Chapter 17

¤¤¤

I sat up in my bed and stared at the wall as a million thoughts crossed my mind..

I got out of bed as my brain made up its mind and went to freshen up.

I went to check on the babies and feed them.

After feeding them, I went to go and fix my hair.

I walked into the meeting room a small while later to find the room empty.

It was nearly half an hour later when everyone was finally present.

We strategized on how to initiate the idea first, then we ended the meeting.

I sent Xavier to get Henry and Max so that I could discuss the plan with them.

While he was out, I went to go and feed the babies.

Sitting back down in my seat an hour later, I looked up at the four people sitting across from me.

"Hello, how are you all?" I greeted them with a smile.

"Just fine, so what is this about?" Veronica said as she took a sip of water from the glass Melanie handed her.

"Well, we were planning on rescheduling school again." I answered as I took a sip of my water.

"School? You do know every living being probably hates it, right?" Cassandra said with a small chuckle as she put down her glass.

"Even I do, but I can't say that it doesn't have any benefits." I said with a sigh as I leaned back in my chair.

"She does have a point, it can get quite boring without it sometimes." Henry said with a shrug.

"Precisely, and you all may have already noticed that since there's nothing to do everyone is quite bored." I said as I sat up straight to face them all.

"Hmm." Max hummed.

"So, why not bring that seemingly annoying distraction back, with some changes." I stated as I stood up and walked over to the board.

I turned it over to the written assessment of the school point I had rewritten before their arrival.

I sat back down and watched them as the studied the words written on the board.

"I think she's made a valid point." Henry said with a sigh about fifteen minutes later.

"Fine then, let's get started on the basic things first then." Max said with a solemn look.

We sat and talked everything over for nearly an hour till we had formed a suitable plan.

"Before ending this meeting, let's go over the plan again." I said as I stood up and paced in circles in front of the board. "So, the first thing we need to do is..." I gave a pause and looked toward Cassandra.

"Pick out a suitable building or old school building." She answered.

"More specifically a large one with big enough rooms as well. Then..." I stated and then looked toward Max.

"Then we take some time in the cleaning process, such as removing dead bodies and others." Max spoke with a slight yawn.

"Exactly, and then it will just take some other touchups and then we'll be done." I said as I clapped my hands together.

"Ok, let's set to work in two hours." Veronica said, rubbing her eyes as she stood up.

"Let's actually start tomorrow, it's gonna get dark in a bit." I said with a small yawn as I looked out the window to see the golden shine of the sun on the trees and grass as it set down.

"Okay, we'll be going then." Henry sighed as he stood up and walked out, Cassandra striding behind him.

"Well then, see you tomorrow." Max said as he stood up and shook my hand. They left the next second as Veronica pulled him out by the ear.

"Hey, those two are dating, right?" I asked Melanie who was cleaning up the table.

"Yep." She said and walked out of the room.

I walked out behind her with my hands at my back and closed the door. I went to the nursery to feed the babies.

As I walked in, I froze in surprise to see that they were all sitting up awake with bright smiles and little giggles on their faces. When did they wake up? Meh.

I went ahead and mashed some bananas for them to eat. Melanie came in fifteen minutes later and helped me with feeding them.

After feeding all the babies, I went back to my room and laid down on the bed.

I was feeling exhausted from all the talking and meetings today. I shut my eyes and just laid there in that position, half of my body off the bed.

There was a knock on the door after what felt like a couple of minutes.

I sat up straight with a sigh and looked at the clock. It had been three hours since I had been in that uncomfortable position.

Groaning I stood up and went to open the door.

Marcus greeted me with a small smile as he showed me the basket Melanie had probably sent over.

"Thanks." I mumbled as I took it from him and closed the door.

I went back to the bed and set the basket down on the side table.

I sat and stared at it for a couple of seconds then sighed and opened it to find a box containing a burger and fries with a bottle of juice and a bottle of water.

I ate my fill and then took the basket downstair to the kitchen.

As I entered the kitchen, I saw that Marcus was sitting at the counter and eating his meal.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" He asked as he looked up at me when I entered.

"Good, you?" I said as I set the basket down on the counter and sat down opposite to him.

"Just great, how was the meeting today?" He asked as he took a bite of his food.

"It went great. Could you inform the others that we start work tomorrow?" I asked as I fiddled with my hands on my lap. "If you can."

"Sure, I'll do it after I finish eating." He said.

"Ok, thanks." I said and walked over to the sink to wash the dishes.
