Chapter 3 The new beginning of new life

The head maid gently takes Achlys's hand, it was small and soft. They were walking through halls of the mansion, Achlys still sees maids everywhere doing their chores, expensive paintings hanging on the hall. Then she stop, when she saw the Duchess's portrait. Lilith look at Achlys, the young little girl look fascinated to Duchess. 'How beautiful' she thought. Lithia only smiles at her, she kneel down again, "Young miss, did madam look beautiful?" Lilith ask, Achlys didn't understand what she just said to her, Achlys saw Lilith's soft smile, it was the warmest smile but also she can see the sadness behind those smiles. 'Why?' she thought. Achlys's soft and small hand gently caress Lilith's cheek, at first Lithia was shocked, but she close her eyes and feels the soft and small hands comfort her.

A sudden flashback in her head, it was the duchess when she was only 10 years old, she used to be like this to, Innocent, pure child, 'Oh~ what did happen when she turned into like that' Lilith slightly open her eyes and saw Achlys smiling at her. 'How warm' if only this warmth can last forever. Lilith and Achlys continue to walk, those long hallways giving Lilith's nice memories along the worst one.

Ever since the Duke died, Carmellia changed suddenly. The Duke fell in love with Carmellia at first sight, they met together in the Crown ceremony, Carmellia was one of the daughter of the baron. They fell in love together and married each other. They were happy, not until a bad news comes up, Carmellia was infertile, she cannot bare a child, this broke her heart and cries for days. The duke was still in love with her no matter what, the Duke was gentle and kind, he was not corrupted unlike the Emperor, he still comforts Carmellia, rejecting other women hand in marriage, still want to be with Carmellia.

Not until the war broke out, the gate of the Abyss were opened, the King of Leverette requested the Kingdom of Heinrich to send a thousands of soldier in order to fight with abyssal demons, and one of the soldier were sent by the Emperor was the Duke, Aston Anatollius, he was the main general who lead the soldiers to closing the Gate of the abyss. They succeed, the Leverette give the Kingdom of Heinrich a great reward of credibility and they were known as Kingdom of Masaru means victorious, the whole continent know the Kingdom in the southwest, the King of Leverette give honor to the Emperor of the Heinrich by having a diner with the royal clan. It was a big celebration across the Land of Dawn. But Carmellia and the Dukedom is not happy about it, unfortunately the Duke had fallen in the battle, sacrificing himself saving a woman who was pregnant. The news were scattered everywhere, also the rumors. Who is that woman? the rumor she was a witch, other said she was a demon from the abyss. But Carmellia didn't care any about that, through loneliness, she became insane, she lost her mind. The Duchess starts to go out and gamble, and buying slaves, tormenting and torture them as if they were her dolls. The sweet, beautiful saint Duchess became a demon.

Those hallways, those sadness and madness were witness by the Head maid herself, while holding the little girl hand as they walk, Achlys were looking around, the walls were full of paintings of Duchess and an unknown man. Before they married, the Duke finds out that the Duchess likes to paint and sell them.

Achlys look around until she saw Lilith's sad eyes looking down as they walk slow, wondering what's wrong?, she slightly pull Lilith's maid uniform and she immediately look at Achlys, the little girl slightly tilt her head to the side. Lilith only let out a small chuckle. The head maid were there from the start, she used to be Carmellia's personal maid, she raised her ever since she was a little girl. Achlys was indeed look like the Duchess only their hair and eyes color were different. She smiled at the little girl and lead her to the room.

It was big, it looks like a princess room, it has a queen sized bed, a green furry carpet, a golden lamp, it was trully look amazing and expensive. The little girl let out a little yawn, Lilith gently carries her to the bed and tuck her in. When she was about to leave, Achlys grab her hand, she look at her as if she was inviting her sleep with her.

The head maid figure out that the little girl must be scared to sleep alone. So she join her to bed, hugging her and stroking her hair, humming the lullaby she used to sing at the duchess when she was a little girl. After some while, the duchess slightly open the door, she saw the Head maid humming her lullaby to sleeping Achlys, she smile slightly and decided to leave not bothering them. This is her new life now.
