Alone and lonely

Weeks passed by and Kira hadn't seen Drey since he left her that morning, she had a bad feeling when he was talking to her.

She was feeling lonely.

She walked slowly to her house, she was tired. The farm was the only place that kept her busy, they have been packing the harvested food, and today they have to take separate counts of the packed food.

The calamity was weighing them. She had to go back to the farm to help with the work even though she was helping the old man treat people.

She rested for a while only to be wakened by the constant knocking on the door.

Kira didn't want to wake up, and she buried her head deep in the pillows. The knock continued and this angered her more.

She wondered who would be there this late at night. Coming out of bed, she staggered due to the immense darkness.

Rubbing her eyes, she found her way to the door. She came face to face with two people immediately at the entrance. She moved back, ready to close the door when she had a familiar voice.

"I'm sorry Kira for waking you up at this time," Richard's voice made her nerve ease. She was ready to close the door since she didn't know who it was.

"How are you, Lady Kira, can we talk?" Trina's voice sounded lonely and helpless.

"Welcome in, l will light the candles fast," she moved away as they entered.

Seeing them here at night, she can only expect the worst.

Immediately feeling comfortable inside, Trina asked, "aren't you worried about Drey?"

"Huh!"

Richard couldn't help Trina's straightforwardness.

"I am, is he fine?" Kira asked, to light the candles.

"We don't know, but we will know soon if we go there," Trina replied, assuming Richard completely.

"You want to go there?"

"Yes."

"When?"

"Tomorrow before dawn, I wanted to go tonight, but Richard had been adamant about the idea of us traveling at night."

"I will come with you then," her voice was hoarse.

"Are you feeling alright, Kira?" Both Trina and Richard asked at the same time. It seems she hadn't been eating well, even her health was not good.

"I'm feeling awful," Kira didn't want to lie to the only friends she has.

"Will you be able to travel, it's a little far?" Trina wore a worried expression now.

"You are not expecting me to seat back and watch, do you?"

"You are not well, Kira!" This time, Chard didn't hold back and shouted.

"If I remained here, it will be the worst Chard."

"Then we are sleeping in the castle tonight," Richard informed, he couldn't let her continue to stay here when she was fine. This idea of her being alone and sick scared him.' I will have to inform the king about her.'

"No, am not going there," she didn't like staying at the castle.

"You will not accompany Trina then."

"Richard! You think you have become older than me?"

"I don't think that way, Kira, but if you like that, why not?" Richard knew she had to get on Kira's bad side, so she can listen to him.

"You…!"

"You can take your coat I will inform the soldiers we will be ready, don't take time," he reminded her as he walked out feeling an accomplishment.

Trina couldn't help at Richard's overbearing and burst out laughing, "did he just order you," she laughed seeing Kira's fists she seemed she would throw at Richards's face, but the boy flew away immediately.

"How old is that thing to order me around?" Her angered face was red as she went back to her room and brought her long coat and boots.

"You miss him in here," Trina asked her.

"He was the one who will always remind me of the little things," Kira replied, putting her shoes on.

"Why don't you live in the castle with all of us, everyone would like that?"

Kira raised her head at Trina. But her mouth remained shut.

"Especially Drey, even if he doesn't say if he would love you there, "Trina added.

Kira's eyes widen a little." Did he say that?"

"No, but I can see it in his eyes, "Trina didn't hide her assumptions.

"I like it here in the mountains. It is easy to gather herbs as I am learning from my grandfather," Kira replied, her blood rushing. She has always denied Drey whenever he asked her to live in the castle.

She never thought it would hurt him when she says no to him every he mentions it.

"You can always come back if you'd like, but can you think about it first?"

"He has always said he is fine if am happy here," she was a little surprised.

"Do you think he is happy, Kira?"

"I don't know!" She exclaimed, putting her coat on.

"Why don't you try to find out then," Trina politely suggested.

Kira nodded, "shall we go, Richard, is waiting?"

She put off the candles and closed her door.

One of the soldiers gave her his horse as he went to ride with his fellow soldiers.

Most of the streets were already deserted. Only the horse sound would be heard, and they were surrounded by the soldiers.' Did they have to walk with all these soldiers, like a king she wondered, even Drey never lines people following him?'

"It was all Richards's idea to come with them, he feared darkness," Trina said as he saw her looking around.

"He is still scared," Kira looked at Richard's back who was riding in the front.

Reaching the castle, they ate their dinner and slept in Trina's chamber. Trina was the one who proposed this, and she accepted, though Richard didn't like the idea.

Kira didn't get the chance to view the castle since it was dark.

"I'm coming with you two," Richard came to the stable already prepared.

"No!" They shouted at him.

"Why?"

"Aren't you supposed to help, people here, since you are the king's loyal boy?" Kira teased.
