The little girl was unbelievably calm. She wiped away her mother's tears and told her, "Let's fight, mommy."
Those words stirred something in Ye Ming. He did not expect a child, who was surely not even ten yet, to speak with such courage and determination. It was a stubborn resistance against her cruel fate.
Was he himself not in a similar situation back then? Ye Ming's thoughts drifted back to his previous life.
It was a sunny afternoon, but for Ye Ming, it was a dark day. The mother and son were surrounded by a group of tattooed thugs in their own home. Ye Ming's father owed a loan shark a large sum of money. Overwhelmed by the debt, his father jumped off a building, but his death did not make the debtors give up their claim. They turned instead to his wife and son. They tried to force Ye Ming's mother to sign a real estate transfer agreement, but she refused.
The group of men actually tried to rape her due to her defiance. In a fit of rage, Ye Ming screamed, "I'll kill you!"
He grabbed a machete from the hand of one of the thugs and took on four of them at once. A dagger stabbed at him from behind, and his mother, with no regard for her own life, shielded him from it. Seeing his mother's bloody figure on the floor, Ye Ming went completely berserk. He killed three of the thugs with the machete and ended up exchanging blows with the boss, each giving the other three slashes. As a result, they both lost their lives, and Ye Ming ended up crossing over into this world.
He saw his past self in the eyes of this little girl, which caused his emotions to resonate with hers. As the sound of footsteps drew closer and closer, the figure of two Vampires soon ran out from the woods. When they caught sight of the mother and daughter, a smirk broke out on their faces. They looked at the humans like predators looking at prey.
The woman stood up and pulled her daughter behind her. With a determined look on her face, she shouted, "I'll fight you to the death!" With her thin and withered arms raised, she was about to lunge at the two Vampires, but her actions were suddenly halted by a strong force. A powerful arm had gripped her shoulder and pulled her back.
The determined look on the woman's face turned to one of surprise as she stared at Ye Ming who walked past her.
Ye Ming gave her a refreshing smile and said, "Let me talk to them first."
The woman stared at Ye Ming incredulously, seemingly surprised by his action. Previously, he would not agree to help them no matter how hard she begged, and yet he suddenly chose to step out now? This made her very confused. "Oh, oh." The woman hastily agreed to his request and hid behind Ye Ming.
With his hands behind his back, Ye Ming walked towards the two underlings of Marquis Andrew and asked casually, "Who are you guys?"
Seeing that Ye Ming was also a Vampire, one of them replied arrogantly, "We are Marquis Andrew Brujah's men responsible for collecting the blood of the humans we rear in this area. And who are you?"
"Just someone passing by. The lady caught me and begged me to help them." Ye Ming kept walking as he spoke, taking a few more steps forward and moving a little closer to the two.
The two underlings did not pay much attention to Ye Ming's action. One of them said arrogantly, "So? Are you going to help them? Do I have to remind you of the consequences you will face if you offend Marquis Andrew? Besides, there are two of us and only one of you. Here's an advice: mind your own f*cking business. These humans aren't worth your time."
"Of course. That's goes without saying. As a member of the noble Vampire race, it's unthinkable for me to stand up for a human. I just want to ask you guys if you can share some of their blood with me. I'm also very interested to find out what the blood of a little girl tastes like."
Ye Ming had not stopped walking all this while. By now, he was less than five meters away from the two Vampires.
Marquis Brujah's underlings exchanged glances, unsure of what to do. The amount of blood was limited, and the two of them would also like to have a taste of virgin blood. If they were to share some with this guy, then they would be bringing even less blood back to Marquis Andrew, and they would surely be chastised. The two of them would also leave a bad impression on the Marquis.
One of them shook his head to express his disagreement. The other told Ye Ming, "Sorry, can't do that. You should try your luck somewhere else. There are other livestock villages nearby, you might have better luck there."
"Is there really no room for negotiation?"
"That's right. Go away. Stop annoying us."
Ye Ming was already very close to the two Vampires. The hands he held behind his back suddenly sprung out. The hand holding the Vampiric Dagger stabbed forward, straight at the heart of the underling closest to him.
The Vampire did not anticipate this sudden assault by Ye Ming at all. By the time he reacted, it was already too late; the Vampiric Dagger had already pierced deep into his heart. Something miraculous happened then. No blood spilled out of the Vampire's wound. All the blood gushing out of his chest was sucked into the dagger's blade. Not a single drop was spilled.
Not only that, the underling's body was also visibly drying up at an unimaginable speed. He soon turned into a dry corpse, his blood completely drained by the Vampiric Dagger.
When Ye Ming launched this attack, he simultaneously activated the {Eyes of Terror} ability on the other Vampire. Thanks to the effect of the skill, although the Vampire saw his ally killed in front of his eyes, he merely stood still, shivering and muttering all kinds of desires he had in his heart. A strong sense of fear gripped him, making it impossible for him to escape.
Ye Ming quickly pulled the Vampiric Dagger out of the dried up corpse and stabbed the other Vampire with it. The second underling trembled. His eyes rolled up and soon, he became lifeless. His blood had been similarly drained away by the Vampiric Dagger.
Two dried up bodies fell to the ground, leaving the woman watching from behind Ye Ming in shock.
After killing the two underlings, Ye Ming could feel the power transmitting out of the dagger hilt filling up his body. "As expected. The more this dagger kills, the more power it'll give me. So the more I kill, the better I'll feel? Ha-ha, good stuff."
Ye Ming did not spare the fallen corpses a second look. He turned to the mother and daughter and told them, "Hurry up and run. This is all I can do for you. The rest of the way, you're on your own."
The mother and daughter were busy bowing in gratitude. "Thank you, thank you for helping us, my lord. Can you tell us your name? We'll surely repay you in the future."
"Forget it. It's not important," Ye Ming waved his hand dismissively. That was actually a precautionary measure. What if they let his name slip after he gave it to them? It might reach Marquis Andrew Brujah's ears, and that would cause him a lot of trouble.
"Hurry up and go. It's not safe here."
"Thank you."
The two sides did not stand on formality. They quickly parted ways.
