Excerpt: I felt laughter bubble and erupt from my throat as I hissed. "Loki you son of a bitch, what is the meaning of all of this?" The man who laid under me erupted into just as maniacal laughter as his face brightened. His voice purred as he said laboriously. "Oh my dear! I can't believe that you seem to recognize me so quickly! I thought that I would hide myself so that there would be some suspense in our reunion. You are of no fun my dear. In this case, why don't we skip the pleasantries and just skip to the part of you taking your hands off my throat?" I laughed once more. I could kill him. I could kill him! I could finally kill this son of a bitch! Loki then slowly raised himself despite my vice-like grip on his throat and whispered in my ear. "As you know my dear, I do love to be choked but only in bed." ..................................................... Chapter 2: A much awaited reunion

All of my senses screamed desperately as my instinct took over. The sound of men unsheathing their swords filled my ears as my hands unconsciously wrapped around the neck of the man who stood in front of me. His eyes widened in shock a he brought his hands up to release my vice-like grip.

I felt laughter bubble and erupt from my throat as I hissed.

"Loki you son of a bitch, what is the meaning of all of this?"

The man who laid under me erupted into just as maniacal laughter as his face brightened. His voice purred as he said laboriously.

"Oh my dear! I can't believe that you seem to recognize me so quickly! I thought that I would hide myself so that there would be some suspense in our reunion. You are of no fun my dear. In this case, why don't we skip the pleasantries and just skip to the part of you taking your hands off my throat?"

I laughed once more. I could kill him. I could kill him! I could finally kill this son of a bitch!

Loki then slowly raised himself despite my vice-like grip on his throat and whispered in my ear.

"As you know my dear, I do love to be choked but only in bed."

Out of impulse I released his neck and slapped his right cheek. The room grew quiet as the knights stepped forward to have their swords encircle me. I glared at them and smirked.

Did these couple of newbies think that they would surpass me in their swordsmanship?

Oh please never in their dreams of Freyja would they do so. I jumped off of Loki and slid over to one of the weaker looking knight. I then kicked him vehemently on his knee cap and watched him kneel. The sword in his hand clattered to the ground with a loud CLACK. I chuckled as I picked up the blade and placed the tip of it right under his chin. The young knight shook like a newborn as I smiled through his tears.

"Knight!"

"Yes your majesty!"

I broke into a fit of laughter. Despite him being afraid and shaking he still answered me confidently. I smiled once more at him. His emerald eyes shining with tears as his black, shoulder-length hair shone. I had a brother in my past life which had a similar look to this knight. He might even be a descendant.

"What is your name boy?"

"My name your majesty?"

"Yes your name, am I asking something that is so ridiculous?"

The boy shook his head vehemently.

"No your majesty. My name is Edgard."

I felt a pang in my chest. My brother's name was Edgard as well. I sighed and kneeled in front of the boy. I then planted the sword into the carpet below. The knights caught their breaths as the sound of limestone cracking filled the room. Despite waking up in a weak body, my mind still remembered the tricks that I once knew.

I then bowed my head and said.

"Edgard-What's your surname?"

"Grimr, your majesty."

I smiled through my tears. He truly is a descendant of my dear brother.

"Edgard Grimr, I now dub thee as my personal attendant and knight to fight by my side."

As I said that a large amount of tension filled the room. Edgard reached over and clasped my hand as he slammed his forehead on the limestone below.

"I accept, your majesty thank you for such an honor!"

I smiled and ruffled his hair as he slightly blushed. The other knights backed away from me.

"Well, well. Now what does my dear wife think that she is doing?"

Chills filled my bones, as I looked at a thunderous Loki. He looked at the boy with deep contempt. I placed my arm out to block the boy. I know that look of Loki's. It was one of his discontent. And this look would usually mean a week of famine for us humans in Midgard. No way would I allow my people to suffer like this ever again.

"Watch your treacherous self Loki. I believe that I have some right to dub this boy as my knight. I do hope to go to war against you after all."

The room quieted once more as the two women looked at me in shock. Their beautiful features dangerous despite the weak build of their dainty bodies. Loki erupted into laughter once more.

"Oh you are just as I remember my dear Hjordos. My long dreary life now has purpose once more. Wars have gotten boring after all."

I felt my blood boil as I clutched the sword in my hand more tightly.

"What do you mean by wars? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE HUMANS?"

The women and knights staggered back at my sudden raise of voice. I felt my anger seep from every one of my pores. My red hair aflame as the fire in my heart. As a demi-Norse god, I have always put the humans who had taken me in and treated me well as a priority. Especially so when they welcomed me with their kind smiles when I was rejected by the Norse gods albeit Odin and Freyja.

Loki then frowned as he stood up and brushed away the dust from his clothes. I winced as he grabbed my arm hard.

"And what right do you have to stop me Hjordos? I can do whatever the hell I want. You are a weak demi-human after all. And do you want to know something even better my dear? Those humans that you love so much are quite fickle beings even more so than myself, the god of trickery! Get that head of yours out of Asgard and realize the reality of what you are protecting."

I cried out as he threw me hard to the ground. His blue eyes icy as they peered into my aflame yellow ones. One of the women stood up and held his arm gently. Her chestnut hair was tied up in a bun as her lavish green dress trailed the floor. Her violet eyes sparkling as she smirked and said to Loki.

"Your majesty, why are you suddenly showing favor to the Empress? Wasn't she the very one who refused to let you in last night so you demanded that she be reprimanded?"

The owner of the body which I took the form of must have been terrified of this individual as I suddenly trembled. I chuckled as Loki looked at the woman with a smile. As I struggled to stand up, the sound of something cracking filled my ears. I looked to see the woman wail in pain as she held her arm which was positioned in an unusual position. The other woman with fair, dignified features and amber eyes ran to her side.

"Are you okay Jaina?"

I chuckled. Clearly, "Jaina" was not at all okay. I looked at Loki as he said.

"Did I give you permission to speak you wench? And since when have I allowed you to touch me?"

Loki then looked at Edgard and smiled. I flinched. That smile of his was never a good thing.

"Well, well Edgard of the house of Grimr, why don't you go ahead and cut off that arm of hers that had the gall to touch me?"

I pushed Edgard back firmly and shook my head. The boy hesitated as he looked at his captain. The captain looked away. I clicked my tongue in annoyance.

"Boy, do not test my patience! Do you dare go against the Emperor? Do you have a death wish?"

I looked at Edgard as he shook. His dried tears being replaced by new ones. My heart clenched as I looked at him. Memories of the strewn bodies of the humans who risked their lives to protect me from Loki's clutches.

"Edgard, who is your master?"

"You, your majesty."

"Don't call me your majesty, Edgard. My name is Hjordos, call me as such."

"But isn't you name Alia, madam?"

"No it isn't, call me Hjordos, Edgard. I give you permission. And as such, listen to me when I say to stand still as I deal with his majesty."

Edgard nodded as he stood still. Loki's eyes shone the brightest of blues as he walked over. I covered Edgard with my body in an embrace as Loki raised his hand.

As I clenched my eyes shut, I thought of one thing.

No matter what occurs, I will kill this man and I will save the humans. No matter what it takes.
