Chapter 5: Wandless

From the experience of burning the paper it could be seen that magic was related to emotions, though It would be too soon to say magic was from emotions.

Knowing magic was related to emotion I decided to do various tests. I had good memory and could recall specific memories in my life that made me angry, sad, happy,.... .

There was just one problem I had not foreseen. The memories did not invoke a singular emotion rather it usually invoked several emotions or a mixture of emotions.

Nonetheless in every single experience I could do something extraordinary. It was then that I realized it was not the type of emotion that mattered but its intensity.

The day I burned the paper I was extremely angry but the object of my anger was the entire world and given my limited amount of power I just burned the paper and made a mess out of my room, but it was difficult to say what I could have done if I was had specific thing my anger was directed at.

As days passed learning wandless magic I was again reminded of its volatile nature. At first I thought I was not controlling my emotions well enough but as days passed I could control my emotions better. Despite that I could not truly control wandless magic as much as I liked to.

After countless experiments which caused aunt Olivia to have a serious talk with me and even taking me to St Mungo to have me checked. I summarized some rules to wandless magic.

First wandless magic is better controlled if you have a higher focus on what you want to achieve and not the method. For instance if you only focus on lifting the paper regardless if the airflow moves the paper or it just floats, the paper will fly most of the time.

Second rule of wandless magic is emotional intensity is important in wandless magic if your emotions does not reach a certain threshold nothing would happen which is one of the reasons adults find it harder to do accidental wandless magic.

Third rule is that though the kind of emotions are irrelevant some emotions are easier to control. For example if you choose fear one of the oldest human emotions you will sometimes immerse in your fear so much that you will have very intense emotions. This immersion makes it difficult to remember the goal and often accidents happen.

Fourth rule which is an extension of first rule branches magics that require precision including but not limited to charms and transfiguration are extremely difficult to do wandless.

Fifth rule chants, gestures no matter the language have no effect on wandless magic unless the word helps you remember some memory or reminisce some emotions.
