Chapter 33

What she saw, was a man who was burned alive. All the clothes on his front had been burned to pieces, and the skin had become black and crisp in many spots. The places that were not black and crisp, were where the body had open wounds.

there was even a wound on the chest, where one could see all the way into his lungs. At that moment, one could not see any movements from the lungs, as he was not really breathing.

from behind he looked fine, still standing tall, but in the front, he looked like a monster from hell. She was not even sure if he was still alive. her mouth kept opening and closing as if she was trying to speak, no words were coming out though.

"What's wrong Ada?" Adania asked as she saw that Ada was not moving.

Ada was trying to speak once again, but no words came out of her mouth, she was speechless. Seeing this, made Adania confused, and she started to walk up to Ada. Getting close to Ada, she followed her eyes onto Einar, as she froze on the spot.

Adania was a nurse though, so she snapped out of it quicker to go and check on Einar. the first thing to check was the breathing, there was none. After that, to be sure, she checked the pulse of Einar.

"He .... He is de-dead ...!" Adania said.

After a few seconds of feeling, and not getting anything, she had to say that he was dead. With no pulse, nor any breathing, there was no chance for him to be alive.

Ada was hit by an even heavier shock, as she was at least hoping he was alive. The man she had started to admire, and now also her savior, was dead? She could not accept this. This was a massive shock to her.

"H-He gave his life ... for us? Why would he do that?" Emily was still standing behind him, but she still heard Adania before. She was sure, with Einar's speed and strength, he would probably be able to save himself, but he chose to save them, she had no idea why he would do that.

They all started to cry at this moment, as none of them wanted this for Einar. He had sacrificed his life, to save the three of them. They all would rather have it that they died instead of him.

"Why are you all crying?" the suddenly heard a small whisper from somewhere. None of them paid attention to this though, as they were all still mourning Einars death.

After a few more seconds of crying, Einar suddenly thought back to this small whisper. It was a voice she had heard many times before, it was also a voice she would never forget. She suddenly chose to look up again. This time, she did not see the previously dead Einar, but an almost healed man. He was still naked, but apart from that, he only had a few small burn marks on his chest where the deepest wound had been.

"H-How?" Ada suddenly said.

The other girls heard her voice, and they looked at her in a weird way. What was she talking about, none of them had said anything, they were just sitting there, comforting each other. they saw she was looking at something, and they then followed her eyes.

In front of them stood Einar, almost completely healed. He was smiling at them wryly, as he thought it was quite embarrassing for them to stare at him, especially considering he was naked.

"Uhm, before we talk anymore, could I maybe get some clothes?" Einar asked with a smile.

After hearing this, the girls looked down and saw a massive snake between his legs. They had never seen anything like it, as their faces turned red like a tomato. None of them dared move if fear of the snake deciding to attack them.

"Please ..." Einar was getting more and more embarrassed, but he did not show it.

Adania had an extra shirt on, she took it off, and handed it to Einar. Einar took it and tied it around his waist to hide his snake.

Einar was still half-naked though, so the girls were still looking at him. None of them had actually noticed how refined his body really was. Adania might have seen him half-naked when she treated him before, but that was only treatment, as she did not really pay attention to his body in that way.

But now that they were all looking at him without his shirt on, they had to admit he had the best body they had ever seen. His muscles were refined and quite big, but they were not too big, as they could still be considered lean. His body had some charm, as it made them all look at him as a true man.

"We should get a move on, this place might still have some danger!" Einar said, getting the girls to snap out of their dream-like state.

'This explosion might get some attention from some stronger beasts' he thought, as he started to walk away. 'Besides, I still have to find the father-daughter pair,' he was still thinking of the two people he had saved before.

The girls could only follow his lead. They did not want to separate from him again, even though he had said that he worked best alone. After this battle, they also saw that he was on a completely different level than they were. He might even be stronger than some of the teachers at the academy already.

Einar was moving in the direction of where he had left the father-daughter pair again. The girls had no idea of this, as they were just following him.

"So ... Uhm ... Einar?" Ada started a conversation with Einar. "I have been meaning to ask for a while now, but how did you recover from that injury, and how did you stop that explosion from hurting us?" She had been wondering for a while as they were walking, but she did not seem to come up with an answer herself. The two other girls also looked at Einar with curious looks.

"Hmm, the healing was simple, I just put a healing pill in my mouth before the explosion, so that it would heal me when my mouth lost its power to resist it go down in my stomach to heal," He said with a small smile.

"For the protection part, I had the idea of using the mana as a shield!" He said with a smile. " I had never tried it before, and was unsure of it working, but it seems like it worked ... somewhat!" Einar continued with a wry smile thinking back at his state.

The three girls were just looking at Einar like he was some kind of a freak. It seemed like Einar had no idea of what he had just done. Just thinking about using the mana in that way is amazing, another thing is to actually do it in a practical sense. He had basically just created a spell, a low-ranking spell, but it was still a huge achievement for someone who had just started his journey.

Another thing that shocked them, was the way he had used the healing pill. He had known from the start of the battle he would endure a fatal injury to save them, so he had done this so he wouldn't die. This just made the girls respect him more, but it also made them sad, that they had pulled him down so much.

"S-Sorry ..." The girls looked at him in an apologetic way.

Einar looked at them, he knew exactly what they were thinking. He would have been thinking in the same way if he was in their shoes. To him though, they were precious friends, and he did not want his friends to endure any pain.

"Haha, don't worry about it," he said with a warm smile. "What else do you have friends for?"

The girls really appreciated Einar. He showed what kind of man he was in this battle, as he could have easily run off, without anyone complaining. Instead, he chose to protect them, this really showed a man's character.
