From a land far away
To make sure the players had no chance of running into each other early on inside the maze, they were made to start at opposite ends. Zane was taken to the northern entrance while Kelly was escorted to the southern gate.
The maze was divided into two halves, each having an exit that led to the central square. It was impossible for the players to reach the other end without passing through the central fighting arena. This design was simple, but served its purpose effectively.
As the countdown timer hit zero, both the gates rumbled open, followed by a brilliant fireworks display.
"The maze is now open!" the male commentator announced.
Kelly and Zane both rushed inside, immediately starting a new timer. The doors shut behind them, boxing them inside the cramped labyrinth. As promised, they were given identical six-shot laser revolvers before they could start their journey.
