Azriel gazed at Dahlia, his eyes laced with concern, as he asked her once again, "Are you alright?" It was the umpteenth time that night he had posed the question. Ever since he found her in the lake, he refused to take his eyes off her for fear of her vanishing again. His concern and sense of protection over her heightened more after Dahlia told him every detail about the strange dreams and visions she had been having the past few weeks.
"I'm fine, Azriel... I promise." Dahlia lied and Azriel was aware of it. She didn't want to add more to his plate by dumping all her worries on him. "You'll be the first person to know if anything's wrong with me." She reassured him once more.
"I don't believe you for a second but for both our sakes, I'll pretend I do."
