Wood-man

There once was a time in my life where I thought everything would just fall into place in a timely manner. As I slowly matured, then reality hit hard like a boxing glove. Knocked off balance, I staggered from one event to the next with glazed eyes. My dreams were like ashes at my feet and the harsh reality like a sword at my neck. It took some time to sober up and I shook myself up to remove the dark clouds over my head. Love was but a dream I thought about in my solitary nighttime before I finished the last drop of bitter tea. I'd wake up with a start and hope that this morning would be a better day. If it started with a thought process then Hell I would do my best and worst to make that reality in my mind become real. Then one moment the black and white vision slowly started to clear and I met her. I was covered in curled wood chips and rank of hours of sweat when she entered my life. Her eyes I couldn't take my eyes off them for they were the brightest jade green I ever saw. Time stood still and I stood straighter before lightly coughing. I wiped my brow and studied her.

"Can I help you?"

"Ah yes you can Sir! You are just the man I was seeking. I desire something in particular and I am not that skilled in carving. Can you make me a wooden brush?"

"Yes, it will be but a moment." I quickly carved a beautiful brush with an intricate handle for her. "What will be your payment method?"

"Close your eyes Sir," she leaned in and gently took his face in her palms and pressed her fingers to his temples where he felt a cooling sensation from his spine to his toes. She then pressed her lips to his cheeks and whispered an incantation. "I better go now Sir thank you for your time making this brush," she paused then blew him a kiss and vanished into the shadows.
