to how I seem to always want to .....do something to you, I didn't confess just because of that. I really love you, and I'm ready to wait until you're ready.

"I plan to take the time to know you and just enjoy this new phase. I hope we would get close enough to share anything and everything with each other."

Pei Yueran hugged him, genuinely touched. She then asked with a smile, "So is today our Day One?"

"You bet."

He walked her to her door, which was really less than a minute away from his study.

They waved at each other before Pei Yueran shut her door.

Yes, waved. Because Li Chuanmo could not handle even a casual hug at the moment, much less a kiss. His promise to wait and be a gentleman would have gone up in smoke.

A mere cold shower would not suffice this time. He went downstairs to the gym instead. He needed to do a full workout.

When he passed by his parents' room on his way downstairs, he did the most childish thing he had done since he turned eighteen years of age.

He kicked their door hard before running away.

Serves them right!

Zhang Heying was still feeling embarrassed when they entered into their room, but Li Qianye quickly got rid of that emotion and replaced it with something more....exciting.

A long while later, after the wind and waves had subsided, both of them lay in each other's arms, talking.

"Hubby, do you think we should go home tomorrow? I think our work here is done, no?"

"I think so too. We have helped them enough, and even if we didn't mean to, we have shown them enough as well. They should be able to sort the rest out on their own. Hopefully, we would get the happy news soon."

"That would be so wonderful. Ran'er is such a darling. She looks like the Madam of this house already."

"Exactly. They look so good together. By the way Wifey, do you think we interrupted something on their end? Else, what were they doing so late at night? And why was Li Chuanmo so angry? I'm very sure it wasn't about company affairs."

Zhang Heying tried to cast her mind back to remember if there was any particular expression she noticed on her son's face, but soon remembered that she was too lost in her own passion and subsequent embarrassment to look at him.

She had the good grace to blush in her husband's arms.

Li Qianye took that as an invitation and leaned in. Zhang Heying welcomed him by wrapping her arms around his neck, even as she wondered why he always had endless amounts of energy for this kind of activity. Doesn't he ever get tired?

Very quickly, she didn't have the wherewithal to wonder or even think, as her husband began to work his magic on her again.

*****

The days passed by uneventfully. Pei Yueran and Li Chuanmo were almost always in the study with Jiang Philip, as the deadline drew ever closer.

Li Chuanmo's parents left his house the next day after lunch, much to Li Yuchen's sadness. He had to repeatedly tell himself that "big boys don't cry", before managing to keep his emotions in check.

Living with them for over two months had made him accustomed to their presence. They kept him company while his father was busy, cared for him and played with him.

It was obvious they also took out time to teach his dad life lessons, because he could see the change in him. His relationship with his goddess had also improved vastly.

To put it plainly, love was in the air, and a wedding was on the way.

His father also regularly attended their "lessons", paying his wages on time.

Life was good.

But now that his grandparents were leaving, he was missing them already.

After hugging Li Yuchen for the fortieth time, Zhang Heying kissed his cheek and went to hug Pei Yueran too. As they hugged, she whispered into her ears, "Thank you so much."

For loving her son and grandson. For taking good care of them. For being such a wonderful friend.

Pei Yueran hugged her back, relishing the affection she had seen in her eyes.

Somehow, they were beginning to feel like a dear part of her family.

She officially went back home two days later, much to Li Yuchen's misery. He cheered up a bit when she explained that her Yichen was coming to live in city M and she wanted to arrange things in the house before his arrival.

So Yichen was coming? That's great! They still spoke regularly and were now tight friends.

Li Chuanmo on his part, was very depressed as well. Even though he knew he would be still see her at work, he felt it would not be the same. But he couldn't stop her from leaving. She had stayed for a long time already.

Still, when she entered the car that was to take her home, both father and son stood beside the car in dejection, looking like abandoned puppies.

In the end, she caved in and allowed them to take her home. All three of them went back to Pei Yueran's apartment and helped her unpack.

Li Chuanmo had already sent some workers the day before to go and clean up, so everywhere was sparkling when Pei Yueran entered. It looked like she had never left.

Home sweet home.

There ends the injury/cohabiting arc!

Thanks for coming with me on this journey.
