184 — Married Life After The Mothers' Arrival (2)

Mother Su was a good cook, and everyone tucked into the meal after saying their thanks.

Even Kathy who wasn't very used to oriental dishes loved Mother Su's meals.

After living together for a few days, the two mothers had become friends. Between them, Su Qianhua was living the life of a queen.

Both of them regularly cooked together and exchanged oriental and western recipes, giving Su Qianhua a varied diet.

Like now. As they ate, Kathy asked Mother Su how she prepared the braised pork dish. Mother Su enthusiastically responded with the recipe, talking about the ingredients and cooking process.

Su Qianhua, who had finished her meal with lightning speed listened to their conversation for a bit before looking away in disinterest. She was more interested in eating than cooking.

Pregnancy had not changed her tendency to gulp food down. She was the first to finish eating, but she wasn't ready to leave the table yet.

Her gaze landed on Jiang Philip who was seated across from her. He was eating slowly and had not even finished half of his rice. Her eyes softened.

If anyone had told her that she would grow to care deeply about a man whose eating habits were the total opposite of hers, she would have laughed in disbelief.

Looking at the way he was eating while lost in thought, Su Qianhua grinned impishly. He looked bored, so she decided to help him liven things up.

Jiang Philip was sipping his soup whilst thinking about his project in the office. He now worked from home, but he was required to come in at least once a week.

He planned to go to the company the next day to discuss the project with the director, but first, he wanted to make a few changes to the main character's appearance.

Just then, Mother Su spoke to him, "Philip, how's the food?"

He looked sideways at her and smiled. "It's absolutely delicious Mom. I love it, thank you."

Mother Su smiled. She clipped a piece of braised pork and put it on his rice. "Try this, it's very soft and well seasoned."

Under her gaze, he picked it up with his chopsticks and ate. "He then said, "It melts in the mouth easily. I—"

He suddenly froze midsentence, because he could feel a toe sliding up his leg and slowly moving upward to his thigh.

He swung his gaze to the front, where he saw Su Qianhua giving him a mischievous smile. Instantly he began coughing.

His wife was the first to show concern, "Sorry Hubby. Drink some water." She said, passing a glass of water to him. The two mothers also looked over in concern.

He accepted the glass and proceeded to drink, acutely aware of the toe that had gotten to the upper part of his thigh. Any moment from now, it would either go up to his waist, or derail to his—.

He sent her a pleading look as he mouthed, "Baby, please stop."

Su Qianhua smiled and mouthed back "innocently", "What should I stop? Am I doing anything?"

Jiang Philip put a hand under the table and captured the naughty toe, causing Su Qianhua to pout. He mouthed, "please?", to which she reluctantly nodded.

Relieved, he released her toe and she removed her foot. He then went back to eating in peace. But this time, the speed at which he was eating increased visibly, as if he couldn't wait to run away.

Dissatisfied, Su Qianhua planned to strike again. This time, she was going to make sure he could not catch her toe.

Mother Su was still telling Kathy how to identify fresh pork when she felt a slightly itchy sensation running up her leg. She shook her leg a bit, still intent on what she was saying.

When she could still feel the sensation, she opened her mouth to complain about ants running around the apartment when she caught sight of her daughter's hot gaze that was trained on her son-in-law, who was clearly speed-eating.

Mother Su narrowed her eyes. She could tell what was going on at a glance. These children! On a side note, it was now obvious that her daughter was the real thirsty one. She lit a candle for her poor son-in-law in her heart.

Su Qianhua was getting increasingly suspicious about Jiang Philip's lack of reaction. She knew he could not take a bit of teasing, so why was he so calm? Did she need to take it a step higher?

Mother Su has originally planned to keep quiet, but when she felt Su Qianhua's toe on the inner part of her thigh, she was shocked. Wasn't this too much stimulation during lunch?

This daughter of hers was too bold! Her son-in-law was really enduring a lot!

"Qianhua, what are you doing?" Mother Su spoke up, causing Su Qianhua to freeze. Turning her gaze to Jiang Philip's side, she saw her mother staring at her.

To prove her point, Mother Su grabbed her toe, causing Su Qianhua to blush. "Sorry Mom."

Jiang Philip's eyes widened as understanding dawned. He then turned his face to hide his grin. Su Qianhua glared at him. Only Kathy was totally lost on what was actually happening.

"If you're done eating, you can go to the living room. I'll go and make some tea for you." Kathy said with a smile, to which Su Qianhua nodded gratefully.

As she stood up, she heard her mother say, "Kathy, we really made the right choice to stay with them. I can't wait to see our grandchild."

Kathy nodded happily while the couple's faces collapsed.

Su Qianhua began looking forward to next week. She couldn't wait to go to City M so that they could finally have some time alone.

These days, she felt like a pregnant queen in the palace that was being prevented from sleeping with the king by the queen dowagers.

Still, her husband had better be expecting her in his room tonight.

*****

Friday dawned clear and cold. The temperatures were at their lowest yet. Although it wasn't snowing, the weather forecast predicted snowfall in the afternoon.

Although Friday the 13th was superstitiously associated with bad luck and evil doings, many people looked forward to it because of the massive sales usually conducted by companies on that day. As such, the residents of City M had been out and about as early as dawn.

Pei Yueran had been looking forward to the day, but for a different reason. It was her last day of work at the company before the wedding, so she could take a long deserved rest after today.
