A confession?

That day she had genuinely thought she and Ethan would be together all the time, but then he got older and acted like he didn't want her around anymore.

"So, what are you guys doing out here anyway?" Ethan asked her, his smile the same as she remembered it.

"Surge and Stefan wanted to see if they could beat me in a race, now that they were both almost men." Braelyn said affectionately as she gazed at her two younger brothers.

"But she beat us again." Stefan said with mock anger.

"Yeah, she is super-fast," Surge said laughing, "but I'm going to practice until I can beat her."

"I'm sixteen Surge, I've been running and jumping longer than you."

"You're not sixteen until next week." Surge said smugly.

"Semantics." Braelyn scoffed. "I'm close enough to count."

"Soon I will be taller than you Brae, and when I am, I will run faster than you, I will be so fast that no one can catch me." Surge boasted.

"I'm sure you will be." She told him, smiling.
