Chapter 27: Rose Is Unemployed

Rose had only ever been a matchmaker. She’d been groomed since birth that she would become that and would take over her family’s business.

She sat in the parking lot of the building she’d worked at for the past five years and for once, she didn’t have a key to get in. Her parents were still inside sorting out her clients.

Cade was still a client, but she’d made his file inactive so they wouldn’t contact him.

She’d have to tell him what had happened.

She was still reeling from the shock of her parents firing her. She’d never thought they’d do it. The idea that she wouldn’t be working for them never entered her mind. Now that it was reality, she didn’t know what to feel.

The logistics of finding another job escaped her at the moment. She needed to grasp her current situation before she could move on.
