Chapter 104 — Your Wife Came, Sir

Pei Yueran's gaze moved from one man to the other. Alright, this was going from bad to worse. Knowing how beneficial the partnership would be and how much Li Chuanmo was looking forward to it, she didn't want him to cancel the partnership in anger.

Still, she was really displeased with Gao Tinghua. He had to know his place.

Looking at him, she enunciated her words slowly.

"No means No, Mr. Gao. Do have a pleasant day."

With that, she held Li Chuanmo's hand and walked away.

At the door, she turned and added, "And it is Ms. Pei to you. We're not that close, please remember that. Good bye."

She pulled Li Chuanmo out and closed the door with a flourish.

Gao Tinghua just stood looking at the door. The eerie silence unsettled his team. How would this unpredictable boss of theirs react now?

Just when the silence was getting unbearable, Gao Tinghua laughed.

This girl was fun.

He was looking forward to his time in City M.

"Chuan, why are you so quiet? Are you angry with me?" Pei Yueran asked. They had been in the car for twenty minutes, heading for the company, and Li Chuanmo had not said a word since they entered.

"I'm angry, but not with you of course."

"Just ignore him. He was this obnoxious when I met him on the way to City A the other time as well."

"The main thing is that he's not as simple as he seems. Just be careful."

"Alright I will. Anyway, I have you, don't I?" Pei Yueran said in an attempt to lighten the mood.

It worked.

"Yes you do." He decided to tease her, "Although I think you do a better job protecting me. You looked so cool when you dragged me out of the meeting room. Ranran to the rescue."

She patted him lightly while laughing, "Stop it."

"Oh but it's true. My Lady Ran of Arc." Li Chuanmo said, giving a wobbly bow.

Gong Anwei, who happened to be driving: "..."

I really need a leave and a salary raise. It has been proven that eating dog food frequently can lead to constipation and shorten one's lifespan!

"By the way, I won't be going directly to the office. I have a meeting with President Du, and I would like to check on the Lantern project afterwards."

"Alright. I would have gone with you, but I also have a meeting in a few minutes."

"No problem. See you later." Pei Yueran said, before alighting. She blew him a kiss before alighting and walking forward to hail a cab.

Li Chuanmo "caught" it and smashed it into his "heart", grinning foolishly.

Gong Anwei: Oh no, I can't bear to continue looking.

Li Chuanmo was in a really good mood, and it lasted till he got into his office. The secretary, Min Shiyi knocked and walked in, bringing some files that needed his attention.

As he was looking through them, she kept making some restless movements that Li Chuanmo noticed out of the corner of his eye. "Do you have something to report?" He asked.

Min Shiyi took a deep breath and plunged in. "You had a visitor just now sir. The reception called to inform me. She was looking for you particularly."

"Name?" Li Chuanmo asked indifferently, not even lifting his head to look at her.

"She said her name is Xie Weiwan."

Li Chuanmo froze.

Seeing his reaction, Min Shiyi decided to drop the final bombshell.

"She said she's your wife, sir."

"Good day, Ms. Su. How are you feeling today?" The doctor asked once Su Qianhua was seated. Jiang Philip came along as well, and he was allowed to enter because Su Qianhua didn't mind one way or the other.

She was still angry with him, but since he came to pick her up early in the morning and had repeatedly apologized, she didn't say anything.

She hoped she could get things over and done with today. Because she didn't know for certain if the procedure would be done immediately, she had taken the whole day off. Depending on how she felt after the procedure, she would decide if she had to use her leave days earlier.

"I'm okay doctor. How is it? Can we begin?"

"Not so fast Ms. Su. Actually, I called you into the office because I have something important to tell you.

"Your test results are out. Before I explain further though, let me ask you first, have you been feeling dizzy and tired for sometime now? I mean before the pregnancy?"

Su Qianhua frowned as she thought. "Yes, kind of. But that's because of the work I do, it's a very tiring job."

The doctor asked, "How about bleeding? Do you bleed heavily when you sustain a minor injury? And your period, has it been heavy for a while now?"

Su Qianhua blushed, but she still nodded. She wished she had just let Jiang Philip sit outside. "Yes, but I thought it's because I naturally have a lot of blood."

"Actually that's not the reason. According to your test results, you have iron deficiency anemia and thrombocytopenia. It means that certain cells in your blood needed to transport oxygen and stop bleeding are seriously low.

"With these conditions, going for a surgery is too risky and therefore unadvisable. It could lead to serious complications, such as hemorrhaging, shock and death."

Su Qianhua felt blood drain away from her face and rush to her head. "What?"

Jiang Philip, who was not really listening to the doctor, jerked his head up immediately he heard the words "risky" and "unadvisable". For one brief moment, his heart soared with pure happiness. Does that mean, they had to keep the baby?

But he quickly came back to earth, looking towards Su Qianhua. Seeing how pale she looked, he was sure she was having a mental collapse. She couldn't form any words aside from the initial exclamation. He could see her slight body trembling.

The happiness he felt earlier evaporated into nothingness. He sighed and took charge.

"So Doctor, what do you suggest we do? As you can see, it is important we get....get rid of the baby. Is there any other way?"

The doctor looked at him before answering, "As a matter of fact, what we can do now is to treat those conditions first. We have to get her blood levels up and condition her body. This could take anywhere from six weeks to three months, or even longer.

"It will depend on her diet and compliance with the therapy. We would also repeat the test at intervals. Once her results look good, we can then do the surgery."
