End of Chaos

A mana in a shape of a lightning spear bore a hole on the ceiling of the temple and struck the floor with blinding speed.

It was so fast that the whole temple shaked.

Is it an enemy attack?

No... Not even one sane person inside the temple would think that.

Everyone knew this shrilling and destructive lightning came from one single person. Their Queen.

"Her Majesty is back!"

The muscular man triumphed.

"She took a little longer before coming back, which means that she fought an enemy or two on the other side of the portal."

Another noble chimed in, expressing his opinion.

None of them even pay attention that the sacred temple got wrecked.

Well, to state the obvious once more, they're all nobles with plenty of wealth. Repairing the temple was never been a problem to them.

Besides, the most important matter right now is that their Queen has finally return.

Everything will become a lot easier to handle now that she's here.

However, only one person has a complicated look on her face; Vivienne.

Obviously, she never doubted that Mathilda will return and while she will gladly welcome her, another important issue is at hand.

The two acolytes.

Vivienne was surprised by the sudden ruckus that she lost her focus for a moment.

She hurriedly ran towards the back door, but when she got there, the two acolytes were gone. All she could feel is the trace of magic.

'It's not even ten seconds when I regained my composure but that's enough time for the two acolytes to hide and use their spatial ability to escape?'

Meagus who followed her from behind, cathes his breath first before speaking.

"I-i'm sorry, Lady Vivienne. They escape because of my incompetence."

He apologized with a deep bow.

'Those criminals didn't waste the sudden ruckus from outside to escape. They're quite skilled. I can't blame Meagus and the knights for losing focus when I did the same either.'

A low sighed escape Vivienne's mouth.

"As long as you know your shortcomings, then it's fine. I guess we just need to find out more of them especially their objectives in the future."

When Vivienne return to the main hall of the temple with Meagus, the figures of the nobles stood tall.

They're all finally done eliminating the puppet-like acolytes. Still, finding the suspects remain, but now they can at least be at ease even for a while.

"These fools... Must be nice to be careless."

Vivienne murmured.

"Oh? Lady Vivienne, where did you go?"

The muscular man mused as he saw Vivienne came from the back door.

"We already finished the acolytes while you were gone."

"We've found the culprits but they escape while all of us were occupied of her majesty's lightning."

Vivienne ignored the man, declaring the more important information.

In that instance, all the nobles were startled by her words. Even knowing that the enemies escape, they begin to their fight mode once more. Their frustration was very apparent on their contorted face.

They escape because Vivienne let them?

No. How can they blame Vivienne, the person who unmasked the culprit when they can't even do their own damn job properly.

If they didn't slack off for a while then the enemies wouldn't escape. Furthermore, if they were all focusing enough that they won't lose sight of their task even with a sudden disturbance, the enemies would never find the chance to escape.

If anything, all of them knows that the ones they shall criticize are themselves.

\-Realizing a person's own mistake, so you can improve and do better. To put it simply; Accountability.-

Is the quote that helps the Geayforth Kingdom throughout history.

When a person became a noble of the kingdom, they should follow this word.

With that in everyone's mind, the word 'pointing fingers' didn't even cross their thoughts.

"Enough. I know what you lots are thinking, but let's put a halt for now. The children are now safe and secure, we're also done with the acolytes.

"We lost a lot of our people today and I hate to say it, but there's nothing we can do about that, but at least we protected the future of our kingdom.

"We're going to conduct an investigation about them soon, but for now, let's just enjoy our victory."

Vivienne's words lit a fire on the nobles hearts, calming and bringing them back to their reasons.

Indeed. They lost sight of the enemies this time, but they can't hide forever to them.

Once everyone of them loosened up, one noble move towards to his children's side, then follow by another until all of them flocked together that the man-made barrier couldn't contain them.

Well, now that the enemies are gone, there's no need for the barrier anymore, so the knights finally move away from each other breaking the barrier.

Sure, the children were safe from physical harm, but how about their mental being?

Vivienne assured them that their children will forget what happened today. However, that doesn't stop them from worrying about their child.

All of them are parents after all.

Speaking of parents, a loud sound of footsteps can be heard outside of the temple. It's coming to the temple at an alarming rate as the sound are getting louder and louder each step.

And then the footsteps stopped for a moment.

In that instance, the huge door of the temple broke to smithereens as a figure from outside pushes it with force.

An enemy attack again?

However, a familiar woman figure came into view when the dust coming from the door subsided.

It's Mathilda.

"Vivienne."

She firmly said, looking at all directions looking for Vivienne among the crowds.

"Her Majesty. You're finally back."

"We're sorry. The culprits escape because of us."

"The children are safe including the prince."

The nobles started speaking one by one.

Mathilda simply raises her hand and proceed to finding Vivienne with distant eyes.

With that kind of look, the nobles didn't speak to her any further. No matter how powerful and graceful the queen may be, she's also a parent just like them.

Vivienne, who was sitting next to the sleeping prince until now, heard those words from the nobles.

She quickly stood up and asked one of the knights to carry Voltaire in his arms gently.

The nobles stepped aside giving way to Vivienne and the knight with Voltaire.

"Vivienne."

This time, Mathilda's voice was shaky and hesitant.

"My son..."

"He's fine. But why did you take a while coming back?"

Mathilda started to voice out what happened since her disappearance. From the place she's been sent to until the reason why she destroyed the ceiling of the temple.

\*\*\*

Meanwhile, before Mathilda's return to the temple.

In a pack group of audience waiting for the good news outside of the temple, a certain man pass through the crowd to get some fresh air.

The man has a carefree and lazy look on his face. He seems the type to fall asleep to any kind of place.

The man walked away from the crowd and stood behind a tree.

And then, he moved his pants slightly making his private part seen the outside world.

Pssss.

The man proceeds to yawn while pissing without a care in the world.

"You! Don't you have any manners?!"

The man was called out by another civilian who saw him.

"Huh? What's the problem? Mind your own business. Shoo. Shoo."

The man replied.

"What?! It's my business. You're putting dirt on the ceremony."

"The ceremony is happening inside the temple, was it not? Numbskull."

The man said. With his carefree look and tone, he somehow provoked the feeling righteous man.

"You bastard."

"Why, do you wanna go?"

The two of them started to prepare to throw their fist.

"Look! What is that lightning from the sky?"

One of the person on the crowd exclaimed. Her voice was so loud that all attention shifted to the sky subconsciously.

"There's also a figure riding it!!!"

The carefree man and the righteous man stopped their nonsense fighting hearing those words.

"What was that?"

The words escaped from the carefree man's mouth.

"Isn't that the queen?"

The righteous man replied.

"That's the queen? Didn't she enter the temple with some kid, old hag, and a bunch of people wearing armor?"

"I think there's something unexpected happening inside. Anyway, to think that the queen can actually ride her powers. Isn't that amazing?!"

The righteous man said with his eyes glistening like a child who met his hero.

"Yeah. She's crazy."

The carefree man sneered, putting his pants back.

"You!"

"Fine. Fine. I'll stop disrespecting them."

"So you admit you're being disrespectful?!"

The carefree man ignored him and leave the place.

"Seriously... Those two have done it now... The brat only told us to observe another special brat here."

His voice change to a more serious and concerned tone while his carefree face remained the same until he completely disappeared from the temple's vicinity.
