Chapter 10

As he went through the gate to the capital, he saw the bustling streets in front of him. There were noises all around, and the atmosphere seemed cheerful. It was a beautiful sight.

The streets were filled with all sorts of different stalls. Food, weapons, books you name it. The buildings around looked beautiful. they were made with a mixture of wood and bricks, and most of them were two storages high, some were even higher.

The big streets had a lot of smaller streets branching off to different parts of the city, but that was not what Einar was interested in right now. All he was focused on, was to find his way to the academy.

Lucky for him, he had Mathilde, Bjorn, and Bertrand with him. They were nobles, and they obviously knew where the academy was. Einar asked them if they could show him the way, and they obviously would.

As they walked down the streets of the capital, Einar could not help but admire this big city. His small village did not have houses this gorgeous. The people here all seemed to have a happy atmosphere, but there was not the feeling of togetherness as there was in his village.

There was also a gloomy feeling every time he walked by a small sideroad with no lights. It seemed like something bad would happen if he headed down one of those alleys. He did not think too much about this, as he had another objective he needed to do.

"Why do you want to go to the royal academy?" Mathilde could not help but ask on the way there. Einar did not look like a royal or a noble, which would make it hard to join.

"I am going to join!" Einar answered with sparkling eyes. He was looking forward to learning from great teachers.

"Oh? Are you a noble?" Mathilde was a little surprised.

"Nope, I am just your average commoner!" Einar answered straight away.

"A commoner maybe, but not average! HAHA!" Bertrand chimed in, with a small laugh. There was no average commoner who could just kill two people without batting an eye.

"haha" Einar just laughed at that remark, he had no idea of how to answer that sentence.

"How do you plan to join then?" Mathilde just asked him again, she had never heard of a commoner joining the royal academy.

"My master gave me a way in!" Einar told her, without giving her information on the letter. He had started to become close with them, but he did not trust them completely yet.

"Oh!" Mathilde had no answer, and she didn't know how to keep the conversation going. So she stopped talking and continued walking.

After a few more minutes of walking, they had made it to the royal academy. Mathilde and her knights gave their farewells to Einar, as he walked up to the gate of the academy. The academy looked more like a castle with its towers in each corner of the building, and the 6 storage high building in the middle.

It was made of bricks with a tile roof, something that only rich people could afford to do. There were a lot of windows on each floor, each of them decorated with beautifully made iron panels.

The gate Einar was standing at, was placed in the outer wall of the academy. The outer wall was there, to stop people from just walking into the academy. It was an academy for the privileged after all.

At the gate stood two guards, they were stopping everyone who had no business in being here. They would only let students and teachers into the academy.

"Halt! What business do you have here?" One of the guards saw that Einar had come up to the gate. He was a little annoyed, as Einar just looked like a normal commoner. Nonetheless, he had to ask this question.

"I am here with a letter from my master, to you principle!" Einar chose to mention the letter, instead of enrolling here. They would just throw him out if he said he wanted to enroll here.

"Oh, are you now?" The guard looked at Einar with an annoyed look. "Let me see the letter!" The guard wanted proof.

"No! It is only meant for the eyes of the principle!" Einar said. He didn't want to give it to the guard, as he could just tear it apart since it was just paper.

"Then I am afraid I can not let you in!" He was getting more annoyed now "Just get out of here!" The guard said as he proceeded to ignore Einar.

"I will leave when the principal gets my letter!" Einar said as he looked straight at the guard.

A few minutes went by before the guards chose to try and get Einar away again. "Scram kid, just give up!"

"No, I need to give this letter to the principal!" Einar was determined.

"You do know, we are allowed to use force to move any unwanted guests!" The guard showed a small grin. He started to draw the sword by his waist, he was going to teach this kid a lesson.

Einar also took his position, as he placed his hand on his sword. If this was really going to start as a fight, Einar had to hit with his strike, or else he would lose.

"Oh, you are going to fight back?" The guard's smile grew wider. He had not seen any action for a while.

The guard dashed straight at Einar, with a huge amount of speed. He wanted to hurt Einar a lot, but he was not allowed to kill.

Einar did not know he wasn't allowed to kill, so he treated this as a life-and-death fight. As the guard drew closer to him, a red hue of 'Aura' started forming around Einar. He was getting ready to strike with his sword now, and with the amount of 'Aura' forming around him, it would be quite a strong strike.

Einar drew his sword, and the force from his blade headed straight for the guard's neck. Einar was aiming to end this fight in one hit. The guard saw this and had no time to react to it, so his eyes started to turn into eyes of despair.

Just before the strike would hit the guard, it disappeared. Einar was quite shocked, and the guard's eyes turned back from despair, into happiness. His life had just been spared.

"You are a quite ruthless kid!" A man stood at the gate. He was quite tall, around 190 centimeters. He had long silver hair and a handsome middle-aged face. What was unique about him, was the long lizard-looking tail and the huge pair of wings, growing out from behind him and the many scales that filled his arm.

"I heard you were looking for me!" The man said as he was looking straight at Einar.

"You are the principal!" Einar looked at him, he had never seen a man looking like him before.

He did know his species though. He was what people call a dragon-kin, which is a person born from the union of a dragon and a human. It was one of the strongest species that was known of, they were only a small bit weaker than the dragons themselves.

"I am, yes!" The man looked at Einar with intrigued eyes.

"Good, my master told me to give you this letter!" Einar said as he pulled out an envelope from his pants.

There was a certain stamp on this letter, which not many people knew. It was the stamp belonging to a certain person, with more power in this kingdom, than any other man had. He was a man that had disappeared for many years, and no one had been able to find him. He was the master alchemist known as Rayes.

The principal obviously saw this with just a glance, and there was a visible shock in his eyes. He, of course, knew Rayes, since he was one of the top characters of this kingdom, he also owed his life to Rayes, for something that happened many years ago.

"You said it was your master who gave you this letter?" The man looked at Einar with serious eyes.

"Yes, it was!" Einar looked back at the man, obviously cautious.

"What is the name of your master?" The man still had a serious expression. If the master of Einar was really Rayes, this meant that he was still alive.

"My master is called Rayes!" Einar said.

As soon as Einar said this, you could see happiness forming in the eyes of the principal. "Good, come with me!" The man said. Before Einar could even react, the man had already jumped over to him, grabbed him, and flown into the air.

They flew in the direction of the main building of the academy. Right in the middle of the upper floor. It did not take more than a few second before Einar stood in a room, by the side of the principal.
