///////////

August and Hans kept on training day and night. August was an excellent student. During their time together, he quickly got a hang of most of the things that Witcher should know. But the best fields were elixirs, herbs, and his senses.

August's senses were sharp even considering Witchers. He could easily tell what the differences between herbs were by smell and also he was good at other fields that include observations. His sight was perfect. He could spot all the surrounding things. Pairing it up with his sixth sense, he was superb.

But nobody knew of one thing, August always was on high alert, and that wasn't because Hans taught him. It is just a feeling that he cannot wash off. Something that keeps pushing him to the conclusion that something terrible is going to happen.

So, on one of the days after the training and evening reading session, August went to sleep. During his sleep, he saw Kaer Morhen, but it was on set on a raging fire. Everything was burning like a torch. He saw how old Witchers were fighting against some people, people that were equipped with pitchforks and knives. Anything but actual weapons.

But the scenery of Raging, all-devouring fire, will forever be in his memory.

Immense crowd, thousands of people that were screaming something, while 22 Witchers and some mages were observing everything from the top of the wall. But it didn't last long until the entire crowd attacked a castle. They were throwing their own bodies at Witchers. Witchers were slashing hands, legs and heads off of people's bodies. But that didn't stop them.

This crowd turned crazy. They were like mad dogs that had no stop signal. They were killing themselves, but it didn't last long. Witchers were fighting proficiently, but it has no matter how good you are when you cannot see all around yourself. People were coming from behind and stabbing witchers in the backs.

By the end of the dream, Kaer Morhen was on fire, and all the books were burning with fiery flames. August could not allow that. They were his best friends. He woke up, from the dream, or is it really a dream?

August was in a cold sweat, seeing people die. He could deal with it, but books. His books didn't deserve this. He has to save them. Probably a few things August does care about is books, Hans, Geralt and Eskel. He had no other friends or things he did like.

August sneaked out of the castle with all the books that he hadn't read and dug a deep hole in the nearby forest. Digging the hole deep enough, he covered all the books in cloth and threw them in the hole, putting dirt at the top.

He did 3 runs, taking away 3 bags of unique books and burying them in the forest so they could stay safe. After that, he went to get a bit more rest. When he woke up, he went to do his usual training. Training on muscles, reflexes, attentiveness and flexibility. Once he was done, he found Hans on the usual spot at the training ground.

August walked toward Hans and stopped right in front of him. It looked like August wanted to talk about something, and it wasn't hard for Hans to notice that. So Hans inquired, looking at August, "What is that you want to talk about?"

August at first just looked down at the floor, but then he looked at Hans and informed him, "Kaer Morhen will be destroyed, leave this place"

Hans looked at August with stern eyes and said in a deep voice "You can't joke around like that kid. There are boundaries even in jokes that you don't have to cross"

August looked unmoved by Hans's words and repeated once again in a serious voice, "Kear Morhen will fall, and you need to leave to survive."

Hans sighed and looked at August with a questioning stare and questioned "How do you know that?"

August shrugged and gave a brief reply, "I just do"

"Oh, kid," replied Hans and had a try in figuring more details about this matter. "When?"

August looked away and replied, "I don't know, but I think it is soon"

*Sigh*

"Kid, you are a death of me," said Hans in a tired voice, but still said a few words. "Even if what you said is true then I won't do it. I lived a long life. This is my home. This is a place where all the people I know and cherish life, so I will never back away from them. You can run away, you are too young to die.

You still have plenty of things to experience and live through, so I wish for you to live, but for me? An old Witcher that cannot hunt monsters like before, an old man that's only duty is to train young boys? If I can die protecting my home rather than dying fighting against the monster, I find more pleasure in doing so."

August muttered under his breath, "Stupid"

But nothing escapes the sharp senses of the old Witcher. Hans looked at August with a bit of sadness and said, "You might not understand it yet, but I wish for you to find a place which you will be ready to put your life, and defend it until your last breath"

"I don't think it is possible" replied August, thinking that Hans is saying some nonsense repeatedly. Without trying to annoy Hans anymore, August gave up the idea of convincing him to leave and proceed with training.

….

After the training was done, and everyone went to eat, something bad happened. Many people walked out of the forest area towards the castle of Witchers. All of them had hateful eyes, their hearts were burning with anger and their hands were in anticipation of the blood of the demons.

There were many people that gathered up and surround the entrance, the only way in and out of the castle. Among those folks that gathered up to kill the remaining Witchers, there were special people that pretended to be folks as well.

But this is not the truth. Those people were Knight from the Order of White Rose. They were the ones responsible for directing the folks toward Witchers and eliminating them at the hands of stupid commoners.

Without waiting for anything to start, folks launched arrows with fire across the gate of the castle to burn it down, but it was noticed on the other side.

While Witchers were having a nice dinner, someone run inside of the canteen and screamed "We are under attack, there are thousands of folks outside of the gates with pitchforks, clubs and knives. They are demanding our death!"

Hans stood on his legs and looked at August with wide eyes, then his eyes moved to another Witcher that is one of his good friends and screamed at him "Vesemir, save kids. it is not their battle to fight, it is an old generation that will lay their lives here, not young ones."

Vesemir looked at Hans and shook his head. "It is my responsibility as well to protect our home. I'm coming with you!"

Hans, on the other hand, looked furious after the words of Vesemir and rushed towards him and took a good grip on his throat and asked, "Do you know how these kinds without training will survive without us?"

Vesemir didn't resist, but leaving Kaer Morhen for him is a hard decision to make, but he knew kids were his responsibility. He cherished them in his own way, a way that he could do to the degree of a Witcher.

He shook his head in a reply to Hans's question. Hans stated, "You are the best teacher among all of us. This is our duty to protect our home, but without people to live here, it is nothing. So go and safe last generation of Witchers that will keep the memory of their old teachers fighting to stand ground against stupid bastards."

Vesemir understood what Hans meant and, without wasting more time, he collected all the kids to leave the castle through a secret passage hidden in the mountain.

When they walked out of the secret passage, all they saw in the distance was

Raging Fire.
